Yes, goosebumps, tears, and smiles are a sign of really GREAT music! We don't get much of that with today's music. This was Karen's favorite song...written by her brother and lyricist John Bettis, who knew her so well!
Her voice of course is incredible but it's also her delivery of each song. she really brings you in to the song, and you can feel and not only hear what she is saying.... simply the G O A T.
Karen has been my favorite singer since I was 5 yrs old. I am now a59 yr old man and I love her still and always will. Her voice could never be duplicated. R.I.P Karen...❤❤❤😂 James Zrenjad Desjardins.
Right up there with the top singers ...every note is spot on and her tone is perfect she was blessed with one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard...they said she sounded child like .. they had no taste .
totally unique voice the likes of which there has never been another since ! I remember buying their album " Now and Then " back in the seventies, and I played it till it melted down. She went from this world far too soon ! she is up there withe best of the best !
Her voice had such a special and sincere quality . What an incredible woman who God called home way too soon. Your reaction was so nice. She really was an angel. PERFECT is correct. I always felt sad for her because I feel like she never really found that special person. Thanks for another amazing reaction Sarah! Always so nice to see your smiling face 👍🏻👍🏻😁❤️!
@@SarahDengler She did get married , but divorced after 14 months. He was nine years older . She wanted children but he already had a vasectomy. Her friends say he was also abusive towards her.
The Voice of her generation and beyond....people don't try to imitate Karen simply because no one, no one has that voice. I hope when I get there I get to hear here greeting me with song....and Morgan freeman saying welcome 😁😁
Another marvelous reaction from you, Sarah. ❤ Yes, Karen was quite a singular talent. I think she was married a couple times, but they were unhappy alliances. She deserved so much better. 🥺
Karen truly had an angelic voice. What a loss her death was My favorite female vocalist of all time. She died of anorexia nervosa She truly starved herself to death because people were talking about her being too fat. What a loss.
Interesting point. KC was the unrivaled queen of ballads, but you're right, she wasn't a belter. Someone like Linda Ronstadt was more versatile, but no one could approach Karen on a ballad. Richard saw this and was forever turning songs that weren't ballads into ballads so Karen could hit them out of the park. Their first single, a cover of Ticket To Ride, was like that. KC also recorded a lovely ballad version of Nowhere Man. Even Santa Claus Is Coming To Town got the ballad treatment on one of their Christmas albums, and it's beautiful. Terrible pity Carpenters never got to cut a standards album. It would have been celestial. And would have sold like crazy, too.
Thank you, Sarah for your reaction. I hope you will react to a number of these 1970s songs by The Carpenters: Close to You; Top of The World; We've Only Just Begun; Ticket to Ride; Help; And When He Smiles; Superstar; Masquerade; A Song For You; Rainy Days and Mondays; A Rainbow Connection; Yesterday Once More; Breaking Up is Hard to do; I can't Smile Without You; I just Keep Falling In Love Again; Make Believe It's Your First Time; For All We Know; Only Yesterday; I'll Never Fall In Love Again; A Place to Hideaway; Mr. Postman; All You Get from Love is a Love Song; I Need Some Time; Sing a Song; All of My Life; Bless the Beasts and Children; Calling Your Name Again; Goodbye to Love; Hurting Each Other; I Believe You; I Have You; I Need to Be in Love; I Won't Last a Day Without You; Solitaire; Jambalaya (On the Bayou); Sweet, Sweet Smile; There's a Kind of Hush; Those Good Old Dreams; Where Do I Go from Here; You. These are all good songs; plus, there are more :)
If this is "TV live", they've taken the trouble to make a new recording, as this is certainly not the album version. This song was Karen's favourite of all Carpenters recorded. It expressed what she sought, but, sadly, never found...
Nice reaction and i have a question do you react to voiceplay "the Dragonborn comes"soon or do you react to it much later or do you not react to it at all?have a nice day greetings from Germany 😊
Karen has the most beautiful and warmest tone ever WA I cried when she passed in 1983. We lost one of gods angels. R.I.P our beloved Karen ❤❤❤❤

