6 Years later and you're still helping people. Cheers for this guide, has helped me so many times when I get stuck. I probably would have skipped the Biggoron sword if I had not found your video too.
The Biggoron Sword against Dark Link? I'll admit, I've never seen that one before, but probably because the Megaton Hammer is even better. While Dark Link is able to backflip away from the Biggoron Sword, he usually doesn't when against your almighty hammer, which takes out each shadow in one hit
I can't believe I didn't recognize Link's Shadow disappearing and becoming Dark Link as you walk across the room, crossing the little "tree island"!! THAT was a badass effect added to this already awesome fight- and everyone, please take that as a HUGE understatement. I love EVERYTHING about this fight, you're not paying attention like I wasn't, so you think, "oh, hey, I must be in the last room of the Temple- ohhh, hey, this doesn't look too good, I'm stuck with no way to get out ALL BY MYSELF!!" (Game): "Well, I guess you didn't take a second look at that beautiful tree standing dead smack in the middle of the room, Ik, Ik, you looked once but look again, but, hey, get closer, cloooooseeer, aaaand, wait, holy cow, what happened to my shadow, and who is that handsome looking man leaning a-gainst that treee!!?? GOTCHA!!! Wrong, and wrong again, my friend, you are NOT alone!!" This fight reminded me of being under a Genjutsu in Naruto- you're facing a dark, but ironically clear and transparent, but evil version of yourself, and once you defeat it, the illusionistic appearance of the room fades from an isolated island into a temple filled with water again. This fight was cool. Also, because it was a dark, or shadow-version of Link, yes, I personally feel that this fight would have much cooler to fight as a final boss, or mini boss- inside of the Shadow Temple, rather than the Water Temple, but, nevertheless, it was still one hell of a cool, badass fight for this game, especially in the N64- version.
fighting shadow link with the master sword is still easy lol, all i did is, when i lqnded my first hit on him, i loked backwards and attacked, and so on!
So if you are low on hp when getting the boss key that room has 2 pots both containing fairies. Catch a couple if you need the health. There are also 2 more pots just before the boss door containing fairies at 14:44
Thanks a million. I couldnt pass this part when i was a kid. Just bought a 2ds and got to this part and couldnt follow through on IGN's directions so i looked up a video and this was really helpful. Been watching your vids, good stuff.
You are amazing! I've been watching your videos and I just got tell I love the way you play! You've just done my worst game nightmare, the Water Temple, looks ridiculous! thank you, man!
At first I used the fire magic And then my strategy was not to use z targeting because it would be much harder, I would roll behind him when he's preoccupied with spamming and hit him from the back It was super cool
First time I tried beating dark Link I put away my sword and shield in a way to say 'I accept the dark side of myself', until dark Link started hitting me. I only had the master sword so I am struggling haha
i got to admit you made the water temple seem easy, including the dark link. Is a pain, in my case I know how to pass it by memory but I always forget something like a key, or a golden skull thingy and is a whole process to lower the water and it just gets annoying. Great Vid.
Dude thank you so much last year I tried beating it got stuck and had to restart and later on that year I lost ocarina of time I just bought a new copy and I have been waiting so long to beat this temple
The strategy you used with Biggoron's sword works with the master sword as well. I just simply lock on to him when he appears behind me and raise my shield and stab.. Wash, rinse, repeat. Thanks for showing me that. It makes this fight sooo much easier
You don’t need the upgraded long shot to get the golden Skulltula at 4:15. You can get it with the regular one on the platforms that are going down that water just get high enough.
at 2:10 that time cube isnt in an obvious spot on n64 like it is in the 3ds version. most people including myself have missed it because it is flush with the ground behind the chest, you have no idea its there.
I'm playing through this temple for the first time now, using this as a guide, started from the previous episode, but I do had the biggoron sword, but equipped the master sword solely for the Dark Link fight. For those who care; yes I've played OOT several times, just never beat it on my own, hopefully until now, because I could never get past the phantom Ganon fight. I sucked at play-ball magic.
Link: I found you faker! Dark link: faker I think you’re the fake hylian around here your comparing yourself to me ha your not even good enough to be my fake Link: I’ll make you eat those words
I'll quickly clear up a slight error in something you said just to make sure some of you guys don't end up using the crouch stab at a bad time! It doesn't automatically do the same amount of damage as the jump attack. It takes on the value of the last attack you did, and resets every time you enter a new room. In fact, the value it resets to is 1, which is a swipe of the Kokiri Sword. The Master Sword does 2 damage, 4 for jump attack. The Biggoron Sword does 4 damage, 8 for jump attack. So if you do nothing but crouch stab after entering a room, you may be thinking you're doing 8 damage, but you're doing 1 damage! Jump attack first, THEN crouch stab! Side note: deku sticks do 2 damage, 4 for jump attack. They're equivalent to the Master Sword. So for Young Link dungeons, jump attack with a deku stick, and then crouch stab to beat bosses really quickly! :)
In Zelda 2 on the original NES, you use almost the same trick to beat Dark Link. Crouch in a corner and strike and he can't really hurt you too badly if at all.
