Actually the Rav4 is closer in size...I think the hybrid makes 305hp...our old 3.5 V6 from 2011 makes 269...and it's not hybrid, and also a very good engine....So I really think toyota took a step backwards with the Rav4.

After about 10 Jeeps in our family of 5 people. Not including my dads 1940? 2 1, 2, or 3. ( I don’t remember exactly which yr) jeep Willey’s which my brother still drives. But, anyways.
Yep we used to be a Jeep family as of March of this yr when Scotty suggested to get a 2016 Toyota Highlander. I believe it’s one of the best cars we have ever drove. Owned . / guess what we haven’t had any real problems😅😂😊
Our last Jeep 2014 grand Cherokee with all the bells & whistles. V8 funnist car to drive. Great in the snow. But what a nightmare when it did go out. It was in the shop from July 28th 2022 to March ? 2023. The alternator was fried. & CARSHEILD wouldn’t fix it. Even though we had the best insurance they gave. But it also needed a bunch of other work . Like airbags that make the car go up & down to get in for short people. Tranny was acting up & it needed a newer air conditioner etc… so we paid for the alternator & found a dealer that had our BEST CAR a Toyota Highlander. & traded. Both cars had under 100, thou. Miles Toyota had less miles. Our other jeeps were better but they were either braking down or in accidents non we are faults. In fact each were. T boned.
The Jeeps were great until that last one. Said we would never buy another one.
My hubby back in 82 bought a New off the lot 82 Toyota SR5 what a lemon from the word go. The tranny went out with less then 200 to 500 miles. Then when he go out of the Navy in 84. He came back to MT. & the engine went out in 85. He always said he would Never buy another Toyota. But Scotty changed his mind. & He picked out this High Lander& it has been a great vehicle. & it’s fun to drive& handles pretty good in the weather we have had so far.
Enough of this book I’m writing. You all have a Great day& God Bless.

I have a 2018 Wrangler JL. My first American brand vehicle bought brand new. I have had Toyotas, a Honda, a Mazda and BMW's. I've had so many visits to the Jeep dealer in the past 4 years than all the previous visits combined for all other cars I have owned in my lifetime! Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy driving it, I off road several times a year and it is fun. It's holding up for now, there is a leak in the rear main seal that I will get fixed under extended warranty/which I got free through Jeep. That was a win for me! I plan on keeping it as long as it will run, but I will never buy a Jeep product ever again!

I’ve owned probably 10 Jeeps in my life and I loved everyone of them. The problem anymore is they are too expensive. I wanted a Gladiator when they first came out but the price kept it out of reach so I bought a Tacoma. I love my Toyota and I will probably never go back to Jeep. Stellantis needs to start dropping prices instead of jacking them up if they want to sell vehicles. People can’t afford new vehicles because of the ridiculous sticker prices, dealer markups and interest rates.

    Couple things:
Jeep owners love their jeeps, they love their ducks, they ALL mod their jeep to some degree. Never seen one not modded in some way and I live in Florida... They obviously don't care about reliability or mpg.
The new land cruiser is 50k, not 20k. Likely a typo and will have a large dealer markup.
A large reason Jeep sales are lower is because they couldn't get the components. The chips. They still have issues fulfilling what they need.
Will some Jeep owners switch over, sure. Will most just keep getting Jeeps, yup.

I have two friends that both own Jeep Wranglers. One is a 2008, the other a 2014. Both vehicles along with the two local dealerships close to us have been absolute nightmares. The 2008 was originally purchased with a "Forever Drivetrain Warranty" and when it blew a head gasket at 240K, we found out very quickly both Dealer Service Departments had no idea what they were doing. Due the 3.8 Liter Engine had high miles, the Warranty Company recommended the Dealer replace the Engine. The first engine they got they found out after installation that the engine was seized. A second Engine was procured and due they forgot to put the Transmission Dipstick in prior to installing the engine, they had to pull the Engine back out again to install the dipstick. It then took them 2 months to figure out why the engine would not run correctly which they finally figured out it needed a new Engine Computer. All in all it took them 8 MONTHS to finally figure out what was wrong between the engine and the computer. The 2014 has had SIGNIFICANT front end death wobble issues that no one can figure out and sadly it is unsafe to drive over 35 mph. Honestly I would not trust a Chrysler Dealer's Service department with a model Ship Building Kit. I'll tell you neither of my friends will ever buy another Chrysler product ever again. Look at the Consumer Reports ratings, just about every vehicle Chrysler makes is on the "Do Not Buy" List.

I've never owned a Jeep and I didn't want to be part of the herd because I live in Arizona desert and a lot of people buy them to go tooling around in the sticks. My first 4x4 was a '94 Highlux that I made into sort of a sleeper. I regeared it with matched gears because of the larger tires. With the diffs open I installed Detroit Locker's front and rear. Others laughed because I didn't have a winch until they saw it in action. I did end up being part of the Sheriff's Posse instead of a club.

