Great interview! We're losing these guys every day. Glad you grabbed Richard.. Speaking of J.D. Sumner, ironically Elvis convinced J.D. to stop drinking whiskey. No one convinced Elvis to stop taking drugs.

Deeper than that, if Elvis had never taken a drug, he would have still died in his 40's like his mother and her two brothers. He had Alpha 1 double gene because his mother's parents were first cousins which there was no cure in those days. All inherited lung disease, which people saw Elvis using an inhaler before concerts, he had heart disease, which was witness to by hair dresser Larry Geller who said he had a mild heart attack in 1975 but make Larry promise not to tell anyone. He was in pain the last 4 years of his life. He really used pain killers then. His bloated look and pasty skin was from his liver not filtering toxins in his body. His father had his autopsy sealed till 2026, but his personal physician said 9 of the 11 systems in the body were completely blocked. read the book by Sally Hoedel, "Destined to Die Young".

This is a great interview. Rich is a wonderful storyteller. After hearing Rich tell the story of Elvis' charisma, magnetism when coming into a room, I now believe he was put on this earth specifically by God himself. Thanks Rich

Fantastic interview, i always think back to when they were around the piano and elvis tried to compete with who had the deepest voice, Eivis lost and grabbed JD's head in his hands laughing, ithink its fate to say that Elvis knew exactly who were a good fit for him and Richard was lucky to be a lady of that, well done guys for being able to interview the few that are still alive who have great stories to tell about Elvis. 🇬🇧🇺🇸

This is awesome! I love hearing stories of Elvis of course but JD as well! I was able to meet him several times. Actually talked to him on phone not long after his wife ,Mary passed away. JD was one of a kind. Just his sense of humor & his voice. They will never ever be another bass singer like JD. He was the best but Rich is right there with him! Loved this interview, thanks for sharing!

I have to say one thing… THE most valuable experience we ( fans of your channel and IG ) get to witness is the incredible bond between a father and son. A journey taken together that will live forever in your hearts, and these videos decades from now will be revisited by Michael to reflect on the amazing journey you shared together , which is priceless. As a father of two young men myself, the family values you hold are beautiful. God Bless❤

Nice interview with Richard Sterban. Always thought that it was a real shame that Elvis' first concert at Las Vegas in 1969 and outside Las Vegas- Houston Astradome 1970, New York 1972 and others were not properly filmed.

The cool thing about THAT version of Polk Salad Annie (Hampton 1972) is that Richard Sterban comes in early and sings the whole line "Polk Salad Annie, Gator's got your Granny!" The full audio isn't in the movie, it's only on the boxed set from last year. I think that's why Elvis made his comment.

Some On Tour scenes reveal how attentive Richard was to Elvis, as they all were really, but you'll notice Richard even looked for Elvis' approval after singing 'Sweet Sweet Spirit' on stage and during the 'I John' rehearsal clip. Just fabulous moments.