There's actually an easier way to do that room where you have to push that block onto an underwater switch It's the room right before where you get the boss key and you also explode two walls. Instead of messing with that block, you can jump on the switch underwater with your iron boots and then swim over to where you can exit the room but be quick.
+jonathan cox yeah same here! First time playing I used the big goron sword, then after I wanted to battle dark link legit with the master sword. It's hard but I really enjoy the challange in this fight
actually, if you use the hammer, the shockwave will always hit him and you can potentially beat him not only really easily, but also pretty fast and without taking damage.
The worst part of the temple: getting to the boss door. I literally had to keep reloading suspend points or I would’ve died. I’m not entering the boss fight with less than 6 hearts and no fairy, I need to keep the fairy. Actually, you don’t want the boots. You slide back down IMMEDIATELY.
The only trouble I ever had was missing the key below the platform in thr center room of the temple. After that rest is easy and no his biggest weakness is megaton hammer I get hit zero times and one swing gets him then he respawns and several hits later he falls. I did that even as a kid assuming he could not copy an item you use as a weapon. I always found him easy.
That was not useful Navi. But let's get to the point. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GIVES DARK LINK THE RESPECT HE DESERVES! Dark Link is awesome. Sorry. Got a little carried away there.
The time block behind the chest with the longshot was part of the floor in the 64 version... as a kid i was literally stuck on this temple for months because i couldnt find that fucking block. Imagine if one had youtube back then :´D

8 years to
9 years
Hint:if you use master sword don't lock on to dark link if you lock on to him well he will do what you do
Oh. Well, that explains why I was taking more damage at the end. It’s kinda hard to keep track of him without camera controls on the 64bit version.
That's it you won
I just jabbed at him with the biggoron's sword.
Thx
No
Tbh I used the Master Sword just because I wanted to keep fighting Dark Link.
•3•
Dark Pit i hate people who use the hammer or goron sword cheese
🌚
I got scared when he came running at me. Lol.
Voidoo Studio I just finished the Dark Link fight. I was shook. :O
Izuku Midoriya I always switch to the Master Sword every time I reach the Boss Fights.
I just shot him in the face with arrows until he died on my first play
I can't believe I didn't recognize Link's Shadow disappearing and becoming Dark Link as you walk across the room, crossing the little "tree island"!! THAT was a badass effect added to this already awesome fight- and everyone, please take that as a HUGE understatement. Sultan Bey I was playing along to this video and he discovered dark link first and spoiled the suprise :(
thePredman#9 lol Rip :(
Im having trouble doing this temple
This man wrote a whole story...
It is so awesomw
THANK YOU SO MUCH! THIS IS MY FIRST TIME PLAYING AND I HEARD THIS TEMPLE WAS DIFFICULT BUT YOU GOT ME THROUGH IT THANKS YOU SOOOOOO MUCH!
i want someone to talk about me like zeldamaster talks about the longshot
The word you were searching for at 1:17 is "opaque".
Dick Gray lol ikr, and he is older than me XD
ULTRAMONDASH Well, we all have brain farts.
ua-cam.com/video/da4ngNZFeVs/v-deo.html
When fighting Dark Link I pulled out my Goron sword and swung once *IT BROKE*
My life was done! 😂
kachigga boi how?
If it broke then that was the giants knife not the biggoron sword
Oh hun
shawn byers that means you got ripped ouff
Boi you stupid that was the giants knife
fighting shadow link with the master sword is still easy lol, all i did is, when i lqnded my first hit on him, i loked backwards and attacked, and so on!
Me too
He was easy with the master sword 😂
So if you are low on hp when getting the boss key that room has 2 pots both containing fairies. Catch a couple if you need the health. There are also 2 more pots just before the boss door containing fairies at 14:44
Translucent was the word you're looking for and you're perfectly accurate that's what dark link is
you should do a battle with Dark Link with the Master Sword
For Dark Link I just used the Megaton Hammer, and then once he got all aggressive I just spammed Din's fire and won 😂
The megaton hammer completely WRECKS Dark Link. Easier than the Biggoron sword actually...
well megaton hammer didnt beating dark link :T
I kept trying the hammer, but Dark Link kept dodging it. My best strategy for him was to not Z-target him and use the spin attack on repeat
Just spam b.... don’t move and target and spam b and you win
@@trimmien2350 hes trolling lol
i also used hammer to kil dark Link
how did you do that last part? I can't walk up the ramp. I keep slipping. it won't let me walk in a straight line.
