thanks, you're absolutely right - it would be really nice to see Scotland developing their 'grain' spirits output even more and come up with eg. a peated rye or something
@Kankerzwijn Yeah we agree but without them there are no videos so we figure they are a small price to pay......better than subscription, which everyone REALLY hates. Thanks for your comment however...it is appreciated.
@k4tharsis yeah that's true, also it can help to achieve the right alcohol level, right colour and mix whiskies from different ages eg. Ardbeg Uigedail is a mix of very old and very young whisky - again to keep the 'known flavour'. If a distillery has a glut of stock, they may sometimes add whisky that is older than the age stated on the label. But when sales are good this will be less likely, thus creating a difference from one generation to the next,
seems odd that you never see blended grain whisky, seeing as the whole American whisky industry is centred around it, and has been so successful with that product
Collectors go for the most expensive bottle, but if you look around a bit you can find blends that taste nearly the same a for 1/5 the price, but then value is a factor more for collectors than consumers who unfortunately follow their lead, but what ever gets you nice I suppose.
Plz correct me if I am wrong but I presume that whiskey is made from grains and the malts are added to the grain spirits and blended together some whiskeys are bottled at cask strength others are reduced to bottling strength the pure spirit is typically 60 to 68percent ABV while bottling is done in the range of 40 to 43 percent ABV
I'm a bit late but here goes. On a scotch label " malt " = 100% of the contents of this bottle are distilled from malted barley. " grain " = distilled from a mix of malted barley and other grains ( mostly corn )
This man needs to teach all of my classes. I'll listen to every lecture. So awesome xD
His voice is like siting in an old wooden chair next to the hearth on a rainy day

I would like to ask about the difference between the Grain and Malt Whisky please.
I enjoyed those Videos, thank you.
There is now a blended grain whisky - Compass Box Hedonism - very good by all accounts.

Whiskey is a distilled alcoholic beverage derived from barley, wheat, grain, or corn.
You are very knowledgeable? A pleasure to listen to.
This video is very helpful in defining whiskey.
Fantastic explanation!
I enjoyed this, thank you. I just did a video on Scotch not too long ago
Nice video, congratulations!
Thnx, now I know what whisky better to buy.
Now as tables have turned its 75% single malts and 25% blends selling in market compare to what was opposite decades ago .
Thanks 4 information Sir.

richerd cranium Makes since many bourbons and whiskey use tobacco to hint towards their flavoring just like vanilla and oak.
There are five different types of Scotch whisky. Single malt, blended malt, single grain, blended grain, and blended.
Firefox + Adblock plus = no more youtube ads. :D
Your voice 😯
have people stopped watching this in 2021?
With that voice you need to do voice overs or audio books
I don't care about "scotch" I just want to know the difference between malt and grain
