    Excellent video. I took a test drive in a new 2018 X5M a few years ago and loved it. I just couldn't see clear to spend a 100K plus on a vehicle.
    Back in October I took a test drive in the new F95 X5M competition. Within a week I placed a factory order and a month later, I took delivery of my 2021 X5M competition.
    These things are unbelievable for what they are capable of doing.
    Keep up the videos.

      Hi guys, I own a 2016 X5M also, and mine has roughly 87k miles. The only issue I've had was the air suspension (it quit inflating one morning on the way to work), so I needed to replace the compressor and both bags. My understanding is this is a common issue with the F85. My left turn signal indicator on my dash also stopped working a couple weeks ago, so that's the only issue I have (plus a couple of the parking cameras not working).
      Great to see I'm not the only one braving ownership of these things, but mine is staying stock (with the exception of exhaust mods and currently running 15mm spacers all around on stock wheels). I plan to pay off the remainder of my loan this year so I can get some 22in wheels with KW V3s, it's been great truck! And please lmk of any suggestions on the above.

    Echoing the comments from others, thanks so much for your dedication to these cars Edward! I just purchased a pre-owned 2017, same Donnington Gray as yours and similar options. What an amazing car. I found your comparisons to the X50i super helpful and ultimately went with the M myself. Thanks for explaining the plethora of features/functions in the interior; it’s quite the learning curve and discovery journey. I can also tell you that my gas gauge is usually around where yours is :-) Hope to see you around the streets of NorCal!

    Nice video Ed, this is Hooman from the forums. One thing you might want to look into (which I'm doing as well), is looking to go to the KW V3's to fix the too harsh issue. I also have the same concerns with the ride being a little too harsh when driving around with the family, and so far everyone says the KW's absolutely fix that issue. Not only does the car handle better, but the harshness goes away. Plus you get the awesome lowered stance! 😁🤙

Any suspension options for someone looking for a smoother ride? Adaptive cruise control is not available with this generation of X5M and X6M

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 роки тому +1

      Miles are relative. I’ve seen trouble cars at 30k and reliable ones at 100k. With 100k, should be able to get a detailed history of the car to know how it’s been over the last few years.
      My guess mostly highway mileage so that accounts for lower wear and tear on power train.

      @@eddiemcars History looks good, the dealer replaced front rotors and pads, fix some kind of leak, they put about 4K into it... all I see probably needs tires front and rear, alignment, rear bumper has a dent needs to fix and repaint and both side bumpers has a long scratch like it rubbed on bushes or trees going off road, they won’t fix all those....beside that it looks good inside black interior with executive package.

      Anything over 100k I would want some records to make sure it was maintained. I’ve heard of people having issues as early as 20k miles but typically if it’s solid, the kinks should’ve been worked out early on. Hey guys, how is it on long road trips? Mostly interested in engine sound: while it's a blast in the city, it could get very tiring when listening to it for 5 hours straight. Anyone? Ed? Thanks

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 роки тому

      At 70mph in efficient mode it’s cruising in 8th gear around 1600 rpm’s. The engine settles down quite a bit. Most of the engine sound coming in the cabin is artificially pumped through the speakers, you don’t notice it until the higher rpm’s and in sport and sport plus modes. Also if you don’t like the active sound you can disable it and it’s as quiet as a 50i at that point.

    I love my X5 and its just the F15 M package not X5M. But couple more mods and it'll be right up there. As for the Comfort Plus mode I think you can make that happen real easy, kinda lol. You have a great suspension I think your issue may lie more in the tires. Go down to a 20" rim or if you want all the cushion you can go crazy and go 19's. Either way Im sure you can do a 20" rim with a 55 tire. or you can stagger and do that for the rear only and do 19" in the front but go back down to a 50 tire so rim doesn't get lost in the tire and so more important you can achieve more comfort and not OD on body roll. I will say this tho, you cant just hit turns like that with all that extra comfort. So if you have the family in the truck more often then not you might consider maybe losing a couple style points but gaining drivability ones. Staggered would be my choice if I had to. But if my family only i there every now and again I would stick with the 21's all day! lol

    • @eddiemcars
      @eddiemcars  2 роки тому

      Tires made a big difference. I noticed a big difference going from the 20” to 21” but with Michelins and it improved the ride quality.

    I just saw this video and to be totally honest, environmental regulations will wipe these cars soon enough and while I am living in Germany (where these regulations are coming FAST) and still young, I am thinking about getting one of these as a replacement for my F15 M50d. Sounds crazy? Well, I do not like the looks of the F95; it is too polished for my taste and I really, really would like to drive a V8 before they're gone for good.
    The M50d is not underpowered at all but was a decision made out of prudence due to 120km (~75 mi) a day to travel to work.
    That being said, I have a fuel (diesel) consumption of about 11 l/100km (~22mpg) due to no speed limitations on German motorways.
    Would you recommend this car over an almost 400hp Diesel "just for fun" as a daily driver or would you say stick to the one you have?

      The overall technology is better. Audi didn’t update theirs until 2017.
      Cost and maintenance items should be all the same. Do your research. Make sure you
      Check the history of both vehicles. If they are visiting the service department every 2k miles then I would avoid. Typically it’s 10k miles or once a year. With those miles, one or two unscheduled visits are ok.