I had to walk up the left or right side. Be sure to avoid the blades or you will slide back down to the bottom.
I just back petal without the iron boots! Just make sure you time the blades
Thanks a million. I couldnt pass this part when i was a kid. Just bought a 2ds and got to this part and couldnt follow through on IGN's directions so i looked up a video and this was really helpful. Been watching your vids, good stuff.
I killed dark link with the master sword
Homilz same
Homilz whl is dark lunk?
I meant who
ULTRAMONDASH dark Link i spelled it wrong
Homilz Leaved it like that :D
Ah yes I agree. This was definitely my fave fight in the game because SWORDS!!!
Because of you I actually really enjoyed this temple!! Thanks dude!
7:27 moves like this is when I totally admit your the ZELDA MASTER 💪🏾💪🏾
I fought Dark Link with the master sword and I didn't get hit
The gaming bro Nice!
Dayum nice
You are amazing! I've been watching your videos and I just got tell I love the way you play! You've just done my worst game nightmare, the Water Temple, looks ridiculous! thank you, man!
never mind. watched that part again and did it. Thanks!
I fought him with master sword. It was super fun.
same man. i like pain.
I fought with the megaton hammer because it was a new weapon
At first I used the fire magic
And then my strategy was not to use z targeting because it would be much harder, I would roll behind him when he's preoccupied with spamming and hit him from the back
It was super cool
First time I tried beating dark Link I put away my sword and shield in a way to say 'I accept the dark side of myself', until dark Link started hitting me. I only had the master sword so I am struggling haha
Almost everything need Zelda's lullaby
true
im playing the n64 version for the first time and i dont know how people did it
My thoughts on Dark Link were as follows "Sucks to be you I did the fetch quest."
i got to admit you made the water temple seem easy, including the dark link. Is a pain, in my case I know how to pass it by memory but I always forget something like a key, or a golden skull thingy and is a whole process to lower the water and it just gets annoying. Great Vid.

This is the most cryptic temple, thx for the help
Is there anyway I can start this temple over?I've been stuck on it for an entire month. I can't find the other keys to get to the longshot
My preferred Biggoron Sword technique for fighting Dark Link is to target, swing to hit his shield, then thrust. Works like a charm.
One other tip: Apparently, Dark Link does not like L-targeting with the Biggoron Sword. Just one swat per round and he'll be down in no time.
This temple is SOOO much better thanks to the changes they did in this version.
You don’t need the upgraded long shot to get the golden Skulltula at 4:15. You can get it with the regular one on the platforms that are going down that water just get high enough.
Thanks a lot I would have been stuck forever without you
at 2:10 that time cube isnt in an obvious spot on n64 like it is in the 3ds version. most people including myself have missed it because it is flush with the ground behind the chest, you have no idea its there.
The struggle is real with that climb to the boss lol
dude these videos are sooo helpful! this temple was starting to make me mad
Thank you so much, I stopped playing for a while because this level feels impossible. Finally got the last key!
I hate at 2:30 Cause of those tie wave, Always Die on them, Especially the One near the end.
The Water Temple is so confusing.
I only had a problem finding 1 key, but that's because I was being dum. This temple is not that hard.
Link: I found you faker!
Dark link: faker I think you’re the fake hylian around here your comparing yourself to me ha your not even good enough to be my fake
Link: I’ll make you eat those words
Even you got a bit confused. No wonder the rest of us think the Water Temple is a pain.
I like it how whenever dark link gets hit he does the same animation of when he dies in adventure of link! (Get what I'm saying.)
Yeees
I'll quickly clear up a slight error in something you said just to make sure some of you guys don't end up using the crouch stab at a bad time!
It doesn't automatically do the same amount of damage as the jump attack. It takes on the value of the last attack you did, and resets every time you enter a new room. In fact, the value it resets to is 1, which is a swipe of the Kokiri Sword.
The Master Sword does 2 damage, 4 for jump attack.

This needs more likes
fought him w/ the master sword only hit once : )
In Zelda 2 on the original NES, you use almost the same trick to beat Dark Link. Crouch in a corner and strike and he can't really hurt you too badly if at all.
Fun fact:if you have the master sword while fighting any enemy, link sometimes spin's the master sword for no reason
I didnt have the goron sword but i used the hammer. That helps too
Ocarina of time beats the zeldas lullaby song TO DEATH!! You have to play it way too many times!
