I’m a little biased since I’m a Catholic weeb, so I really like Luce and I think that it’s great that they made an anime-style mascot. I hope to find more fan works for this character. I’m just glad that they didn’t try to connect with the youth by doing a cringey Tik Tok trend. Normally, when companies try to be “hip with the kids”, they end up being cringe. It’s actually surprising to me that Luce ended up being pretty well-received. And you know what? I think the hate is kinda unwarranted. Depictions of Christian iconography have evolved with each era’s art style, from older than the Byzantine Era, ‘til the Renaissance period, until today. It shouldn’t be so surprising that contemporary styles are getting incorporated into Christian art. Pretty soon, we might see manga-styled depictions of Jesus in churches in the future, and I think I’m looking forward to that time.
I do not think we'll see such icons, especially because it's not that it was an "art style". It was an image that not only depicted a person but also the process of the image itself, which was from chaos to prefection, a reference to how the world will be once Christ returns. There were many more "aesthetically pleasing" or "realistic" paintings before the "orthodox ifonography", so it wasn't because they didn't know much about the body, but instead they didn't focus on it purposefully. They were trying to convey a message not an aesthetic.
'Luce' is clearly linked to the adversary, and introducing such an icon into the Church distorts the faith. This isn’t about aesthetics but the erosion of truth and misguidance of the faithful. What’s next-manga depictions of Christ? The Church’s role is to preserve Christ’s message, not follow trends that confuse and mislead.

Eastern Orthodox Catechumen here. I will say my opinion is not entirely relevant, but I have mixed feelings. Haven't come to a conclusion. On the one hand it may be the one shining light in the perverse world of Anime, which a lot of our youth, even religious youth, are sucked into now adays. This could be beneficial for appealing to them in a wholesome way that is applicable to Faith. On the other hand (from a theoretical perspective at least) any time our traditional religions try to appeal or conform to modernity in any way, or in any time period, it leads to the modern culture subverting tradition and the very values of faith. In this instance, I don't think its the worst thing in the world. But Catholics should never let their guard down. Lest you get pride flags in your parishes. With love, God bless.
But isn't this why catholic church was able to spread so much? Because it was able to adjust itself and its messaging to current and local culture if it was needed? And I agree that it can lead to some problems. For example, I think that in our slavic culture sometimes we can see, at times even unhealthy, cult of Holy Mary, that seems to derive from pagan slavic traditions. And it's still visible probably, because people who evangelized Slavs back in time were adjusting to culture of the people. But as much as its repercussions can be problematic at times and in certain situations, I am still happy that christianity had a chance to spread and show us the true, one God.
And I also don't think that anime is "perverted" in its nature. It's just a style of conveying art. Would you say that movies are bad, because there exist erotic ones? Although I agree, that in community surrounding anime there is a large representation of people that... don't seem to care that much about sexual virtue or decency... But it's not all like this. And there are anime and anime fans that don't engage in this depravity. God bless you too, my friend in Christ.
What is so bad about cute innocent looking children figures? Didn't Jesus said in Matthew 19:13-15 13 Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such. 15 And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from thence. -God's Word: recorded in the Douay-Rheims Holy Bible God bless us all.
Nothing at face value, but anime has been recently known to depict, eh, “unchristen” behavior between young teenagers and adults. Honestly there is a lot of anime that is just straight up pornography or at least contain aspects of it. There are probably degenerates who are already making “creative” depictions with these characters. I hope it goes well with the church, but they should prepare to see their characters in unsavory positions and how to deal with it.
