CANNOT clean without music. I love my Spotify music list. Such great ideas, Taryn. I’m an old lady- 77, and I’m a widow, for 8 years. After my husband died, I lived alone, and when I cleaned, of course it would stay for a while, but now I have my son, who has type 1 diabetes, and some memory issues, and a black cat( who we love), but I’m forever cleaning. By the time I do all the rooms, it’s time to start doing them over. I’m tired, and I can only do 1 room per day now. I’m loving your videos, and agree with all your great ideas. Thank you!🤗
The same here. I’m 55, have type 1 diabetes for past 44 years and multiple health problems. I can’t clean without music either. I listen to my Spotify playlist too, and it keeps me focused on both the music and the housecleaning!! Taryn, this is the first video of yours that I’ve watched, and it has inspired me!! Thank you from your newest subscriber!!
As a 74 yr old, the notion to do part of the job and finish later is becoming a reality. A fact of life is doing a job, rest and then do another job is a fact of life. Also keeping a sense of humour of aging!
lol..I’m there, too. Husband not retired,at 73 ,😅😅I’m 74,we are raising our 17 yr old grandson.. my shoulders are shot ,it’s painful to put anything away that requires lifting. I work 20 minutes, and rest thirty!
One of my New Year resulution was developing tiny habit - when I put the kettle on, I clean my kitchen while waiting for water to boil. Super short time but made massive difference, and it is a habit now
During boiling a cup of water in microwave (3 minutes) and steeping teabag (3 minutes) I can put away clean dishes and pans from dishwasher and countertop dish basket. If a little time left, I polish glass cooktop and clean countertop with a disinfectant wipe. Reward with the tea!
That robot vacuum--totally agree! My husband wanted it. We replaced our carpet with hard flooring. (Great move. It helps cut down all the 'stuff' that lingers in the carpet fibers. Our home is less dusty, feels much cleaner!) Anyway, I hated to spend the money for the robot. I thought that I'll just get out the broom, do quick sweeps. Get the robot!! ❤
Taryn your tips are spot on! I'm 72 and I ve been doing many of your suggestions before I found your video . But you have given me more useful tips. I so appreciate your videos. I know they are very helpful to everyone who follow them. And they are easy! You explain things so well.i m telling my friends to watch you! You are the best! Thank you!!

I love Taryn and her super help, I use a timer for a half hour , then it is time to take care of grandchildren and clean again lol. Taryn makes me feel good I love watching her videos thank you Taryn
😂 Aunt Taryn As a perfectionist, it was difficult when age and thyroid issues got in the way of cleaning large areas or for any length of time. A lot of people promote having a solid evening routine but I've learned that I can't trust my energy in the evening. I do whatever dishes and cleanup in the kitchen that I can but don't put any pressure on myself if my back hurts or I just feel like I can't push through. I've developed a really good habit of resetting the kitchen right after eating breakfast so I can rest assured that it will get done at least once a day.
@@jennifersetser9091 I dont know with the pet hair on carpet, we dont have any. But on laminate it works just fine. And we had a persian half-breed, long hair, lots of hair, anywhere and always.

Hi Taryn, I also have found out throughout the years, that the surfaces where I never see the dust or fingerprints (but obviously is there😅) are surfaces which look like wood (real or not it does not matter) And I also began now to dry my face with one or two paper towels, and with exactly those wet towels I afterwards clean / dry my sink and the surface around the sink. The sink looks like new an I have less towels to wash. I have many rooms so everyday is dedicated to a certain day of the week. So there is a routine and no overwhelming on just one special day. (Sunday the bedroom, Monday the bathrooms, Tuesday work room, Wednesday Dressing room, Thursday kitchen, Friday the hallway , Saturday the living. That helped me a lot.
I am so glad i found your channel. Taking into practice some of your tips. I am not married, don't have kids , but work full time and living with my retired parents. I am always tired , can barely cook dinner somedays. Thanks for your videos. Subscribed.

I would love to see a video of what new things you have brought into the home and what has left ( a monthly video) A day in the life (what you do, meals you eat etc.) just a couple ideas💡 I know I like seeing these. I enjoy your videos 🌼
I'd like to add one more tip -> Look at what you have to do at the beginning of the week and also review at night before going to bed. So often you've forgotten appointments and other commitments. Resulting in your tearing the house apart trying to complete tasks at the last minute, and leaving other things undone. Ending up with clutter, lost items, repeat purchases and unnecessary spending.
My three favorite tiny chunks of time when I get an amazing amount of work done are: waiting for the coffee to brew, waiting for the washing machine to finish, and waiting for the dog to pee. Each are maybe three to five minutes. I can wash dishes, change over the laundry, check expiration dates in the pantry, tidy the fridge, plan meals, refill hand soaps, water the plants, sweep the porch. All those little chunks of time add up to a clean and tidy house. Or I can stand there staring into space pondering my life choices. Yeah, some days that's all I can manage. 😂😂😂
Each morning I hang a large reusable shopping bag on the banister. As I go through the day I put items in that need to go throughout the house. It saves from running up and down the stairs a dozen x a day.
@@PoofyPuff1 And that’s the problem. Lol. Don’t you wish we could wiggle our noses like that show “Bewiched”, (I think it was) and have our houses cleaned?

I love his smiley face. Upstairs I’ve got a Panasonic upright hoover. Just curious, how much do people in the US charge per hour for a cleaner? (Or rather vica versa really). In the UK I think it’s about £10.00 an hour, or more.
I'm not sure if we have Henry hoovers in the U.S. either but I know exactly the one you're talking about! In the U.S., cleaners can vary so much - I've seen them all of the place and we even have websites like Task Rabbit where you can hire a person directly (no company involved)!
The only thing I can suggest is to try and keep your bathroom as dry as possible. Some suggest letting the fan run after a shower for about 15 minutes. I know that mold requires a specific environment to grow and cutting moisture is key!
