@The Ultra Slayer 775 brah, this happened in July of 2019, everyone knew about it, it was on the news and basically everywhere how could you not did you not know.
This movie was actually directed and choreographed by Kenny Ortega who also did High School Musical and Julie and the Phantoms, choreographed Dirty Dancing and worked with Michael Jackson. So I guess that sort of explains why the dancing and music especially are just really good in this franchise. Second one is my favorite though, especially the song What's My Name by China Anne McClain featuring Thomas Doherty. You should definitely finish the series
I love that wand ID intro, and I love this movie. Sure, parts of it can be a bit cheesy, but it's fun seeing so many homages to Disney's classic movies, fantastic elements in a modern setting has always been an interesting concept to me, and some of these songs are actually pretty fire. ("Rotten To The Core" being my personal favorite.) And of course, Rest in Peace Cameron Boyce AKA Carlos. You were taken from us far too soon.
I love how you included the disney channel outros when they do a commercial break. I still remember watching Sweet Life on Deck and Hannah Montana when I was younger. Ahhh, those were the days. I also suggest watching Lion King 2: Simba's Pride.
There was a prequel story that talked about Ben having a dream about Mal before he talked to his parents about bringing them over. Didn’t really know her name (I believe) so when he saw her for the first time in real life it was like a dream come true. These are actually pretty well done trilogy. I think the eye thing between Mal & Maleficent is the equivalent of having a verbal argument/ staring contest.
First R.I.P. Cameron Boyce Second Descendants is definitely a great DCOM series, D2 actually introduces one of my favorite characters And third Maleficent is a Wicked FairyGodmother, however we later learn in D3 that Mal actually has the potential to be more powerful than her mother
The interesting thing with Avery is that she isn’t like that and you don’t get that until later. Her grandma literally told her that she’s pathetic because she couldn’t pull a prince like her mom Sleeping Beauty and the way to do that was to be like a a cute brat
My youngest is currently in a local theater doing this musical for the couple weeks and they’re playing Jay. For a cheesy Disney movie, it’s pretty well done. The sequels are pretty good, too.
If you want to hear Kristin Chenoweth (Maleficent) sing up a storm, there is another musical that is criminally overlooked. She provides the voice of the Sugar Plum Fairy in George Lucas' "Strange Magic" (2015). It features some of the best voice actors available and one of the most kickin' eclectic soundtracks with music from Elvis Presley to Bob Marley to Heart to Beyonce. You should check it out.
I think Evil Like Me was supposed to be Mal wishing for a bond with her mother, a moment where she might be told "I'm proud of you" or "you can do this".
I like the second movie better i hope you do them all. OMG the commercials 😭 they bring back so many memories, thank you. And i loved Sophie! ‘ Sophie, serving up sass’
Easily one of the best DCOM ever. The songs are ALL hits. Best songs are from the second movie tho. As for choreography, the best is in the third movie
17:06 lonnie is actually pretty badass she has multiple sides to her Also ben is a good guy everyone calls him a golden retriever boyfriend and that’s considered a compliment
Love your shirt! Love the intro 😂 love the OG Disney commercial breaks. Love the reaction! Thank you 11:05 I didn’t expect to see you sitting back there. I busted out laughing 🤣
I love that you're giving this movie a chance, but I would recommend watching some of the classics before you judge the legacy characters too harshly. Particularly Queen Leah. But I would also very much appreciate if you give the whole series a watch, for you to share your experience. Also, Maleficent (the film) was a favorite of mine, so I would love it if you would give that one a watch, too.
I remember when this movie first came out in 2015, it was HUGE. Foe halloween when I was 8, I dressed up as Mal and put purple streaks in my hair and my best friend at the time dressed up as Evie. Still love this series!