There are movies that are straight up pornography. Would you say that because of this, making christian movies is wrong? And enemies of our faith were doing much worse things to christians themselves (we have a whole lot of martyrs in our religion), not even talking about our iconography. But we persevered that. So I doubt that all of this is that much worse... God bless you, my friend.
i think i accidentally posted a draft comment 😅, so i will get that deleted as soon as i am able. anyway, just wanted to say from an outsider’s perspective that this mascot is adorable and is a big win for the catholic church.
I really don't understand all the fuss about luce, it's just a character that was made to reach out to the youth due to cultural changes and dropping church attendance, honestly it really only feels like people who are getting mad over this are people who really don't know what they're talking about, you can't keep the same exact thing over a long period of time and expect people to still like it, things change, culture is malleable and the best way to do it is keeping your values as well as slightly changing how everything works. Like hell, example the church used to do self-flagellation (whipping your own back until it bled) until the 1400s were it got banned.
I know that Luce means light, but Luce sounds like Lucifer the Devil and he can change his shape. Luce could actually be the Devil or even the Antie Christ
What's it matter? No, seriously. Why does it matter? All things have come into being through Jesus, and He is the ruler over _all_ creation. What part of that are you missing?
You're right, I'm sorry, I got into it too much. I just tend to be paranoid because I'm too stressed at times. I shouldn't judge a child, even if it's just a fictional mascation
@saschamaier9490 It's understandable. There's so much evil in the world it's hard to miss and impossible to avoid. I just wonder at times if it's actually beneficial to put so much emphasis on all that, ya know? I mean, even if you've got a million evil spirits at your doorstep, knocking at your windows, and following you around all day, not one of them wields authority that hasn't been granted to them by the Lord Almighty. And if He allows it, He's definitely got a purpose, and that purpose is assuredly good. So faith in Jesus Christ remains paramount. When Joseph was sold into slavery, when Jesus was betrayed into the hands of the Romans, the story is the same: "What Satan intends for evil, God intends for good." So seek good rather than evil, especially out of season. If good simply is not present, then extract the precious from the worthless. I recall the story of a Jew who survived a camp during the war. They recalled how a friend complained of the fleas in their quarters. Still, they encouraged one another to keep their faith. They survived, and when they were released they came to learn that the reason they were spared was because the officers avoided their quarters on account of those very fleas who added to their suffering while they were imprisoned. "And the Light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not grasp it." - John 1:5
If protestant evangelical channels can have children's programming, why can't we? And besides, teenagers are a little too old to be interested in Veggie Tales. I say why not?
I think they've just made kids wearing raincoat and a muddy boots, nothing else, everything else are just coincidence because you know, it is imoossible to "copy" every characters in Existence (God=the Existence). They also made Fe, Xin and Sky.
Nope they have the same root word that means light in Latin. Lucifer isn't a bad name, It actually is a very lofty and respected name but the angel who was lucifer or the "light bearer" turned against god. Just because lucifer turned against god does not mean that all light is now satanic.
Not all, only some. Vinland Saga, for example, is an anime with great Christian relevance based on a real person as well, with a fictional twist. His son in real life established churches in Iceland as well.

