It proves that it’s just that good, I watched all these movies again after this video, and it did not regret like 3 years ago when I first had watched it
Evie is such a mood in this trilogy 😭 she's literally a mix of bad and good. Her "evil" side has style, even her movements especially when fighting/in a battle omg love her
19:45 a funny moment that I think a lot of people miss on first watch is Lonnie checking to see if her hair was changed back too after Jane's. Like nah girl you god, Mal actually fw you!

Idk if someone’s already commented this, but you asked about the isle school. It’s described in the companion novels, specifically The Isle of the Lost (book 1). Basically, they have classes like Selfishness 101 (taught by Gothel), Evil Schemes (an AP class taught by Lady Tremaine), and Weird Science (which is just science but they think it’s weird that they’re not meant to harm anyone. Taught by Yen Sid… who I still don’t know the origin of).
It’s all very on-the-nose, but it’s worth the read if you enjoy campy books.
Yen Sid is the wizard from Fantasia (the one from whom Mickey Mouse was an apprentice)
Now you need to watch the other two! It gets SO much better once Uma enters the story!
I LOVE Uma! Sometimes I even favor Uma over Mal because Mal gets so wishy-washy about leaving the Barrier open so all VKs can come to Auradon because then that unleashes new evil, but Uma was always proactive towards VKs having a better life.

everyone misses the point of that scene with Jane in the first movie. She's insecure and thinks she needs beauty magic to be Beautiful when she's already gorgeous. Mal doesn't think Jane is ugly, she's just playing on her insecurities to try and get the wand in the open.
The school on the island is only discussed & talked about in the prequel book where Mal & Eevie weren’t friends at first. Also how Mal was having dreams about Ben before meeting him. The animated series is great too

I'm not surprising that villains don't care about kids. All they want is power (Jafar) Revenge (Maleficent) or killing innocent animals| kid (Cruella and the Queen) Of course they won't spend their time raising their kids.
I also feel bad for them. Carlos is only there to clean his mother's coats, Jay to steal a treasure. At least Evie and Mal got advices from their mothers, it's better than nothing 😅

I was very surprised at how much I enjoyed the Descendants movies. I usually don't like the newer Disney Channel movies but while Descendants does have the corniness the newer movies have, I still find them a fun watch. The songs are catchy, they have interesting storylines and I like the characters' dynamics. I will say though the costumes look cheap as hell but that's OK. In the end it is still a Disney Channel movie so can't expect big budget costumes. I also do feel like Kristen Chenoweth was an odd choice to play Maleficent but she was still fun to watch.

I find it sad that Mal was willing to drown just to save Ben, because he was the key to her getting the wand and to making her mother proud. Like that's such a dangerous complex to have.

Watching this movie again after the 3rd one just makes me so disappointed because it's so clear they were worried they lost their older audience and kidified the last one. The plot barely makes sense and pretty much all the characters have been watered down except for Gil who's the same and Uma who's still awesome.
I agree Descendants 3... wasn't the best. Since the second one was pretty damn amazing, I had high hopes for the third one. Felt too cocomelony. The second one is way more badass but still family friendly. The songs were by far the best Descendants songs too! I also loved Mal's pink hair bangs era, she looked so cuuuuute! ❤ yh it's a shame we won't get a movie like that again from Descendants.

Mal was the name of the daughter of Maleficent, Evie is the evil queens daughter.
Descendants star Dove Cameron and author Melissa de la Cruz sat down for an in-depth interview about the series and explained just how everything works together.
"I was informed very early on...by the head of Disney Channel, Gary Marsh, that the reason this project has taken so long was because Disney Corporate had to approve of somebody officially embellishing on the original stories, because that is what we're doing," Dove explained.
"Anything else, like Once Upon a Time, hasn't actually been an official embellishment on the story," she continued, "We. Are. Canon."
Descendants was actually the first time Disney was officially touching the classic tales of their movies.
"That's why it took so long, because apparently, Disney corporate was like 'That's a terrible idea, we don't want to mess with the original stuff.' And so [Gary] told me that. He was like, 'This is the first time that this is ever going to happen.'"
Dove adds, "Disney Channel is it's own thing, it's own beast, so to be told you're involved in the classics is like, there's nothing more delicious than that. I think that's why we're all so invested in the series and the franchise itself because it's the first time!"

Omg I can scream. Finally someone else has read that! I remember reading this back in 2017 and I believe this was around the time dove and Melissa were promoting the third book rise of the isle of the lost. This is why I always get so frustrated and annoyed whenever people claim descendants copied ever after high because that was never the case. Descendants or more specifically Disney playing with their Disney princess/Disney villain franchises has always been something they’ve wanted to do for awhile on the Disney channel, they just needed the proper concept and rights to use the walt Disney characters.

This was a great reaction! The first film was a great introduction to the Descendants universe. The overall message is that anyone has the capability to do good or do evil. So you shouldn’t judge others until you get to know them. There is a book series that take place in between the films as well as an animated series. In the prequel book, “The Isle of the Lost”, we learn more about our main VKs (Villain Kids) and AKs (Auradon Kids). As for the ending, keep in mind that they just chose to be good, and they’re still gonna have to face other obstacles like temptations or fitting in. Also they’re not the only VKs who want to get off the island. The real irony is that most of the Auradon parents and kids are hypocrites like how Beast judges the kids based on their parentages when he got cursed for his own vanity or that Chad thinks his family’s royal status gives him the right to mistreat others when his own mother was given the same treatment and that his father fell in love with her kind heart instead of her appearance. Also, it’s been noticed that like in Disney’s Zombies, which I highly recommend that trilogy as well, Mal and Ben had just met practically, and they would need some time before they share true love’s kiss.

This movie brings back so much nostalgia, still remember watching this with my older sister and her now fiancée and she said it felt like when she was little and she was excited to watch high school musical. I just found out the same director filmed both movies 😂 the soundtrack still holds up.

I also graduated in 2017, but surprisingly enough descendants was quite popular amongst the girls in my grade. We all enjoyed booboo stewart lmao. But I just like keeping up with DCOMs bc I like a trashy movie every now and then, since I don't really like serious movies. No joke, I just watched this film last night with my aunts who had never seen it before. I had no idea that Lakia posted this video the same day!
I used to play the "Isle of the Lost Rush" game on the Disney website all through middle school. I think maybe Audrey was raised by the Fairies more than her mother did. Since the fairies fought with each other, maybe Audrey inherited some of that bad blood.

is no one gonna talk about the fact that mal basically drugged ben and stole him from the other girl? like don't get me wrong her personality was annoying but like her hate for mal in the second half of the movie was totally justified like she was raised to be his queen then this random girl who drugs him with a cookie comes in and snatches him which takes away her biggest life goal, also ben really went for the girl that had zero problem drugging him twice.... let that sink in
I don't ship Mal with Ben, I really don't think they have much chemistry and even less in the other movies, but the love spell disappeared in the lake and according to the books, both Ben and Mal dreamed about each other so they "knew" each other.
