- Welcome to another episode of Scrap Mechanic Survival Mode! Today my goal is to get the required materials to unlock the spud gattler, a gatling style spud gun! But in order to do that we need 50 pineapples. And we only got 5 pineapple seeds from our warehouse run. So it's time to do some farming. But farming these high value crops has some unexpected consequences!

Hey Scrapman, since the raid happens at midnight and its is too dark that the enemies blends in to the surroundings. Why dont you build lamposts around the places near you farm plot, then it is easier to see the the enemies and get rid of them before they get near and also to kill the tape bot that are hanging in the back.
They could also be on looped controlars making them spin

Even if you put the lamps near the base or inside, it would have to be unreasonably high to see farther which sacrifices visibility nearby
Try to stack them at different levels? Nope, the higher tier enemies destroy it.

i think its balanced the way it is. The tapebots are supposed to be high level bots that are hard to defend against.

I took a look around the code for what was going on with the broccoli the other day. Turns out that the code on line 404 of the file hvs_plantables.json has the broccoli harvest able dropping a tomato and then broccoli seeds as normal. From what I can tell "b5cdd503-fe1c-482b-86ab-6a5d2cc4fc8f" is the right id for the harvest, not "6d92d8e7-25e9-4698-b83d-a64dc97978c8" which is tomatoes and the mature harvest able right above it, so probably just a little copy and paste mistake.

@@Turtley72 Basically, the vegetables and seeds have different ID numbers. The harvest code for broccoli is supposed to give you Broccoli and Broccoli seeds based on the ID numbers, but for some reason, the ID for broccoli was switched with the ID for tomatoes in the interaction.
@@retosius7962 they totally did... I've been going crazy for 3 days with this and can't believe how simple of a mistake it was.

Do you know that sawblades are very very expense?
They don’t damage bots but the bots will stop before them for like 10 seconds so they do kinda help

Try and surround your farm with resource collectors, because I think they are indestructible and are relatively cheap.

Hey scrapman, you don’t have to worry about getting to the raid on time. If your farm isn’t in render distance the bots won’t spawn, and if you wait until like 12 pm the raid won’t happen at all. Please like so he can read this!
That could be considered an exploit though and not every gamer is into abusing those.
@@UltimatePerfection i wouldn't consider that an exploit honestly. If not 'exploiting' REQUIRES you to go back and defend every night. You shouldn't have to actively not exploit the game.
Hey scrapman. So I played survival myself and encountered a boss. Well seems like if you shoot at the head it only takes 45 shots (i think) to kill the boss. And squiddy was taking less damage by the tape bots because he had better clothes. The dresses act like armour. The greater tier of the clothes the less damage you take.

The red ones are probably either not in waves or in a farm with over 200 crops and all of them are rare

Question: drills are more gas efficient than wheels, so does that mean if you use drills as wheels its more efficient?
Ps. put a bed in your farm so you spawn there. Also, what happens if you leave your farm empty during the day, and then right before a raid starts plant crops...

Drills barely have friction and are heavier then wheels, meaning it’ll just spin out
Ik this is late but the reason drills are so efficient is because wheel bearings need to carry the entire weight of a car but drill bearings only need to carry the weight of a drill

If you really will test the spud shotgun you can enter "/shotgun" in the write bar. (Without "".) You can do it on a new (survival) map/save if you want. (If it's not working. Goto: “C:/ or D:\installed folder (Steam or whatever)\Scrap Mechanic\Survival\Scripts\game” and find “SurvivalGame.lua” file. Open it with Notepad

Goto that line ("function SurvivalGame.client_onCreate( self ))" and change “if g_survival then” to “if true then”. (Switch "if g_survival then" to: "if true then", delete "if g_survial" and enter "if true then". And then try to type in: "/shotgun" again. (But without "".)))

scrap man, the spudling gun was missing a lot of the shots and if you watch you shooting the bots (31:41) in slow motion you can see that it takes the same amount of spuds to kill them.

Honestly, serious respect to these scrap mechanic survival playthroughs, it took me a serious amount of time to even get a craft bot and these fellas are making this stuff. Again SERIOUS respect.