Luce is simply another desperate ploy by Satan to keep some people to trusting a religion/church as their saviour rather than the God the Son (who is a Person, 1 Timothy 2:5, not a religion/church) as their Saviour.
There was a saint named Lucifer, and the name Luce just means light. Are you meaning to say that the Italian language is satanic just because the word for light slightly looks like the name Lucifer -- which is not inherently satanic?
Luce means light, and Lucifer is light bringer In fact, Jesus himself has been referred to as Lucifer in Isaiah Helel is the devil’s name as an angel, Lucifer is just a title.

Didn't Jesus said in
Matthew 19:13-15
13 Then were little children presented to him, that he should impose hands upon them and pray. And the disciples rebuked them. 14 But Jesus said to them: Suffer the little children, and forbid them not to come to me: for the kingdom of heaven is for such. 15 And when he had imposed hands upon them, he departed from thence.
-God's Word: recorded in the Douay-Rheims Holy Bible
God bless us all.

Bible-thumpers begone! I love Luce ❤
I'm a bible thumper and this is the biggest catholic W since Lepanto and Vienna
Estas vere bedaŭrinde, ke tia kanalo havas tiom malmultajn abonantojn.
i think i accidentally posted a draft comment 😅, so i will get that deleted as soon as i am able.
anyway, just wanted to say from an outsider’s perspective that this mascot is adorable and is a big win for the catholic church.
Like hell, example the church used to do self-flagellation (whipping your own back until it bled) until the 1400s were it got banned.
interesting choice
No way they made the Holy Loli
No she's holy Miku.
You sound like an anime character lol
Well, well, well, the Mariolaters have finally done something good.
Lol that's a new one, creative, "mariolater". I like it
I know that Luce means light, but Luce sounds like Lucifer the Devil and he can change his shape. Luce could actually be the Devil or even the Antie Christ
We will see how it unravels
Tell that to the people names Lucy, Lucia or heck even Jesus since he is called the lightbringer and morningstar
I say why not?
or I'm thinking about it too much, sorry
I have mixed feelings about it, but I'm American Lutheran so it doesn't really reflect on me
Same lol, I'm LCMS
Why hate on it. There is a surge of popularity of Christianity on the internet because of it.
It’s a copyright infringement chibi Ai Ohto from _Wonder Egg Priority._
I think they've just made kids wearing raincoat and a muddy boots, nothing else, everything else are just coincidence because you know, it is imoossible to "copy" every characters in Existence (God=the Existence). They also made Fe, Xin and Sky.
Why is this a thing?
Is Luce short for lucifer
Nope they have the same root word that means light in Latin. Lucifer isn't a bad name, It actually is a very lofty and respected name but the angel who was lucifer or the "light bearer" turned against god. Just because lucifer turned against god does not mean that all light is now satanic.
@@enolopanr9820 "lux" is light in latin, "luce" is light in italian
No anime for our children, it perverts the youth.
Not all, only some. Vinland Saga, for example, is an anime with great Christian relevance based on a real person as well, with a fictional twist. His son in real life established churches in Iceland as well.
Isn't Anime just another pipeline to Nazism?
"Anime" is literally just the Japanese word for "cartoon"
Yes, SOME anime has perverted stuff and questionable content, but it's not hard to find anime that is appropriate for all ages or otherwise has an uplifting message
@@NoQuestionsAskedd Yes, as well as to becoming trans, but not necessarily. The internet in general seems to be a pipeline to those, anime is quite an online thing, a young person's thing.
@@PyroGothNerd tbf, you will find perverted stuff everywhere you go, whether you like it or not (i hate it, and not only because its sinful)edit: that said luce is good and cute
Why would God want a mascot of any kind to receive glory that is rightfully His?
Jesus is the image of the invisible God and the only name under Heaven capable of saving us, why focus on anyone else? Jesus is enough.
Ok boomer
because a mascot can help u appeal to a younger generation lol
Its a icon for a year, not the new mascot for the entire church. It isnt taking any glory from god but actually quite the opposite. Our good works glorify god.
@@enolopanr9820 oh its only around for a year?
@@enolopanr9820 Isaiah 42:8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
This is just a subtle way for you to accept 'luce' ifer.
I am so unbelievable sick of that argument which is born out of ignorance of its original use age as a title BEFORE he fell and of LANGAUGE with her name only meaning light.
In fact go do research on saint lucifer. A real life saint who served god loyally until her death and ask DOES A WORD SCARE YOUR FAITH THAT MUCH. How little you think of gods power and how much you think of Satan's that a doll is how he will take you.
1000% real
@@nameless-m3e You forgot the negative on that 1000%
this is the antichrist
Lmao radtrad
Meanwhile, the defenders are using Rev 3:9 to attack the critics
Imagine being terrified of a girl pilgrim with a rosary. People like you are sick
@@ModernEphemera 🤣🤣🤣. You tell em.
Luce is simply another desperate ploy by Satan to keep some people to trusting a religion/church as their saviour rather than the God the Son (who is a Person, 1 Timothy 2:5, not a religion/church) as their Saviour.
you know that jesus was the one who founded the catholic church, right ?
I trust christ the king and lord of our church who guides our holy father and the magisterium in their leadership of the church on earth
crazy

Staff is a bident (two-pronged pitchfork)
There was a saint named Lucifer, and the name Luce just means light. Are you meaning to say that the Italian language is satanic just because the word for light slightly looks like the name Lucifer -- which is not inherently satanic?
Luce means light, and Lucifer is light bringer
In fact, Jesus himself has been referred to as Lucifer in Isaiah
Helel is the devil’s name as an angel, Lucifer is just a title.
@@intellectualgaming1151 So because it is Italian, it can't be Lucifer? That's not how things work, words in any language can be plays on words of any other languages, and you definitely know they knew people would draw such conclusions. Then pray tell, why not use ANY other name? The answer is because she represents the devil.
@@escapetherace1943 if she comes from Spain she will be named as Luz, in English will be Lucy, but she was made in Italy so an Italian named her Luce, the names I told are meaning light that derives from the Latin language tho.
@@seonsunnysunshine ok and the creator of Luce being an artist that makes things totally contrary to God and the bible? How do you feel about that
I think people who say “NO! It’s demonic and anti Catholic!” are waaaay to strict towards The Faith and don’t understand how new art or culture can be used to glorify God. I like her. 🩵💛
Most likely, they're Protestant, particularly Fundamental Evangelical Baptists. They like to demonize other denominations in some way.
