Did you sneakily hide an Easter egg in this slippy slides vid. I'd noticed certain Level names had specific letters in brackets and from all the letters if I'd done this correctly can spell the words Slippy and Egg. If not then that's quite a cool coincidence 😄👍. Also great vid Manhunt was a pretty cool game

I love how older games, specifically those from the late 90s and early 2000’s, were made. Games like Max Payne, Manhunt, and Splinter Cell all have a lonely and unnerving feel to it, with Manhunt as the most terrifying.
Finally someone put to words what I always felt
That's why I felt anxiety playing any of these games and feel that even today. Early 3D games were terrifying in some way, you could really feel how small you actually were in the game's world. All these games splitted to stages, smaller pieces of a map, were making you feel more like a lab rat, than the actual independent, human character
Now I know why those games feels eerie to play.
Idk why but I always felt kinda on edge in bully because that game has a slight eeriness that I can’t really describe

wonderfully said! no matter how subtle, well-done ambience has a HUGE impact on everything. especially in this setting, being close to a lively city, but not close enough for anyone to help or even notice you. theyre all just going through their lives, completely ignorant of your existence, let alone your suffering.... honestly a lot scarier than dead silence or nature noises.
and if you dont mind me rambling, this brings me to something else i just thought up. the fact this is an older game with both lower visual and audio fidelity, i find that disadvantage actually works as an advantage in this, just like most horror games... like how the whole point of a good amount of art is to fill in the blanks with your own personal thoughts, usually pretaining to your past experiences, thus making it more personal for you to view, i feel like having an ultra hi-fi super duper detailed background ambience wouldnt do much for this game other than just water that terror down a bit by making it sound more.... i guess "familiar" and "safe"

It's the timeless masterpece. I'm making some texture work on both for some time now. But sadly this version of renderware engine does not support heavier textures so it's not full potential. Modders should take everything out and put it in GTA:SA engine version.

if anyone is interested in seeing Manhunt videos, im uploading Manhunt contents on my channel.
Manhunt is set in the same universe as GTA so it makes sense that some of the cars and products make an appearance.
Yeah there are plenty of references between them, even in GTA 4 if you steal a cop car and use the computer to search the police database; you can see at least a third of the people profiled were born in Carcer City
I also saw Sprunk vending machines
Manhunt is actually in a slightly distant future in the GTA universe. In early GTA games, Carcer city is referenced many times on the radio as being a fully functioning city, but the mayor is corrupt and bought off by crime bosses. Manhunt is the future of that city, lots of rundown slums full of gangs run by a psychotic film maker who bought off the mayor and police to use the city to make his own personal snuff films.

You can even find figures of the characters in gta sa
Asset reuse isn't lazy it's smart management of resources it means you can spend more time on the bigger things.
Also they take place in the same universe so it makes sense in the context of the story

In fact, one of all the family members can appear in this cutscene, it just depends on who you've saved and who you've not saved in the previous scene.
But if you go there and kill all 3 (2 family and the hunter) the cutscene at the end plays normal? Does they respawn when teleported?
I played this game a lot and yes one time i did let the first family member die and it showed the woman who was the second to be saved, i think it's a really cool.
The reused assets are probably intentional, Carcer City is meant to be within the vicinity of Liberty City. It's also mentioned by name in GTA V.
No it's not it's supposed to be like Detroit/Flint Michigan.. just look at the beginning levels it's almost identical
Parts of it are based on those, but it's physical location is around Liberty City.
It has tunnels straight to Shoreside Vale in Liberty.

Was that on the subway map? I didn't catch it. Also, wasn't there a radio reference to Carcer in GTA IV? I could swear they mentioned something about its burning rivers. It's been a while. Pretty sure San Andreas had Cash and Piggsy figures in the toy shop you get the RC Plane missions from.

This game to this date still gives me goosebumps. No horror film, no psychological thriller or game has this power on me. This game is so chilling, but is truly a work of art that’ll leave you with nightmares

At 22:55 you have to alert the Cerberus to move their leader in that room(it triggers a cutscene when one of the cerberus suggests that the leader should be escorted in that room) after that te room becomes accesible
My dad bought me this game when I was 11 or 12, we both beat it together the first time and I played it every day until Bully came out, I loved Manhunt so much I even tried to emulate cash's walk/strut cycle.
Thinking about it now I must've looked a right twat.

*MANHUNT* is one of R* best games, they were on fire back then during the PS2 era and had some balls. I no longer care for what they do today but I will always love these gems.

The idea of the hunter just cutting Cash's family member loose and sending him on his way is so oddly wholesome... until you realize that it probably would've been done to fuck with Cash's mind and if Starkweather got his way he would've died without ever knowing his family was safe anyway.

