I've started working in an Irish Pub a few months ago with no knowledge of the whisky world whatsoever, and that gets me in trouble sometimes...you're saving my life!
Single malt whisky is malt whisky from a single distillery. Single malts are typically associated with single malt Scotch, though they are also produced in various other countries.
Loving your style and production quality. Great stuff. Looking forward to what you've got coming up. Cheers.
Amazing work you are doing, learning a lot from your videos and loving the whisky journey I’m taking at the moment and thanks to you.
Cheers Leonard! Grateful to have you watching and that I can help with your whisky journey! 🥃
This is very informative, I got some single malt for my Christmas (I live in Scotland) and was enjoying it so much I wanted to know more about it
I like your explanation about whiskey and never get bored with it. Keep it up with the good job.
Thank you for the straight forward explanations! Learned so much. I enjoy these beverages very much but did not understand the lingo
Love it man! Looking forward to your videos, and learning more about my favorite drink!
Great work!!
I've been drinking Whisky for about 16 years and still didn't know this much..
Thanks..
Thank you for the information. I have started a modest collection of Japanese whiskeys recently. Will expand to Scotch soon 👍
Such a great informative breakdown!
I’ve enjoyed whiskey for a long time but never understood it very well. I recently was gifted a bottle of Monkey Shoulder from my brother in law and he told me “this is a nice bottle” which got me curious as to the intricacies of my favorite boozy beverage. As I sip on some currently I found your video. Well done! And I am really enjoying this Monkey Shoulder! Thanks for the video, cheers 🥃
Loved the content. It was exactly what I was looking for. Amazing video. *Subscribed!*

First. Class. Well done Phil, production oozes quality. 👏
Thanks so much, means a lot coming from you!
I don't have the wealth of knowledge of whisky like you or Ralfy, but I am seeing more and more people getting into whisky (lots of under 30s too) - so hopefully this can be how I can contribute to this community with my background in video, and passion for whisky.
I hope to make basic short videos that people can share with their friends and launch them into a fun and exciting journey with whisky.
@@FirstPhilWhisky you are doing great mate .one of the best channels about the subject of whiskey
Loving your videos and how you explain everything. Subscribed!
Absolutely the best and easiest to understand explanation! Thanks! Though you should change the title to: Single Malt, Blended Malt & Blended Whisky.
Very informative. Thank you
Nice film, appreciate your insight, delivered straightforwardly. Also love a good blinded malt.
Finally someone explained it thoroughly. 5 ⭐️
Glad it was helpful! Check out my whisky for beginners playlist. Lots of more info on there as you embark on your whisky journey.
I bought my first scotch recently. It was the double wood 12 year balvenie. It was good but I loved the monkey shoulder.
such a lovely video thanks so much my favorite whisky is in deed balvenie my special one is 15 years but i really love all of them
Your channel is a great addition to my whisky knowledge, thanks for that. I often watch and learn from polish "Tomasz Miler" - he knows a lot of whisky world and I also love to see whats new in american bourbons in SLB basement bourbon bar :)
Please make more videos. I just cannot understand why you don’t have more views and subscribers. Your videos are amazing. 👌🥃
Commenting for exposure. Excellent video. Your editing and information were truly entertaining to watch.
Beautiful looking channel! Hope there's going to be lots more for 2020 - I've subbed and can't wait to see it!
Yo dude! I’ve really enjoyed your profound explanation. Keep it up, dawg!
No comparison, single malt whisky scotch in particular is so pleasing to the nose, exquisitely refreshing to the palate and heavenly smooth to the mind.
Love the good production quality from the get go. Also love the video! Cheers from your neighbour in Aus
Thanks mate! Glad you liked it. Ah Awesome! Will have to do an episode on Tasmanian whiskies.
Love the yoichi single malt
Nice video. I like it when I come across a video, no matter the subject, that causes me to subscribe. Yours was no exception.
Great video!!!
