RUSS CONWAY - “TIGER RAG"

* British popular pianist, Russ Conway (1925-2000), playing the classic jazz number, “Tiger Rag”. It was first recorded by the Original Dixieland Jazz Band in 1918 and became a much-recorded jazz classic and standard thereafter. It was added to the U.S. Library of Congress's National Recording Registry in 2002.

Got this on a late CD tucked away somewhere - not what you'd expect from Russ, doesn't quite hit the spot. Accompaniment is defo not Geoff Love - I wonder what Marcus thinks...

It's not up to his earlier standards of course - the arrangement could have been a little better, (not Geoff I'm sure), the playing was a wee bit careless in places, and the ending which seems to be a nod to Beethoven, didn't work that well imo. But Russ always pleases most people in any case.