Manhunt isn't a game about finding pleasure in murdering people for snuff films like the media said it was.
It's about a man begrudgingly playing the main actor in snuff films to repay the director for saving his life from his execution. And then killing the director for stabbing him in the back.
Even after finishing the game and going through all the outside-game secrets. We still never find out why Cash was going to be executed, well we know _why._ He killed a few people. We just never learn _why_ he killed _those_ people.
Some theories say he may have been a contract killer and that's how he knows the most brutal ways to kill people. He was so bad at hiding his work that he was labeled a serial killer.
Manhunt , Max Payne and The Mark of Kri will always have a special place in my heart . That ps2 era was the best
The graphics are still top-notch for a 2003 game, even on PS2.

@@user-sd5ne9gf7b The old Rockstar games have a super nostalgic look to them, but I always thought their graphics looked below average compared to a lot of other games at the time. Manhunt has an amazing atmosphere to it though that's for sure.
Hell yeah. My first truly "disturbing" game that I owned. The nostalgia is palpable. I was still in high school, and I was with my mom in a pawn shop. I saw this game and asked my mom to buy it for me. I'm so grateful she said yes.

I heard that people compared the stealth in the Arkham games to the stealth in Manhunt. Not to mention, in both games, you rely on being more than a man in order to take down threats

Manhunt takes place in the GTA universe if i remember correctly.
I actually hooked up my Ps2 to my VCR and recorded some Manhunt footage on a blank VHS tape, and surprisingly enough; you can't even see much of a difference, the only things that changed were the menu and the weapon selection images in the hud got slightly blurrier and more saturated in colour. It's pretty well-crafted if most of it doesn't even register as if it's been recorded on a tape, aside from the filters.
Although it was funny fast-forwarding and watching Cash creep around the map all sped up with his arms flailing around. And when I switched my Ps2's RCA cables over for older, damaged, more worn-out cables, well it created a cool, gritty, glitch effect.
Also I don't know what you mean by "Cash's female family member doesn't appear in the cutscene" in view of innocence, because the first time I played that scene; she was the one who was executed, by the blue hawaiian shirt-wearing innocentz member (Babyface #1). The second time I played it; I got the same cutscene you showed us here; where his male family member is killed by the red flannelette shirt-wearing innocentz member (Babyface #2).
Same here, I always had the female family member shown. Multiple playthroughs too, as I loved this game to death lol. I wonder what triggers it to be the male? Aside from maybe only being able to save the male family members, etc.

@@niaure6516 it depends what family members you save, if save only the male and not females, then the male cut scenes will pop out in view of innocence cut scenes. It all depends which family members you spare.

my memory is fuzzy, but i believe that woman model you saw alongside the other hostage and the Babyface waiting to be used for a cutscene is used if a woman is the sole survivor of the last level, where you had to rescue your family. I know Starkweather has some dialogue that goes 'You have to understand Cash, I couldn't have let them/him/her live.' depending on how many survived, but again it's been a while since i played
Seth Wellington false hope. I restarted the mission so many times to save them all and was crushed when they died anyways but I always remember the female being killed by baby face ive never seen the male character model
Jessie Slams you are correct I vividly remember the girl being killed as well, I guess it all depends on who was killed.
@@oldmanknowsnothing5005 By last level they meant the level before View of Innocence. Starkweather does kill them all in this scene, but you can save all of them in the previous one and the female family members show up if they are saved.
Most of the times playing, the girl was the one being killed. Actually, it took me a while to find out that it could have the guy being killed in the cutscene.
I loved getting that Smith & Wesson 586 Revolver for the first time. Felt empowering to finally have a gun in the game.

Exploring Hidden Camera Secrets Doom 2016 Game Please
the female on the cube is for an alternate cutscene. When i was playing strapped for cash the male died because i was spotted. However i saved everybody else. the version i saw was with the female tied up and not the male. the cutscene changes based on outcome.

Oh me too, this is the one game I really wish they’d do a reboot of. I’d pay to finance it. Maybe we can start a gofund me or kickstarter. We’d need people who knew what they were doing though, and I guess the rights unless we wanted to change things around a bit

The Surveillance Room in Key Personnel is unlocked by the Cerberus Guards when they move the Cerberus Leader upstairs ("Sir - one of the men is not responding. We have to move you somewhere more secure.") If you let them all go upstairs without distracting them or killing the Cerberus Leader downstairs, that's where they wind up, and that's where you have to go to kill him to get the elevator key. All items inside (ammo and painkillers) are accessible.