Dark Link broke my Biggoron Seord. I didn’t even know that was possible in this game! Isn’t the giant’s knife less powerful?
Zeldas lullaby is like eponas song backward
Dalton Beers eponas song backwards is totinos
Thank you! It really helped :D
5:54 link is freaking out
there is a trick to dark link just use the fire magic crystal it hits him everytime ;D
Florian Way but it use way too much Magic
I fought DarkLink with the master sword for fun even though I have the biggoron sword
Reduxed Vines i used master sword cuz i didnt have epona but now im keep doing a glitch to get epona easier
Homilz is it the glitch where ingo dissapears?? XD
Well for Dark Link you can also use the Hammer, well that's what I used anyway. You make the battle REALLY lame with the biggoron sword :(
There's actually an easier way to do that room where you have to push that block onto an underwater switch
It's the room right before where you get the boss key and you also explode two walls.
Instead of messing with that block, you can jump on the switch underwater with your iron boots and then swim over to where you can exit the room but be quick.
Honestly, I got the biggoron sword too, and you were correct. Shadow link or whatever its called was too easy.
It's easy to use the megaton hammer than the biggoron sword on dark link
Shut the FRICK up Navi!
Thank you for doing this walkthrough man. Much appreciated.
When you said, "If you have the Biggoron sword, welcome to the club!", I thought, "The 301 club!"
13:19 I couldn't get a sliver key for that man I am stuck now I can't find any sliver key
When you crouched down and used the Biggron Sword on Dark Link, it kinda reminded me of that exploit on defeating him in Zelda II.
+TomboyGamerGal It's based off that animation
i prefer using the master sword on darklink makes the fight more intense
+jonathan cox yeah same here! First time playing I used the big goron sword, then after I wanted to battle dark link legit with the master sword. It's hard but I really enjoy the challange in this fight
The way I play this game is that I compete with you and try to beat the game first. Unluckily, this is my first time.
actually, if you use the hammer, the shockwave will always hit him and you can potentially beat him not only really easily, but also pretty fast and without taking damage.
When I was recording a video, I noticed that it got CUT OFF.
I LOVE THE MASTER SWORD, But I wish there was a sword called Sealed Sword.
Yeah...
YEAH THIS IS BIG BRAIN TIME. 😎
You made this temple look really easy actually. Impressive!
Where do you get the key to open this door? 13:20
EXACTLY
same problem
7:12 to 8:03
Same happened to me!
I loved the challenge that shadow link gave me. My giant sword broke so i had to use the master sword
I used the master sword without a shield for the dark link fight. Wanted to challenge myself. Absolutely wrecked him
Navy does not shut up.
Navi*
@@smok3_643 yes and she is nothing compared to FI
"The biggoron sword is dark link's biggest weakness"
What about the megaton hammer?
Luke, I think the mini-boss at the Water Temple is Dark Link because it’s Link’s shadow at the tree.
In 7:16 I actually got stuck in the gate and lost a heart but made it to the other side
I never beat the water temple because it was so confusing, and now I did, so that’s cool
I used my Master Sword just to intensify the battle with Dark Link even though I had the Megaton Hammer 😉
I know Navi doesn't shut up, Link, are you tired? Link, watch out, Hey, Listen!
Zelda master once said "SpIky BaLLs"
10:50 I just swam for it and took no damage
Shadow Link's easy, Dark Souls has conditioned me pretty well.
Grab the Big Goron Sword before Forrest Temple, though. 💪
Dark link is super easy with the master sword, if you dont lock on to him your sword hits like every single time
ZM has those anime gasps and noises On Pointe
Dude!!!! You are awesome!!!!!
I can get past the first two vortexes but the rest were pi$$ng me off lol thank you!
I literally cried when I beat Dark Link. Dark Link best character
That was not useful Navi. But let's get to the point. FINALLY SOMEONE WHO GIVES DARK LINK THE RESPECT HE DESERVES! Dark Link is awesome. Sorry. Got a little carried away there.
😮i love you man good work
I did a weird glitch on accident, I was spamming deku nuts to the left of dark link and he was stunned, after I hit him he lost his ability to fight.
Noice.
Guys, smack dark link with the Gordon hammer, he can’t block it and the fights over in about ten seconds
Way more fun with the master sword but you don't even need to crouch with that thing. Just push forward and stab.
Never noticed soon as you pass the tree your reflection goes away so thats how dark link come out i guess
Your fantastic playing make me feel like I'm stuped 😅
The time block behind the chest with the longshot was part of the floor in the 64 version... as a kid i was literally stuck on this temple for months because i couldnt find that fucking block. Imagine if one had youtube back then :´D