This was a good reaction! The first film was a great introduction to the Descendants universe. The overall message is that anyone has the capability to do good or do evil. So you shouldn’t judge others until you get to know them. There is a book series that take place in between the films as well as an animated series. In the prequel book, “The Isle of the Lost”, we learn more about our main VKs (Villain Kids) and AKs (Auradon Kids). As for the ending, keep in mind that they just chose to be good, and they’re still gonna have to face other obstacles like temptations or fitting in. Also they’re no the only VKs who want to get off the island. I know you haven’t seen any of the original animated film, but they do give you a basic point of explaining their parents’ history and there are small nods to them. Like the irony that most of the Auradon parents and kids are hypocrites like how Beast judges the kids based on parentage when he got cursed for his own vanity or that Chad thinks his family’s royal status gives him the right to mistreat others when his own mother was given the same treatment and that his father fell in love with her kind heart instead of her appearance. #RIPCameronBoyce 😈👩🏻🎤🪄🐲💜💙💛❤️
R.I.P Cameron, not one day I do not think of you man. Cried so hard when you passed. Mell you should watch Hunchback of Notre Dame, Oliver and Company, and Aristocrats. Ps. There will be another Descendants movie where Brandy will reprise her role as Cinderella
I remember asking my aunt to stay up on a school night to finish it and ended up watching it twice, I’m 14 now and i still love this movie with all my heart, I just forgot how much i loved it until i watched this and had a whole dance party in the bathroom singing the songs 😩
I always loved the concept of these movies. But it's Disney. So you right on top of the corn involved. Also, I nearly spit out my drink at the computer when you commented on the goodwill mascot costume. Very on point.
if youre saying that the casting for Cruella was interesting because she's black, Cameron Boyce was actually African-American and African Caribbean. His grandmother is actually part of the Clinton 12, a group of African-American students who integrated the all white Clinton High School in Clinton, Tennessee in 1956.
Fun fact : The actor for Jay, Boo-boo Stewart, was in Twilight as “Seth Clearwater”. He’s a young werewolf from Jacob’s pack. I hate that I know this stuff 🥲. I really liked Twilight when I was young. The first movie came out when I was elementary school. 😂
Yaaaasssss!!! Thank you for doing this!! 🙏❤😍 The songs and choreography, while decent for this one, are much better in the second movie imo! Plotwise, my favourite is the third movie though, but the music is best in the second one 🥰 Hope you'll be watching those, too! 🙏😊
I had the same reaction as you. My fav song is Evil like Me. What's crazier is the prince looks a lot like my older brother. I died when I saw the Cory in the House ad.😅 i just let ads play when that happens for an authentic feel. Great video my guy.
The commercial breaks really made me feel like a kid again 😂and you gotta watch the cartoons Aladdin you know we ain't gon let you make it if you don't lol
Actually the love potion wearing off wouldn't make him lose any attraction towards Mal. In order for a love potion to work there has to be at least a little bit of attraction. Also the way Mal and Ben were looking at each other in the beginning was because they've been having dreams about each other for a while before the events of the movie. It's in prequel books.
What i liked most about this series is the irony sprinckled throughout... most obvious in the interest evie has with doug.. evie being the evil queen's daughter and doug being the son of one of the seven dwarf's... its more ironic later in the series with this particular relationship in the third movie...
I wish it was elaborated on why mal said what she said to convice the other 3 VKs that they are good, so I'll do it myself, "Stealing doesn't make you happy," - Jay's value to his father is based on what he can steal for his father's store, if I remember correctly, he doesn't even have a bed, just a rug under a shelf at the store. "Scratching dude's belly makes you happy" -Carlos was basically Cruella's servant, and she never gave him any affection, he literally had to take care of her coats in a closet full of bear traps, so giving something else affection kinda helped him with what he never had. "You don't have to play dumb to get a guy" -Maleficent and The Evil Queen got into a political battle about who would rule the isle when the girls were young, and Maleficent basically forced Evil Queen and Evie to live quarantined in their home. Evie grew up with the evil queen teaching her that her exterior beauty was all that mattered, and would spend hour pouring over a mirror picking out her flaws no matter how perfect she made herself look. So Evie never cared about her intelligence despite being very smart, and didn't believe other people would find that attractive. And it was so powerful that Carlos asked if they were truly okay with their parents being mad at them, and if they were really safe from them because all of their greatest motivator was fear, but especially Carlos, because personality wise, he was the least evil, but going back would be harder on him, than like Jay, because while Jafar doesn't care about Jay, Cruella has gone absolutely bonkers, and Carlos really isn't all that safe in her clutches
