Finally got Ace tanker and High caliber in ARL V39. Promptly sold it. Will never run that vehicle again. Crew is recovering nicely in therapy. Loved S35 CA and Love Jagdpanzer IV. And I did carry a fair amount of gold for higher tier opponents.
The funny thing about all French tanks in the game is that they are either VERY prewar as the design is on this (which explains the armour) or they are post war tanks. The idea with this was to use the same system of aiming as was used for the 75mm in the Char B-1bis (which had 0 gun traverse), liquid hydrolics in the suspension to move the whole tank one degree at a time to aim the gun
It's certainly possible. The gun has enough penetration to go through with a decent penetration roll, but most shots will bounce if angled and they don't hit weakspots.

Despite the fact that the G1 B and the V39 are more mechanically related, it's more correct to say that they were both derived from the B1 rather than one from the other, as the G1 B never really got past the design stage and was itself based heavily on the B1. It is, however, important to remember that ARL did have a part in the initial design of the G1 B, and therefore it would make sense that they would try to base their project off of it. It's a bit complicated, but basically you're right.

wikipedia says the ARL 40 project (of which this is a prototype) used parts from char B's, not ARL 44's. ARL 44 came later (developed starting '44) (also using parts from char B's). its weight in game compared to B1 must be due to its ammo load (actually B1 IRL was about the same weight)
As far as I can see Jagtpanzer IV haters seem to get angry when they try to shoot at targets that they know their gun cant damage. 133mm of penetration is perfectly fine at Tier VI and 200 damage at Tier VI is really good for a gun with a reload time of under 6 seconds.
+SniperRNC Funny how I managed just fine with 133mm without firing a shot of AP. The fact that the pen is just 133 though shows wargamings bias against the germans since the KwK 36s actual armor penetration was 150mm at 250 meters and 133 at One kilometer.
I dunno why people hate the ARL V39 so much, I think it's pretty nice. The machine gun turret isn't an issue very often with the way I play my ARL, and its 105mm is quite nice. Good damage, aim time, mobility, camo, very nice all-round for the most part.

The AMX 40 is great. I had a 75% crew and loved it. While it does have a very underpowered engine, that seems to be it's only real downside, because the armor is amazing, the gun is good, and the weak spots are somewhat hard to hit. I went into the AMX 40 expecting the worst tank in the world, and came out loving it. And then of course if you find youself at the top of a hill, you can prepare yourself for 50kph. With a push, the speed problem is gone. All in all, it can be a great tank.
dont worry, all the other TD after it are OP. The tier 7 has the same guns as the tier 6, but believe me, it works a hell of a lot better. That is cause the tier 7 has pretty good armor and can turn the turret a lot more which fixes abasically almost all the problems of the arl v39. Then the tier 8,9,10 are all autoloading TD making them the best high tier TD in the game
I cannot believe you said that signal range doesn't matter! Having a low signal range means that you will be unable to shoot at targets at long distances (which is what TDs are supposed to do) and will also have less targets to shoot at
If you're just starting the ARL grind (I personally love it lol) equip the enhanced suspension equipment so that the load capacity's increased and you can equip a better gun from the off
The French tier 7 TD, though, is epic! That Mle.1946 even with the DCA45 90mm gun is a great machine. It plays like the T25/2. With the 100mm SA47 gun it's like a Jagdpanther. The only problem is you have to grind through this piece of crap first. I couldn't take any more, skipped the last 30k with free xp.
The D.Max always seemed like an OP version of the Marder(mainly cause it has it as its base) for me. I'm grinding through this tank on the Xbox One and I can't wait to sell it. It's such a blemish in my tank collection. I finally got the 105 so it's not as bad as it was, but it's still terrible.
I just bought this abomination. Very(!) surprisingly, I've won my first 4 out of 5 matches, AND I've been one of the top 3 players in all five game! I play it as a long range sniper, and that seems to work well. I should mention though that I have died in all games after being spotted around mid game. =P
'Hate' is too kind a word..... the only way this thing has a chance is to find the farthest away place you can (hiding is secondary) and use telescope to pop things.

Just picked the v39 up at the weekend and took your advice to use free xp to unlock the tracks and engine so I could stick the 105 gun on straight away. First game, seven kills! I thought you said this thing was rubbish Jingles? :p Had 5 kills in fourth game as well, though in that one the lack of gun traverse and aiming time did give me a few issues. So far though? If i may MightyJingles, I think most T6 TDs are well average or below, ARL39 is one, JagdPanzerIV another. Havent gotten to the SU100 yet, im guessing that one is an exception. That and the Hellcat, but this one has great mobility and a turret so its cheating XD. Out of all the T6 TDs which is the best overall in your opinion: firepower, mobility, armor?
I realy don't know why but I actualy have fallen in love with this tank im use to French tanks low armor so I play the sniper locations iv figured out its mm is not bad an even if it des get tier 8 matches all you have to do is know where to hit and and let random number generators do the rest

The ARL V39 isn't based on the chassis of the ARL 44, Just because They are both ARL doesn't mean they have the same chassis. ARL was the short form of the conpany who made them both. To me it looks more like its based on the BDR G1B, But at the same time its shape is a bit different. If you get the ARL 44 and compare them both. They are about 100% Different. Thats why it doesn't have that armor. Another problem about the ARL V39. Its Engine is very vaunrable and gets knocked out easily.
I've already decided I'm going to skip trough the Sau-40 and the S-35CA, now also the ARL V39. Please say the Air Conditioner Mle. 46 is any good so I won't have to make the list longer...
i know why they made the french TD line have lots of beggining bad tanks. I mean, think about it, we dont want a thousand noobs playing the best tier 10 TD in the game. The tier 2, 3(kinda), 4, and 6 are just to make sure no noobs get their hands on that awesome tier 10 autoloading TD
after getting the tracks,its not that bad honestly. I unlocked both 105 and 90 so the grind was negligible. idk maybe they buffed it but the aim time on 105 isn't bad,and the accuracy is meh.not horrible but not good.165 pen isn't bad at tier 6and the top guns pen is 212,which trumps all other tier 6 tds top guns.

Yes, it's an absolutely horrible grind but once you get to tier 7 the French TDs start getting good. And I mean really good.

It hits top speed quite well. The thing that can wreck it for many is the useless stock suspension which forces you to use a tier 3 gun.

you might know this already, but the new soviet tier 8 TD is the SU-122-44, based off of the T-44.

Same 300 damage and 165 Penn that can penne pretty much all tanks up to tier 8 and can take out half a tanks health and I don't mind the 9 sec reload

you know... you can stil use the gun from the Stug III G on the Jg panzer IV witch can penetrate tier 6 tanks and almost all tier 7 tanks with gold

The T34 is an tier 7 or 8 Heavy US tank i think, or a premium tier 7 or 8 Heavy. The famous Russian T-34 medium is a tier 5
I wasn't saying that it's better because it's a light tank, I'm explaining the reason why it would get a tier 3 gun.

ARL V39s DCA45 got buffed aim time to 2,6 s(-0,3s) and CGCs 32 pounder aim time got buffed to 2,1 s(-0.8s).

I find that the IS3 gets ammo racked far too easily, and it is necessary to use a wet ammo rack on the tank.

Yeap the dca 30 on the arl44 has bad aim time and accuracy. Bearable at tiver 5 but outstayed its welcome at tier 6.

The tumor turret is pretty much irrelevant since you can penetrate this thing with literally anything.
