- 1967 Cadillac Fleetwood Eldorado Junkyard Find. First year of the front wheel drive Eldorado makes its way to the junkyard missing its #Cadillac429 engine and transmission. Other than that it was pretty much complete. I have to say I really like the style of this generation Eldorado. Too bad GM had to make it front wheel drive. I was hoping this one would have a telescoping steering column but at least it still had the #stratobenchseat. The body was actually not bad overall and the #hideawayheadlights were pretty cool looking along with that tail end. I must say I started to think if there was a way to make it rwd but it would be tons of work. This one will live out it last days being parted out before ultimately heading to the crusher.
Whoa Nelley, '67 was the first (FWD) and these things were always dying of thirst. Yes, disc brakes were optional in 1967. Bill Mitchell was the designer of it, and yes the concept car you mentioned was the inspiration for it. I thought GMAC said his friend bought this car. Yes, pretty straight for the age and could be put back together with some TLC.
No, 1968 also had hideaway headlights and they were eliminated for the 1969 model year. Yes, 429 in 1967, 472 in 1968-1969 and 500 for 1970. The 500 would be an exclusive to the Eldorado until the 1975 model year. Yup, THM425 which was a derivative of the THM400.
We got the tag, we can brag: 04D for the fourth week of April 1967 production, 67 for 1967 model year, 69347 for two door Eldorado coupe, FWD for Fleetwood body plant aka Clark Street/Detroit, MI assembly, 12 for Grecian White exterior paint, 000 for non-stock/special order trim appointments, accessory code of E is for Soft Ray glass, N for power vent windows and power rear windows, M for power door locks, K for automatic climate control, 1 for AM-FM stereo. As others mentioned those are the rear reading light switches.
We got the VIN, we win: H for Eldorado, 7 for 1967 model year and the rest is the production sequence. As noted before, Cadillac had very unique VIN number construction that wasn't like other GM divisions of the era. Just another way Cadillac was very different and unique. You really made it in 1967 when you bought one of these. Today, if you own a Cadillac, you bought the equivalent to a high end dishwasher at best.
Whoa Nelley, '67 and might be going to Heaven. 429 and it's out of time. El-D, it's over for thee. That's it, time to quit. Was home to mice, now not so nice. Grecian White, no longer in flight. THM425 took a nosedive. Going to maybe be flat and that's that. Over 4K on the scale, it's as big as a whale. Going to get squished, and the Cadu faithful are quite pissed.
Great info!👍😎
@@markhamrick9078 Sure thing.
Hope someone does save this baby
@@NotaMechanicJack I thought a friend of GMAC did.
These were known for that monster chain that connected the engine to the torque converter.
I proudly own a 67 Eldorado great to see rare finds like this still out there.
The cadillac Eldorado is a marvel of engineering at the time 472 cubic inches and front wheel drive thanks for sharing this $4000 was a lot of money in 1967
67 had the 429, the 472 was introduced in 68. Beautiful car either way.
In my opinion one of the most beautiful cars of the 1960's. Thanks for the upload 😊
That's a keeper.... Even if it needs a drivetrain -dash pad, windshield and floor patch..... Nice find
I'm finally watching this, been so busy with work this summer traveling for work. I was born in 1967, a nice find.
What a nice car I hope that it gets saved
One of the most beautiful cars ever made.
Great looking car I like the hidden headlights.
That's a very restorable car and with the prices increasing well worth doing.
Love me some Cadillac
LOVE these cars!! 1st of the front drive Eldos. Sleek, edgy design... SWEET!!! Definitely salvageable!!👍😎
Incredibly stylish design!
Man, that Caddy's body is one of the straightest that I've seen on a 60s car since I subscribed to your channel a long while back Ben. No tin worm issues either aside from what you found which is nothing. I hope someone saves it.
That curved window in the steering wheel bottom half has the telescopic lever right there. The 3 screws in the slotted plate are to adjust the full lock for the tele if it doesn't hold tight enough.
Cool Caddy.......................... 👍👍👍
This show is just Awesome...I love this kind of stuff!!..old cars!!! Thank you Classic ride society!!😃 Enjoy your day!!
What a Nice Caddy! Hope it gets Saved from the Crusher!
He decided to sell it. Here is the ad.

Benny I love that Eldorado. it is beautiful. I wish somebody could save it
He is now trying to sell it. Here is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
You find a jewel like that....you find the effort to bring it back.
The guy is parting it out
@@ClassicRideSociety sad.
I love that ELDO.. Sweet ride. You just don't see them anymore.. You should snag that one Benny.. If not just for a conversation piece
That is a perfect restoration project
What a beautiful car it was can't believe it
Love it
I'm a huge fan of these Eldos
I need another one, a keeper
What a great looking car. So much more style than today. The tight, molded in bumpers flow so well.
Pretty solid 67 Eldorado luv the hide away headlights be awesome project.
That front bench seat still looks great👍 Always sad to see a once glorious car end up in a junk yard.