I recommend puttting a bunch of spinning sawblades infront of your farm. That way, the farmbots are scared to attack it.
The farmbot: "You seem vulnerable, let me attack you"

please let scrapman see this. if you plant your crops at the place were you got the spud guns bots will not attack but you must plant the crops on top of the mountain

I recently bought Scrap Mechanic for the first time, and just a few hours ago while I was playing, I got lost and one of those red farm bots smashed my vehicle (I had two small chest filled up with stuff and my inventory was half filled) rip me

A little tip about raids the bots are scared of the saws
Also spudling gun is good for hoards shotgun is good for boss due to it's high damage but low range and fire rate and normal spud gun is precision or small amounts of enemys and if the spudling gun had the same damage per shot as the normal spud gun it would be to powerful
It does have the same damage scrap man just missed a alot
If you use the keycard on top of the warehouse you can loot everything, you need two keycards (i think)
Edit: Build your farm on top of the mountain
Scrapman you can harvest the warehouse - you have to find two key cards one to get in and the other at the roof , which allows you to harvest the warehouse
Scrapman! Grow crops, then harvest them and don't plant again, that will reset the raid difficulty, and you should only get haybots and totebots, it worked for me, i've grown broccoli(and got tomatoes) and pineapples and never even seen a tapebot in a raid!

EDIT: To fix the spudgun running glitch, just crouch and aim the spudgun, then it will return to normal

Try cutting down the trees around your farm so it is easier to see hidden tape bots
Totally worth it! I strongly suggest that getting the spud gun be your number one priority when starting a new game. It is relatively easy to farm, it's fun and makes early raid defense all that much easier. Large crops are going to attract predators from all angles. You can beat one foe over the head with your sledge hammer and line up a shot with the spud gun for enemies that out of melee range. I'm farming for the fully auto version now but cant find and darn pineapples!!!!

When you go out of render distance of your crop there wont be any raid timer or raids so your crops are safe. As soon as you come back you will receive the “unauthorized farming detected” message and raids will start again 😉

Haybots are running away from water guns
ScrapMan is gonna need defenses. Something to fight off all the bots coming at him. Maybe some Spinning sawblade carousels to slice and dice the robots.

Hey, ScrapMan have you tried packing the tomatoes you got from the broccoli plant as broccoli in the packing station.

Spuddling gun: is clearly doing the same amount of damage but missing a lot of shots
The robot legs cause the lag!
Put a bed near the farm.
Put some lights down to see the tap bots and the bots on the sides better.
Use drills and saws for some auto defence.
Use robot heads at the front, they have high durability!
When you suck the crates up at the trader just hold the button. It will automatically suck it one by one, you don't have to smash the button.

Hey, I have been watching these videos carefully and I noticed something peculiar. Different bots actually have different fighting tactics.
Whipbots(greenies) are frontline bots to distract you from other bots.
Haybots are barbaric and they will try to hurt you and destroy everything.
Tapebots are snipers. They attack from long distances to surprise you( and kill you) and when very close they will go Kamikaze
The boss bot( I think it’s a clunkbot ) wants to chase after you. That is its goal, maintain a fixed distance and when it is there, it will try to kill you. It is however not very aware of the surroundings all the times, plus it is big and sloppy so it is bad at navigating tight spaces and gets stuck very often

I think i do too. I didn't really check my inventory before but i haven't planted tomatoes for a while and suddenly i had a bunch of tomatoes and couldn't find the broccoli
There was an updade today which supposedly fixed it. Haven't tested myself, but it was mentioned in the changelog
Legends say Scrapmans channel growth is like Pineapples .
I think that the gatling is worth it specifically for the boss or tight groups of robots, where you are more concerned with how fast they die rather than how many potatoes you are firing. Sure, individual spuds might do less damage, but you are firing more of them much, much faster. This means the enemies die faster, though it means you are burning more ammo.

HEY SCRAPMAN! Good tip for farming, the haybots and whipbots only can break wood at a certain height, so for the perfect height i found that the right heighy was when you could crouch underneath the horizontal wall. In my experience the haybot couldn't touch it and the greeny just chilled there.

Spudling gun: for bosses
Spud gun: for sniping single targets for example tapebots
Spud shottie: for crowd control
Boss farmbot: *appears out of nowhere*

I have an idea for your crops: You need to make something durable that the bots get under it and you make a hole to fight them without falling with them
Mr. Scrapman, sir, you should use your saw either for harvesting or for defense.
What an Epic video. Bravo!!!! You might want to create some external walls to funnel the bots into tighter groupings as the charge. Then mow them down with the Gatling gun.