To get into the security room in Key Personell you first need to get spotted so the cerberus escorts the head of security to the security room, once they arrive they unlock the door and wait inside for you
11:55 the reason why there is a female is because if you were only able to rescue one family member like one of the females or only rescue 2 of the females and not the males on (Strapped For Cash) then you would possibly getting the ending on (View Of Innocence) where the female gets killed on camera and not the male. It really depends on how many you save.
Regarding the cat pictures and the picture of that guy.
As a side project about a year ago (I've since left it on hold for other projects) I was working on remaking an HD version of Manhunt. In the texture files there's a lot of interesting things to be found.
Namely, all the texturing and materials were done by nearly all one person. And that guy is Campbell-John Dick. That's his photo smoking a cigarette on the nightstand and those are what I can only assume by the file names, his cats. He also worked on many other Rockstar games.

This is the first time I see this game, I heard of it many times before but it was banned from distribution in Germany and showing it "to the public" is illegal here, yes I know, ridiculous.

Suuhls you guys have an unfortunate history that was forced on you and all your good people. I dont agree with that crazy censorship you guys had for awhile but i understand the thought logic behind it. Anyway this game rocks man check it out if you can and find the will too.
@@napalmkitty6686 It wasn't that bad, it was absurd at times because the publishers went overboard and wanted an USK 16 Rating in USK 18 titles and that led to the infamous "I am dead and I will now lie down" in Counter Strike Source but as I said, Valve did that for the Age 16 rating but it got an 18 rating in the end regardless, a few years later they changed it to the international version because it was already an Age 18 release.
Other games had to take out content that rewarded killing humans, and swastikas of course. This ban just got lifted and games that are "worth it" are now regarded as art.
Manhunt was just too violent but this would get an age 16 rating by now, even DOOM that was put on the "red list" 1993 was retested in 2015 (after 25 years the government has to test it again) and it is now age 12 and up

It's not Rockstar being lazy. Manhunt is part of the GTA III/Vice/SanAndreas Trilogy universe.
Naming things in game after developers is a very rockstar thing to do. I remember in gta 3 after crossing over the cochrane dam so many times to see in the credits a guy who worked on it named cochrane.
You’ve probably already heard it before, but in order to get into the Security room on Key Personnel you have to wait until the Cerberus decide to escort their leader into the room, which happens if you take too long to confront him

Great video. Underated game, I remember I got it for Christmas 2003 along with SSX 3 & XIII. Games were so great back then. One of the best horror games ever made imo.
23:01 you need to kill all guards who's near The cerberus leader's room and wait a bit in shadows without doing nothing with the enemies of that room. Only kill the guards ending in second cam, after this you hide in shadows and wait for the cutscene. No error.
I think you're the best guy that does these free camera videos, honestly because you cover way more games, especially these games. Which I would like more of!

There are a lot of rooms that were unknowingly made with the glass bottles in, fuelled by hate is one.
Maybe we could ask Rockstar?
My guess would be that a level designer placed them there, so he had an easy object to copy from, if he wanted to place them in the level. Copying objects that are already in the level is sometimes easier than searching for them in an object list. Afterwards he didn't remember or care enough to remove them.
As I said just a guess, but definitely something I would do when designing levels, even if it probably isn't best practice.
wow really good vid man! I remember grabbing this on release day and being amazed at how gory it was at the time, how times change. But that heartbeating sound is still menacing. Awesome work on finding them easter eggs! Thanks for another great vid Slip!

Great game and video. I've never seen any game match the violence level in Manhunt. Still my favorite game to play to this day. I like using the cheat disc and playing as Piggsy or The Rabbit or monkey and going through the game using each one. Red kills the first time I play then yellow then just the fastest ways and guns
The junkyard level was also going to feature boss fight and going to takes longer. The zoo level also was going to takes longer.

This video was cool. Manhunt was hands down, my favorite game. I wish I still had it and my Xbox. I used to love getting super high, turning off all the lights, and standing face to face with the tv while playing. Truly an incredible experience. I had a lot of people I hated when I was younger, and playing this game absolutely kept me from doing anything stupid about it. A total release, and yet games like this get banned because the thought is that it encourages people to act this way. I swear, our lawmakers are so out of touch. But that’s nothing new.

11:52 The cutscene varies depending on who Cash managed to save in the previous mission (if he saved only one family member and it's a female the cutscene shows a female being killed, if at least one male member was saved it shows a male member being killed)
For _Kill The Rabbit_ I encountered an interesting bug. In the first section, after I had killed everyone and was preparing to move on, the White Rabbit himself just ran out of nowhere, straight at and then *past* me, stopping in the middle of the cell row. He didn't react to sound, sight or smiley corpses. I couldn't shoot or hit him, *but* I could perform a hasty execution on him.
His corpse disappeared instantly, but I still kept the head he dropped. I moved on, and the game crashed as I expected, probably because he was supposed to appear in the next cutscene.
This was awesome, i would love to see Manhunt 2

Some level names have a letter enclosed in brackets. I am now curious on if it spells a specific reference to something. Not all the levels have bracket letters. Very very curious...
