This cant have a thousand views? This is one of the ALL TIME GREAT INTERVIEWS about Elvis. It should have 1 BILLION views. And WHAT A VOICE on JD. Best bass singer that EVER LIVED.
I'm so with you. If the older generation would watch you tube this interview would have that billion views as you say but the young people they don't really care about Elvis as the then that generation did who came from the 60sh. Yes, Elvis is remembered but not like it used to be. TCB.
@depper more like 13000 views 🤓 update: 2months later when I first commented, it's now 20,000 FYI
IM JUST GOING TO GIVE THIS 1.5 BILLION
THUMBS UP.BLESS THE TRUE FRIENDS
HE HAD AND STILL LOVES HIM. THANK YOU PRISCILLA FOR STANDING BY HIS NAME AND MUSIC.
💞💞💞💞💞💞💞
Elvis once said he wished God had made him a bass singer, as he loved Sumner's deep voice SO MUCH!! But if he HAD been a bass, we would have been DEPRIVED of Elvis's GREATNESS, his EVERYTHING!!! ❤️
JD SUMNER IS THE BEST BASS SINGER THAT EVER LIVED.
J.D. Sumner was listed in the Guiness World Book of Records as the LOWEST BASS IN THE WORLD!! The PROOF that he was the BEST BASS SINGER THAT EVER LIVED!!!
@@larrydewein check again he is third
J.D. was a true friend to Elvis.
I do believe Elvis is in heaven with my hubby I can't wait to get to heaven
Yes, Elvis was one of a kind. But from what I can see, JD Summer was one of a kind as well.
Excellent. I've learned more about who Elvis really was in 8 minutes than all the other stuff I've seen and read in the years since he died.
This is the best interview I've heard about Elvis. This man didn't just love Elvis as a person he had respect for Elvis straight from the heart JD Summer spoke from.Shame his hangers on didn't behave or have the same respect for Elvis instead of spouting lies ..
JD was faithful to Elvis. Elvis always said he was the best bass singer ever. I say Elvis was the best entertainer of all time and I listen to his music everyday.
Elvis was the best !!!
Ah bless JD , he teared up . He misses Elvis every day.
this guys voice is incredible
Indeed, rarely heard such a great voice.
A true gentleman and a loyal loving friend to the end
@reneekenney3122
Yes, he really loved Elvis. One of the Stamps quartet said that when Elvis pretended to be shot in Vegas to test who among his Memphis Mafia really cared for him, it was JD who shielded Elvis from being shot.
JD is a legend his self. He tells some interesting Elvis stories.
That man could sing the BOTTOM out of a note!!!
Love that bass!
Finally an interview with someone who was actually Elvis' friend and knows what really went on, not just someone who wants their 15 minutes of fame just because they rode his coattails all those years. Thank you and RIP JD, so we're 1 of a kind🙏❤
You were, sorry
@Susan Eliz i CAN BLAME THEM for trying to grab for any attention they could, most by writing books and telling lies about a man who was so good to them. So you're saying after he died, they couldn't get a job and that made it OK to make money lying about a God given, beautiful man who was no longer here to defend himself against their treachery?? That's just bs, I'm 😞. Have a blessed life. 👑🎤🎶🎵🎸⚡✌🙏✝️❣
Elvis & JD are singing to Jesus in Heaven, 💞🙏❤️🔥✝️🌿🕊️💫🌻 Precious 💖💐
In 1998 JD finally went home and with Elvis once again. They had a wonderful friendship and I truly respect JD and his words I wish more people who were close to Elvis would have said nicer words unfortunately a lot of the “Memphis Mafia” wrote tell all books profiting of Elvis once more nothing sells better then drama and scandals. Elvis wasn’t perfect but by God he sure did give so much of himself to everyone around him.
This man is a real friend! More than the memphis mafia.
I think they were real friends to Elvis. They did try to get him to stop abusing his medication bud if someone doesn't want your help or input then they won't listen they instead will argue. I should know. I have family that have problems with addiction. I don't think Elvis really knew how dangerous his habits were. He figured that just because it was perscribed to him meant it could do no harm.
Men like Red and Sonny were as close as brothers to him. They stayed loyal after he died. They wrote a book about him which they said was to try to shake him loose of his addiction, but he died just after it was published. He may have still died anyway since it's never been concluded that the pills killed him.
@@sfmc98friends don’t write a book like that? I would never do that to my friend! They knew Elvis? They knew nothing was going to make him STOP? They did it out of spite and revenge because they were fired! No I excuse for it! At least Red had remorse for it later if Elvis died but Sonny never did! And Sonny continued to make money off of Elvis At speaking engagements throughout his life riding in Elvis’ coattails making money! 😡
Elvis just loved JD's deep voice..... ❤😊
I rode the elevator with him in the Las Vegas Hilton in 1974. JD and two of the Sweet Inspirations.
amen JD is a awesome Christian love his music
I loved Jd and my daddy did too! We both loved Elvis as well! I’m crying listening to this interview. I’m glad he said what he said. Elvis took pills to pep him up and then to help him sleep. I don’t think for one second Elvis was a junkie trying to get high, he just wanted to do his job well because a lot of people was on his payroll, Elvis was human. If he had been a drug addict he could have afforded cocaine and the hard stuff but he didn’t want it. God called him home and I can’t wait to be introduced to Elvis Presley in heaven. First is my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! I believe that was Elvis’s first too🙏🙏🙏
jd Sumner was a great man and friend of Elvis,I think Elvis looked at him as a father figure and he is also the one that has never said a bad thing about Elvis that is a true friend rip jd sumner
Now I know how he can sing those low notes
My god...this is the 1st time ive seen this intervieuw...i could listen to JD talking all day!! You see and hear the love still, he has for elvis...May you rest in peace and sing youre heart out in heaven ,together with youre friend Elvis
This is way short of a billion views, if anyone knows Elvis, JD knows Elvis, end of discussion. . . . . . .
My brother was in the Stamps Quartet at the latter end of Elvis’ career. Sadly I was never able to see him because I was raising my family but he had a lot of memories from that time. I remember when he called me about his audition, he was so excited.
It would be great to hear those memories!
Who was your Brother?
JD was a true friend to Elvis. Never used him for money. I wish Elvis had had more friends JD ❤
You can tell that J D truly loved Elvis and the same would have been case with Elvis,,a true friend god bless JD and Elvis,,RIP 💖