Great no one Explained Like you cheers😍
I can see this channel going far, you’re a natural and pace the education well. There’s so much to get into so I’m sure you’re not in need of inspiration but I recently heard a BBC Radio 4 doc which touched on the story of Masataka Taketsuru (bringing whiskey to Japan, marrying his landladies daughter and her basically being the mother of Japanese whisky, the founding of the Suntory and Nikka distilleries). It’s fascinating but there’s not much info out there and I can’t see a biography about him or anything. Obviously there’s tons of history with whisky but I feel the founding of Japanese is recent enough to have decent facts rather than the folklore of Scotttish/Irish. Just a thought - I’m sure you’ve got loads of ideas to get through. Didn’t a NZ whiskey win a world best recently?
*Edit* just thought: same whisky from different glasses, different experience? I spent years drinking only from Glencairn thinking it was the “proper” way to do it but now feel that once I know a whisky I actually enjoy it from a wider glass as the nose is less intense. I’ve seen a lot of reviews with pictures of Norlan glasses recently which look great, just got a set and they claim to give a different tasting experience. Used to love ice, now I avoid it for malts but prefer it with bourbon. Obviously everyone’s approach is different so it’s finding the right way for yourself.
Thanks Jim for dropping by and for taking the time to write your generous comment!
That is a really good idea and would make for a great video to look into! Yeah, Thompson Whisky (NZ) won a few awards - really good whisky. They are still young though, but when they release an aged statement whisky - I think it will be unreal.
That's a great point about glasses. I'm the same. No ice for malts, but I still have Jameson, lime and ginger ale all the time. Especially right now in NZ, when's it really hot during the day, and it's a good alternative to cold beer. All about time and place I think!
A lot of beautiful pictures from isle of islay i have been there with my girlfriend. you helped me to remember a few details. Great easy video. great regards from germany!
Great info--thanks!
Fantastic video! I'm a new subscriber. Thank you.
I look forward to seeing more of your content. Merry Christmas.
First Video I watched. Immediately subscribed.
Nice vid! Well done, looking forward to more. 👍
Thanks so much, means a lot coming from you guys and thanks for all your generosity on this platform! It's a lot of work and I really respect you for it.
It's great to all be on this whisky journey together across the world!
great video!! we started a new category, mexican whiskey made from native corn, different than malts or american whiskey we are producing whiskeys made from corn (we have 60 native races in mexico and more than half are in Oaxaca where we produce it) now its slowly becoming a trend however mexican whiskey differentiation is the native corn
Well done, keep it up 👍👍👍
Fantastic video ... way to break it down ... finally feel like I got a handle on it.
@@FirstPhilWhisky and there are not multiple places where they make the same single malts?
That balvenie 12 doublewood is amazing.
very easy to understand video , english is not my first language but he made it easy
After experimenting with whiskeys, bourbons and scotches for the past couple of months, I definitely like single malts the best so far.
Yeah me too. The only time I prefer a bourbon is when I make an old fashioned. But it’s hard to beat a Single Malt when drinking it neat.
Very important video ❤️
Thanks! 🙌🏻
Thank you!🙏
Damn this is polished. Good work!
@@FirstPhilWhisky dude, I'm a scrappy dog in comparison to this quality. Also, LOVE the channel name
I just started to appreciate a good single malt and this was very helpful. Wish you would of explained peated, which seems to have a nice smokey flavor, that I prefer. I'll keep watching. 👂👀👍
Nice vid guys...As a Scot have you heard the term 'Angels Share' ? as evaporation from the barrel during distilling happens this is called 'the angels Share' just another wee nugget of info from the best wee country in the world 👌🏼🏴
Interesting ..may be if you could do a comparison between Single Malt Scotch's & JD (my 2 favs) that I love to have in their original forms. I know it seems like a too much of an ask, but may be others would like it too. love from India 🌺
Can’t wait mate. If you do an in depth tasting vid, can you let us know what you will be trying. I wouldn’t mind drinking along.
Well done sire
Freaking cool video . Never liked a video upon till now : here you go.