For context before the start if this movie, Mal and Ben both had a dream about each other in the Isle of the Lost book, which kinda why Ben gravitated towards Mal when she first arrived in Auradon, I mean imagine meeting a girl you dreamt about, it'd see a bit prophetic to me... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Ok Mr Disney rocking the blonde hair not. But looking trim 😮😂 . Best thing about this movie was the songs . Take care and thanks again . Until the next one💜
If by corny you mean adorable The songs slap The 4th movie is hype The books are fire That acapella hip hop be our guest is undeterred fr Finally a new reaction for this franchise Also the wedding special is dope
BRUH, did anyone else get a add at 10:37 when the disney Channel would usually play Commossals and they say they're be right back? Because Burger king add literally came after that
I feel like the descendants films are super corny but also a lot of fun, they lean into the corny and play with it instead of trying to be cool or funny but corniness is all that comes out. Descendants 2 has the best music in my opinion. china mcclain kills it
As someone who watched theses movies when I was about 20-21(almost 23 now) I loved them! Of course, I have the mind of a 14 year old so that might be why 😅 But seeing Disney make these movies with inspiration from their take on fairy tail villains and their kids just brings such good nostalgia! I loved the dancing and songs and getting to see actors I had seen in my tween years from their Disney channel shows in a Disney movie as young adults was great. I have all the songs from all three movies on a Spotify playlist that I listen too with some other Disney channel movie songs. Despite the movies being cheesy(but, I'm a girl who loves cheesy gestures), I also have almost all the songs from the three Z-O-M-B-I-E-S movies in the playlist. Milo(the main actor in the zombies movies) is my current "Disney" crush 😅 More people should react to the ZOMBIES movies and Descendants movies on here! I love seeing people's opinions on movies I love and their reactions ❤ Watching the last movie in this trilogy is heartbreaking knowing it was one of Cameron's (Carlos in the movies) last before his sudden passing(he had seizures and from my understanding was how he went). It's sad looking back on these movies despite loving them knowing his time was cut so short. He had a bright future in acting, dancing, and singing. I had the biggest crush on him when he was on that Disney show called JESSIE with Debby Ryan. Rest in peace Cameron Boyce 💜💔 I think Dove(Mal in the movies) said they are making a 4th movie but I don't know if that's changed. I think it was after Cameron's passing they decided to do it for the wedding of Mal and Prince Ben but they did do an animated thing with that so I don't know if they are still doing the live action one or not. Someone else could probably clarify that since I only heard it in passing and can't really say for sure 😅 I couldn't imagine another movie without Cameron though 💔
I loved these movies too, after watching them for the first time during quarantine at 25! Lol While definitely cheesy at times the story was good, the music was good, and the costumes are fire. 🔥 Especially the VK fits because I love leather, studs, and the grungy look (I really appreciated them as a designer myself). The 2nd one is my favorite but I hadn't watched Disney since probably 2012 and was presently suprised how good this series was. But when I saw it was directed by Kenny Ortega I was like okay I see why (a disney legend) lol. But I definitely go back every so often on Disney+ and watch all 3 of these movies. I wish they came out during my disney era but I was almost 21 when the first one premiered.😅
Fun fact: The long haired guy was actually in Twilight playing one of the wolfs in Jacob’s pack
Seth Clearwater
Booboo Stewart is always a treat

- Jay's value to his father is based on what he can steal for his father's store, if I remember correctly, he doesn't even have a bed, just a rug under a shelf at the store.
"Scratching dude's belly makes you happy"
-Carlos was basically Cruella's servant, and she never gave him any affection, he literally had to take care of her coats in a closet full of bear traps, so giving something else affection kinda helped him with what he never had.
"You don't have to play dumb to get a guy"
-Maleficent and The Evil Queen got into a political battle about who would rule the isle when the girls were young, and Maleficent basically forced Evil Queen and Evie to live quarantined in their home. Evie grew up with the evil queen teaching her that her exterior beauty was all that mattered, and would spend hour pouring over a mirror picking out her flaws no matter how perfect she made herself look.
12:31 This dude actually played a different werewolf in the later movies!
Descendants 2 is a favourite in our house atm we watch it daily with my 2 girls.