Do you know (or remember?) if JD sang with a group years ago called The Sunshine Boys? It had to be in the early 50's. Don't know what the show was called, but they did about a 15 minute spot. Not sure if it was a daily airing. Thanks!
Yes he did👍✌️
J.D.; sensational!!!!!!!!?

"He's my friend'. "I know so". Is JD trying to tell us something?

Poor Elvis never had a minutes peace!!
Is there any footage of these deep voice dude during childhood and puberty? I want hear what he sounded like than. Curious if sounded like a grown man at the age of 10 or something.
who is interviewing him?
When did this interview actually take place? JD passed November 1998
1989
Dios tu sabias que Elvis Presley no había muerto y te lo llevaste a la tumba.... Bien por ti pero seguimos investigando
If you want to know the true story of Elvis, read Destined to die young. The only true story of his health and medication.
Elvis had 10x the normal amout of Codeine in his blood the time of his death The sad thing about it Elvis was allergic to Codeine I can't help to wounder if he was poisoned. His stepbrother claims that Elvis had told him on the previous night that Elvis had told him that the next time you see me I'll be on a different plane and another level His brother didn't get it and told Elvis that the next plain you'll be on is the one on tour day after tomorrow August 16. His stepbrother also stated that based on what Elvis had told him , he believes Elvis committed suicide
Elvis would never commit suicide. He read and believed in the bible and knew that you can't get to heaven if you take your own life. Let alone, he would not do that to his little daughter. Why can't people believe, when you live the lifestyle that Elvis did, your body is going to give out. People just want to make drama.
How about this. Elvis was just one of only a few, truly gifted humans that we rarely get to witness in a lifetime. But with all the flaws that we all have to deal with, like addiction, one of the worst examples in life's battles. His body just reached its limit.
Mr beast is just as popular as Elvis was now
Easy, old fella, Elvis may have had Jesus in his heart, but don't compare him like he was Jesus in human form, 😒
He was only referring to people known by one name, it wasn't a comparison. And JD was a staunch Christian
Many people who knew Elvis, felt that God was working through him. Listen to Myra Smith of the Sweet Inspirations and what Elvis did with them when he found out one of them was very sick.
what does he mean by backward? i didnt like that
Uneducated
Shy.
Elvis grew up in abject poverty which leads to an inferior status that I read affected Elvis all his life. Let's face it, he wasn't sophisticated which is why his manager was able to manipulate, con, and control him all his life.
@@joannemcclure3546 true but he was always in control of his situations he never took anything from his mafia men and did what he wanted, in the end while his movies were limited and he didnt travel, he made very successful movies meaning they were timeless and iconic, he seemed to enjoy it even though at times he may of not he acted with class
@@AntoninaRivituso Elvis always did his best with the movies but he was not sophisticated enough to know that he could have had more control in approving the scripts and the songs he had to sing in them. I heard him say in an interview that he became physically and mentally sick over that. And he couldn’t get out of the contracts. All his manager’s fault who didn’t care about Elvis as an artist, only as a cash cow.
Elvis had to smoke Marijuana the way he was on stage
No
Elvis hated marijuana.
If you had really cared you would have talked him into getting help with those drugs
What drugs? Aspirin and Tylenol?
You can't talk an addict into gettin help, if they refuse to acknowledge that they are an addict.