9:56 For those who don't know, the "previous Land Cruiser" was actually the full size J200 that was succeeded by the J300 and is not available in the US (The LX Lexus equivalent is available, however). As for the "New Land Cruiser", it's actually the J250 which is the fifth gen Land Cruiser Prado that was never sold in US before (Except for the GX Lexus equivalent) until now. Being renamed as just "Land Cruiser".

I loved my 2013 JK Sport-S, and used it as both daily driver and frequent off-road desert adventurer (definitely 4x4 and high clearance needed environment). I actually enjoyed being able to do nearly all the work myself, saving tons vs. dealer cost. At 110k miles, the engine suddenly failed badly, and needed either a full rebuild or replacement, neither of which I could tolerate due to timing. I might have been just unlucky, but there were never any indicators something was wrong, and I never missed a maintenance cycle. The mechanics I talked with said they had seen a higher percentage of engine failures on this model than most others. I'd have liked to drive that JK another 10 years if I could.

I had the same thing (Commando Green!) I had found the cooling system clogged with CASTING SAND from the factory! I bought it used in the late fall and noticed that it would only blow luke-warm air out of the vents during the colder winter days... I eventually discovered that the whole cooling system was clogged with casting sand. Made the dealership pay for all kinds of repairs because of that. Do you live somewhere warmer, where you don't use your hot air much in the cabin? Makes me wonder, a lot of people driving around with that issue that don't notice it because they live in warmer climates.

@@parentaladvisory66 that's an astute comment! I do live in a mostly hot climate, but definitely was able to get crazy good heat when needed at some wintery mountain moments, and a couple other travels. I suspect the casting sand is exactly what killed my engine. It started all of a sudden, and then 3 days later my engine sounded like it was about to throw rods. No codes were tripped, but it was getting dangerous fast. Ugh - I loved that Jeep. Wish I had the time to fix/replace the engine but alas, life called and I grabbed the first Honda I could get.

But mostly because of how expensive their vehicles have gotten. I got a sport s for $32k, that same vehicle now is over $46k before taxes and all the other dealer rip offs. All were standard shift setup cept the 06 . My 94 Wrangler was the most efficient being just a 4 cylinder but it went everywhere and I never had a problem except catalytic converter. Even with a 3 inch lift it was fine.
All the Jeep’s had a shimmy problem about 45 mph if lifted.
The newer ones even worse as a friend of mine called it a death wobble 😂
My Jeep sport had a straight 6 with automatic transmission lots of problems one after another sold it with only 137 k because the tranny about gave out.
These are fun vehicles if your off-road enthusiast which I am.

At a exactly 100k, I have to basically take down the engine apart all the way to the oil filter housing to replace that part with an aluminum replacement because the housing is made out of cheap plastic. Also replace ignition coils, spark plugs and thermostat housing. At the end of the day is a “Jeep”…..(Just Empty Every Pocket).

When you go to the dealer, don't listen to what the dealer says unless you see the proof. If you walk to kia dealer right now and you ask for the price on the ev9 you are going to hear high price from some guys or when you sit down to place the order it is different.

A sales tactic is saying an outrageous price to begin with (any product/service)....then when they tell the real price, you think u are getting such a good price u buy it without shopping around

Great video Scotty. Reliability is one thing I wished Fiat fixed about Chrysler. When Fiat took over and introduced a new lineup of cars (Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Dodge Dart, Chrysler 200, etc) I thought that would be the new life for Chrysler. Morale was high, and FCA saw operating profit margins never imagined in the auto industry. But reliability took its toll, and within 9 years of FCA being conceived, it was sold to Peugeot. It’s not like the quality of anything built by Chrysler has to be bad. It is bad because auto leaders don’t care about quality. I think a lot more people would buy Jeeps, Dodges, and Chryslers if they were built to last. Jeep had it all and blew it. I don’t know how they can still exist. Especially now with the new CEO from Peugeot; he doesn’t care a sht about people’s jobs or anything and keeps closing facilities. At least the FCA guy (Sergio Marchionne) who led Chrysler out of bankruptcy cared for his employees and built high morale.

I had a bare bones 95 rio grande. Roll up windows, 5sp manual, analog gauges and 4x4. 18 years and the only things it ever needed was brakes and tires. 140,000 miles on the same clutch. Living up north, it rusted the frame so I had to trade in my old friend. One of the worst days of my life.

Unfortunately most Jeep and bronco owners never go off road so the market is shifting to a better road handling and less off road capability. Despite all the quality issue I would say Jeep is still the most capable vehicle of the one you reviewed. For serious off roading independent front suspension just doesn’t cut it …travel is too limited

For serious off-roading you build a custom vehicle with an aftermarket suspension. So what type of vehicle you start with matters little.
