What makes Dallas go is Luka is always double teamed. Go run through a lot of plays. There is always two people heading towards him. That leaves someone open and with the shooters they upgraded to this year, Dallas is going to make a ton of threes. It isn't even when the guards have the ball. Go watch the backdoor that Gafford threw. That was all set up due to two people going after Luka.
Joker had a triple double. Denver is a bit thin talentwise as a whole. It is game one. It doesn't mean much either way, but don't kid yourselves. Joker was not dominated.
Ever since Joker insulted Chets physical stature after his 1st loss of his career, it's been bad news for the Nuggets. Chet has won the last 4games vs Nuggets. Chet career 3-0 in Denver & has outplayed Jokic each time

I saw mpj struggle I saw jokic get burned bad anytime Chet got a head of steam in the half court n esp transition. Watson braun n Westbrook were the only guys I saw rly guarding tn
Jokic had 16 points relatively inefficiently tho! N I think the decision to double was more abt Denver’s lack of shooting than it is abt Chet v Jokic 1v1. There are guys that guard Jokic better than Chet but not many! Chet’s length bothers Jokic. Jokic can still throw him around but even then Chet is recovering to make it tough n even block his shot in one instance. Chet is in his 2nd yr it is to be expected that he can’t totally smother an all-time great w 150 pounds on him lol. But he’s prob still a 75th percentile Jokic defender. Chet blocked his shot twice tn in 1v1 isolation. Rudy isn’t even doing that
Jokic glazing out of hand…you showed a play where Jokic made a good pass which collapsed the defense n made Chet help off Jokic which gave Jokic a clean, advantaged close out opportunity when the ball got swung to him. He drove it for a lay up - and the conclusion was Jokics gravity is insane?? He just drove a close out on that one. Nothing to do w his gravity (I think quite literally you said it had “everything to do w Jokics gravity”) - I don’t see it
I’ve been waving the flag on all Denver n jokics flaws for yrs n they’re only now getting acknowledged bc Denver isn’t winning except ppl love jok so much they’re blaming every1 but him. Denver has always had too many entry points defensively w little rim protection. Denver has typically lacked 3pt shooting starting poor 3point shooters in the front court (jokic got hot from 3 one yr which helped to overcome that but even then he’s not a volume guy). Jokic isn’t a shooter. Jokic doesn’t pressure the rim like other superstars (he a floater guy). Jokic doesn’t protect the rim. He can’t guard in space. He doesn’t run the floor well in transition offensively or defensively. He attacks v slowly in iso situations which gives the defense a better chance to decide how they want to guard him instead of having to react bc jokic blew by his man off the dribble in a direction that they couldn’t predict prior. Jokic typically doesn’t lose his defender jus bodies him in the basket which makes helping easier than the alternative Assuming health I have Jokic as the 3rd best player. But based on availability n the fact embiid isn’t in shape when he is healthy I have him tied at #1 w Giannis rn. N I think sga tatum n Luka have a shot to pass him up shortly

In the past Jokics +/- numbers are typically inflated by terrible back up center n mike Malone hockey shifts n then nerds ran w it n gave him 3 mvps. Now he’s forced to play w bench more n saric was pretty good n all of a sudden +/- would tell you he was the worst starter last night Jaylen brown is another guy who’s on off stuff doesn’t look great bc of the way Boston staggers his minutes w Tatum. Relative to Tatum jbs on off isn’t great but relative to the rest of the league he’s awesome. That’s why these all in one metics rly don’t tell the whole story. I hope we de emphasize these kinda stats in mvp n all-nba discussions a little