He has decided to sell it. Here is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
Decent looking caddy, certainly deserves to be saved
I agree with you, GM shouldn't have made the Eldorado front wheel drive
Love your videos!
Light switches for the c-pillar light AKA reading light. Sure hope someone save this one!
He is now trying to sell it. Here is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
My Brother had a 1968 and it was nice so nice 👍 Sweet.
This thing is my dream car and will be my first purchase when I win the lottery
Love those old eldos
Beautiful ride
The hood is so large that it was manufactured in two separate stampings and then welded down the middle covered with the wind split moulding. This example without a drivetrain is now a parts car...very expensive car to restore due to unique parts.
Love them late 60’s Eldorado’s, that front end is all business
That is a crying shame that body looks sweet
Love all your videos keep them coming
👍
Sweetest caddy ever made 67!
What a beauty! Hope it gets rescued
He has it for sale now. Here is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
Don't let this eldo get away ! You should buy it. As is ! Great find!
They are parting it out
That would make a great car. Thank you for the video.
He's selling it
Yes 429 and then for the 68 and 69 they had a 472 motor and then they had the all new 500 motor for the 1970 Eldorado.
Nice car Benny
What a shame it ended up there. That is a classy car with clean fluid lines.
I agree with you buddy!
True
Definitely!👍
Front discs on the 67 Eldorado was a rare option, snag them up. Also get the hubs, knuckles, master cylinder and proportioning valve
That car was someone's pride and joy . Shame to see this in the bone yard , don't know how much interest there is in these big old boats .
Most definitely was. According to the trim tag, it was ordered with a custom/non-stock interior. That's what the "000" on the trim tag means.
They are becoming more collectable in stock form
@@donselke9487 A lot of these type of cars are indeed.
This deserves better than a rodent motel fate. Maybe someone will build a create a unique restomod from those bones.
I envisioned a rwd conversion but I think its a pretty big project
@@ClassicRideSociety I thought a friend of GMAC had bought this according to his short video on it.
@@ClassicRideSociety One of the best design of cars of all times...the same level as a Corvette...
@@ClassicRideSociety Jay Leno did a RWD conversion on a 1966 Toronado.
Great Design!!!!
That car is the one that should be restored!
He has it for sale now. Here is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
Wow that looks straight and solid. Well except for the big hole in the floor, that's kind of strange.
Trans in those is just a turbo 400 with the rear part reversed and connected with a chain.
beautiful solid car. If I was 20 years younger I would send it over to Ekstensive Metal Works and have Bill slip a new frame and drive train and work that body it would look fantastic
OK man, you made me a fan man. Hitting that SUBSCRIBE button now, man. Much love from Cali
That would be a nice restoration project.
This car MUST have come from a northern state. The way the floor boards are rotted under the back seat and around the floor in the front leads me to believe that this beautiful car lead a bad life. These are extremely rare cars and im just as surprised as you to even see it in the Junk Yard. The remaining parts alone are worth a small fortune to Eldorado collectors.
He tried to sell it. Was still there last time I was at that place
Tantos años pasaron y los asientos estan en Optimas condiciones de esa carcacha 😌👌
That car DOES have a tilt/telescopic column... In 67 (and maybe 68) the slider to unlock the telescope feature was sort of flush with the rest of the column.
Either way... That 67-70 Eldo was an absolutely gorgeous car... Especially the 67s because they hadn't gotten too "Baroque" yet with all of the cursive script and "Mediterranean" style interior trim doodads.
CHEERS!
Yep you're probably the 10th guy to point out that it was a tilt. Suspect you wont be the last either 😄 👍
Mediterranean style interior trim? 1973. It was a bit much. Big fake wood squares at each end of the door pulls. They had scrolly patterns engraved in them.
The Toronados were also in league with the Eldorado back then. I had a 72 73 one black one charcoal grey. Wish I had them today. Also had the 70 Eldorado in gold with bottle green interior...Which reminds me the 70S Lincoln Continental MKIV were also unique, short rear end and a 1/4 mile hood all are Awesome rides..
I am In the process of putting a timing chain in my 1970 Eldorado. Has a good body but somebody gave it an Earl Scheib Gumby green paint job many years ago.
@@barnabyjones6995 Gotta post a pic when done. I love that body style..
Very Very Very BEAUTIFUL CLASSICS , Big hug from friend Marcos Polux Brasil 🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲❤️🇺🇲🇧🇷🇧🇷
I could cry
I just saw a razor back for sale it was 46,000 dollars I wish I could come get this. This makes me want to pass out Benny please buy this this car is worth 40 grand restored
Dang that thing is straight,it's a shame it's in the junkyard.
Damn this caddie WOW and it’s 2 door
Benny I remember Linda Lovelace drove one of those El Dorado's in deep throat. Love those cars.😊👌❤
That looks to have the trumpet horn in it - you ought to grab that. Pretty hard to find anymore.