Listen to Tori Holub do a cover of one of Karen's songs. THAT voice has been reincarnated again in a blonde!
You don't need to get to heaven to know what an angel sounds like when she sings. This is that sound.
It’s that look from Karen at the end of the song, you can tell it comes from the heart 💔
It's hard not to feel her sadness at the end, especially when you know she was never able to find that love.
yes that look at the end is truly heart-breaking

I Love you Carpenters❤❤❤❤😊😊😊
Absolutely beautiful!!😢
Karen's voice was so pure and I don't think I have ever heard her sing a bad song.
Her voice is so sweet and pure. I think you're right, that she was an Angel, which is why she only stayed here for a little while.
truly!
Sweet, Pure and Smooth as budder.. ♠W.G.
what an amazing performance by Karen , and such a beautiful reaction Sarah 🙂
Truly an amazing performance, thank you!🙂
... ok, I cried

I not only love singing voice but I love her talking voice
that look at the end is so devastating !
and she did not find it, heartbreaking !

I agree that she left too quickly. I remember the day she died: 04Feb83 - that was a very sad moment :(
Listen to Tori Holub do a cover of one of Karen's songs. THAT voice has been reincarnated again in a blonde!
She sang very conversationally
Best female voice ever, the one and only Karen Carpenter. Yes, she was an angel on Earth. ❤
Wow goosebumpess
Like it ? Karen, I’ll LOVE it and you, till I die ❤️😍🥰🥰💐
Àngel indeed! She's one!
She also played the drums
So emotional
Thank you for reacting and aharing this song. It can bring a tear to a grown man's eye.

I know how you feel 🙂

My mum loved the carpenters she passed away last year 😢 💔
She is a legend, her voice is so sweet, so amazing
A voz não daí da garganta mais da alma. Nenhuma cantora transmite tamanha emoção. E a dicção dela é incrível. Vc entende cada letra pronunciada

As someone else posted. There is a reason their songs aren't remade.

She die to young, one of the greatest tenant of my generation, her music 🎶 will last forever.
One of the loveliest voices ever i love karens voice ❤🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
@Sarah- A Very sad song in a lot of ways but a great song. This is one of my fav songs from Karen.
Truly
Too cool..!
Simply the best...ever
If everybody says she is an angel, she must be.
Sung by someone who knows the song is about her. I love this song but knowing her search for love, the song also brings a sadness.
True!
I'd like to hear your reaction to "Goodbye to Love," too
I would have married Karen Carpenter just to hear her sing in the shower. Her voice melts me.
irreplaecable voice !!!!
You are right. If angels sing in heaven they sound like this. Thank you Lord for Karen.
So beautiful
Fantastic thanks for posting
They'll never be another.
Best reaction I've ever seen to Karen Anne. You felt it all.. every angel tone. 💞🌹💞🌹💞🌹💞🌹
They simply don't come any better!
All their songs are beautiful~~
One in a million voice ❤
Do much more of the no. 1 Karen Carpenter

I love your commentary..and insight.
Thank you
Karen Carpenters ...la mejor voz femenina que escuche en mi vida!!!😍
She couldn't belt a song, but she had such a clear, rich tone. Angelic.

Karen Carpenter was so amazing. Another beautiful voice is Alison Krause. Listen to "When You Say Nothing At All"
You described Karens voice wonderful...Most talented singer and drummer ever!
Thank you Sarah, could you listen to "You"? please
God she was perfect
By this time, Karen was quite thin and sick. Yet she could still sing.
Karen was beautiful there....

She was suffering at that moment....😢
among the many sad things
was that she didn't realize
how many people love her
even if her mother did such a poor job
😭

Not to mention that was LIVE !! No studio enhancements, no auto tone. She was an angelic and so sad to have lost her so soon !! 🙏🏻❤️
Pay attention red blue ? I'm purple 💜 💎🤚💎🦶✝️ I live in California
Tori Hulob has gotten as close to that voice as I've ever heard.

The sad thing is that it was all true. She never did find that perfect love.
Look into other Carpenter songs. There are other songs that show off her voice.
How about some props for the band, and the guys who wrote the music and lyrics? It wasn't just Karen.
Would love to see your reaction to Prince “Motherless Child”
