That is the best course of action. You probably already know this, but UA-camr Scott at Cold War Motors has a lot of old Mopar parts cars in his yard in Alberta.
Have the same truck but with the 241 v-8, same floor pan issue, although the trans cover was repairable. Put a 70's 360 in with a 727 trans. 4 wheel disk. Just finishing roller and brush paint job with Rust-Oleum . Enjoy your story.
Thank you for watching and the comment. The 241 V8 is very cool. I’d love to see one in person. Did it sound pretty good before the swap? 4 wheel disc is the way to go. Maybe in the future. What color are you going? Would love to see pics. Josh
Thank you! Yes it is very fun to be in a position to “try” rings and see what happens. If they are non obtainable we will swap an engine😃 Thank’s for the comment.
Check your rings when you get them. Set them down in the cylinders using the piston upside down and look for the proper end gap for the ring. If their too tight clamp a fine file in the vise and gripping the piston ring with both hands supporting each end push the ends onto the file teeth and file the ring ends down. Take your time and check often in the bores until you get a .003"- .007" end gap with the ring inserted in the cylinder. pretty simple and patience pays off. Good Luck with the old girl treat her nice. You won't find too many of these around anymore. Trucks that is.
Thank’s paul I really appreciate the time you took to comment. I 100% agree. I hadn’t looked up end gap specs yet but is that the same for the 2 top compression rings and the oil control? Josh
Thank you for the comment, yes exactly what I am thinking. I have had to file rings to achieve proper ring gap before. I have no reason to think these could not be filed to spec.
Haha!! At maybe 200K could afford that. However thank you for noticing. 20K ain’t large but it’s better than nothing. Room to grow and thank you for the comment😃

I didn’t actually. That is good to know if needed. Thank you.
Great job on the drums, brakes and floor pans.
Thank you Brian. A lot of work and labour, however very rewarding now that they are done and functional.

241 was stuck. Because it shares the block with hemis, part cost was way over my head. 360 was $500 with trans in junk yard
Yes exactly, wow I never realized they shared the same block. Learn something new every day😃
Looking real good Josh
you do it the way you want to just enjoy it what ever happens happens like the older cars & trucks

@@Schneids15 I believe it is the same for all the rings.
I like that truck 👍🏻
Thank you very much! Let’s hope we can get it running soon.
Thats a sweet Pilot House cab Fargo, i hope you can find a ring set. I have 41 Plymouth P11 4 door sedan (Canadian Car) so it has the 218 6.
Thank you Murray. Yes my last Dodge had the 218 25” block as well. They are really good engines. I hope I can find a ring set as well.
You can buy a ring file tool, they are inexpensive, and file fit the .030 over rings. Just be careful you won't need to remove much....

Love that truck, put me in for the 20k subscriber giveaway...😎lol