Would save it if I had a chance to. Enjoy your Sunday
This and the later versions of this car are, I believe, the finest work ever done at Cadillac. Early 80's Eldo are almost as good Owned a '70 model, renovated from a junk yard find
Nice find👍. Are they selling parts off it? I could use that front disc brake setup for a 1966 Olds Toronado I'm putting back together.
Fun trivia, Cadillac "borrowed" the FWD setup for this car from the Oldsmobile first gen Toronado. Developed by Oldsmobile, and referred to as the UPP(unitized power package) it consisted of the Olds 425 engine backed by a chain driven TH425 which was a TH400 split in half and turned backwards with a small differential unit attached directly to the case driving the front axles. Cadillac used their own engine for the Eldo, but it's a very strong drivetrain package that was popular and used for many years in other GM products, including motorhomes.
There was actually an Olds backed drag car version called the Terifying Toronado with TWO 425 engines, one in front and one in back. It ended up being rather dangerous at speed, and unfortunately was retired pretty quickly.
Was lucky to get to drive a '66 Toro back in the mid 80's! Power, comfort and style! Plus, loved those barrel- rolling speedometers.... one of the coolest ever! Glad you have that rolling piece of art/history.👏👍😎
I knew a guy in NYC that built the "double ended" Toronado. It was two early Toronado fronts that were put together. So, you never knew if the car was coming or going as the joke went.
@@markhamrick9078 yep, I was happy to have found it. Such good looking cars, with a FWD big block to boot. Can't wait to get it on the open road.
@@VetteSource Feel good for ya! 👍 Sure she'll get lots of attention wherever you go!😎
He decided to just sell the whole thing. Here is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
Metalic paint or metalflakes, crocodyle vinyl roof, spoke rims or custom classic style wheels, leather interior and Cadillac cts-v engine 😵🔥🔥🔥😎 nice car...
Omg I'd so save that I love Eldorados oh how I wish it was close to me who could get rid of that I just look at 3 on line for 37900 you need to save this razor back
This front wheel drive arrangement first was introduced on the 66 tornado and would find its way onto the gmc motor home in the 70s
These sure got around good in the snow up north here with that front wheel drive.
What a gem EZ 10 grand as is.
As a Cadillac collector this Eldorado has to be saved and restored

A rare Cadillac Eldorado 67
The Eldorado had a 500 the Cadillac DeVilles had 472s this front wheel drive system never had problems it was very heavy duty it was used in the GMC motorhomes the Eldorado and Toronado's were well known for having flat floors
In 67 the Eldo had a 429. I believe it was the last yr before going to the 472 for 1968-69. The 500 came in 1970 I believe
@@ClassicRideSociety I know that my 70 coupe deville and my 73 coupe DeVille had 472s they were brand new they both came with 472's I looked it up I was wrong it says the eldo started with a 472 or to be exact 471.9 but was still refer to as a 472 the Fleetwood also had the larger engine the DeVilles had smaller engines
@@ClassicRideSociety 1970 is the only year the 500 had 10:00 to 1 compression from the factory rated a 400 gross horsepower. In 1971 the compression ratio in the 500 was reduced to 8.5: to 1 reducing the gross horsepower rating to 365.
Wish it was up for sale

I have seen a 1958 Eldorado. Not just a trim package but a unique body from the Coupe de Ville.
Stupenda questa auto Cadillac è un modello che mi piace
Cool relic, don't see many. Too bad she be getting the crush. Lot of useable parts. Good vid
Forklift ,finally managed to keep body damage from moving this car around. 👍🏻
The license plate said Texas! Little to no rust! 67 and 68 only for hideaway headlights! Correct! The 429 CID Engine. Last year. For 1968 the 472 CID Engine! Then 1970 for the 500 CID Engine! With 400 HP! Where is this Cadillac Eldorado?
Dallas TX. He has Decided to sell it. Hete is the ad. facebook.com/marketplace/item/534841340963089/?ref=facebook_story_share
Hi Benny... 😎 This car is a killer, too classy... 👍 I like this 2 doors... 👌
In that caddy in its day you could drive across the country and feel as if you were sitting in your favorite living room lounge chair. Just saying.
If I was financially able I'd buy that restore it and then review beautiful all original red and red guts and white body with a white top..
Like the car would like to buy & restore

nice caddy yes it does have telescoping steering wheel, lock is on the center of the wheel 8:53
I was looking for that lever that is supposed to be right behind the steering wheel
@@ClassicRideSociety i fixed a couple of those loose columns back in the day ,a real pain in the rear
Elvis had one like this! Terrible died at junkyard! You closed his eyes 👀 that's the situation this Cadillacs at this moment!
In my opinion "Big Boned Gals Rule!!!" From a time when the USA was bigger than life..
Looks like they may have had thoughts of hanging onto it and keeping it
complete. Likely was taken off the road due to a transmission failure
and was a driver up until 2012.
Cool 😀
Its a shame this Beautiful Cadillac suffered such a fate
