Atkinson isnt going to harm the Cavs defense much, if at all.
Smart money sayd the Cavs are closer to 60 than 50.
Did Harper grow a lot in the past 10 months? Because from seeing both him and Edgecombe at City of Palms last year, I think both of them are 6-4 (in shoes) or less.
Adams the screening machine and offensive rebounding beast efficient unselfish team mate.
SGA almost did the trivia twice, barely missed last year by .1 blocks. Missed it last year by .5 assists.
Nolan traore's improved jumper and explosive first step with playmaking man is just so special
Rutgers fans must be happy
No real risk in this top 5. Nolan Traoré is an exceptional Point guard and could be draft higher. Reality will probably be a bit different.
Yeah this class could be historic imo
As a spurs fan I am destined to lose my mind about people questioning the spurs trading Dilly…..even though they traded the pick to MN, not particularly Dillingham. “They traded him for nothing!” They traded an eight pick in a weak draft for an unprotected first rounder and an almost unprotected swap coming due when the Spurs should be competing and will need cheap contracts or trade assets. I will be an old man by the time I’m proven right.
You are already right, some people just don't know what they're talking about.
Glad to hear someone else is as high on Alex Toohey! Great stuff as always
I think Nolan is the only one that can take it from Cooper. He’s a beast!!! Maybe Ace too.
There is no competition for the #1 spot. None.
As a Clippers fan it's painful knowing how good the top of this draft seems to be.
Fortunately if Clippers better than Rockets this year, they can keep their own picks. Maybe a late lottery is still coming
@@蔡嘉勳-d2m Not very confident in that tbh, Houston has a much better roster rn.
I don’t think Ace should be two when you guys had to give 5 minutes of caveats for putting him at that spot. A lot of overhauling needs to be done to his shot diet for him to be compared to guys like Harper, and Traore.
Fervently seconded: I came away from watching him thinking some of the same caveats discussed here (can't get by people, settles for tough jumpers off the bounce as a result, never ever passes, indifferent defender).
I love to see Bryce swinging for upside, will love to see how things play out. I think Collin Murray-Boyles ends up as a top 10 pick.
Lachlan Olbrich should clearly be a first rounder. He’s shooting 64% from the field right now. Which is absurd. His inside finishing is amazing. Good athlete and good size who defends very well.
64% isn’t that absurd if he’s a big or gets everything within 10 feet. That being said I know nothing about Olbrich as I type this.
@@skimmy93 Average NBA 2 point percentage is like 54%. Lachlan is shooting 70% on 2 pointers. Average at rim scoring in NBA is like 59%. So Lachlan is ridiculously efficient at scoring in the paint especially since most of those are shots he created. He’s not just catching easy lobs. So yeah you’re just wrong 👍
@@Gurusson-qr5npthis doesn’t make you wrong but using nba wide numbers that include guards is just stupid if you’re trying to prove that he’s exceptional at this
@@collinpitts7326 He plays like a guard. He gets to the rim. It's not like he's catching lobs. He's shooting 70% on 2 point shots. For comparison, Lebron games shot around 67% around the rim last year (5 feet or less). Lachlan is an exceptional finisher around the basket. Nic Claxton and Jarrett Allen who is a center are also 67% around the rim. Lachlan is shooting all his 2 pointers on better efficiency than those guys are at 5 feet or less.
Rocco’s defense has been a bit underwhelming. He gets scored on inside way more than he should since he’s 7,3. Often by people much smaller than him. Still a first rounder but yeah. With that being said every prospect has flaws and Traore is quite literally shooting sub 40% from the field right now in a worse league. And I believe Rocco's issue are just due to lack of experience.
as a Rutgers fan I'm very excited this season
Keondre finally getting his flowers😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
This guy sounds a lot like Anthony jeselnick😂
Keegan is turning himself into a elite Starter in this league. If he can develop his iso scoring/ ball handling then we are talking about All Star potential. Sadly I don’t see it but you never know. Just glad he’s a solid contributor to my kings.
Great vid. I’m glad Sam could be honest about ants processing and decision making. It’s surely lacking, 52:50 Jason had a bit of rose colored lenses because Ants problem in the playoffs/olympics was missing passing windows due to taking too long.
first time watching a podcast with you sam good work as always
Get ready for a big offensive leap this year - most of it from the peremiter.
Funny how different the media looks at KAT now that he’s out of Minnesota.
Well done guys. Great collab. Best analysis of the trade I’ve seen.
As some1 who is a member of the community in comments under hoops tn, ant was by far the biggest gripe ppl had w his list.
Kat pick and pop wont do a thing to Boston. Boston will crossmatch the hell out of them with Jrue on Kat, Tatum on Kat etc. KP can go guard OG or Mikal lol.
U do realize that KAT has a post game right? He will cook Jrue or Tatum down the block when they switch.
KAT post ups are not gonna do it in a math battle against Boston, losing 12 3pa per game from Donte is a significant loss. Brunson and KAT will be hunted on every possession on the other side as well.
@@braxteneilert6012 not that significant considering they are getting those attempts back between KAT and Mikal. Defensively yes Celts are great but they are going up against an elite offense. In my opinion the Knicks starting 5 seamlessly fit together and are better offensively (yes even Josh Hart at SG) than Celtics though but not by a lot. Defensively Celtics have the advantage because of the switching. The game or series will be decided thru execution, coaching and more importantly health.
@@jomscath1822 that offense has barely any ball handling. Brunson is gonna have to pound the air out of the basketball in that system. Simply not sustainable if he is also hunted on the other side of the ball.
@@braxteneilert6012the same Jalen Brunson who was top 5 in MVP last season with no second option in the playoffs and one game away to the eastern conference finals and now has KAT and Mikal? Defensively he is not Jrue but he is above average and second in charges drawn per game.
Jason is good content bc he’s obviously biased. He has his favorites. His ant fandom colored his analysis on the kat trade and the ant jt convo a lot. So he’s not the most accurate analyst but he def stokes nba conversations n narratives
His wemby fandom colored his analysis of rockets v spurs. Not just on this show but also on his own channel where he ranked the spurs in the top 20 teams n not the rockets. No 1 rly thinks the spurs will be better than the rockets except superfans
Another example: Sam asked him a question abt maxey being the key to the sixers yet doesn’t give a pro maxey take. Doesn’t continue the concept by pointing out other guys to monitor that might be linchpins as far as how this szn plays out. Instead gives an anti Joel n anti sixers take which is baiting defensive comments Great for inspiring passion around the game. But boiling everything down to the result of that first round series is not insightful
I’m excited for him to use more film. I think it will hold him to a higher standard of analysis. Rly loved the szn preview on the grizzlies. Good film wrk there. The other team previews weren’t that thorough but hopefully he continues to grow w the film stuff
Yall understand the significance of a snake draft v a reg draft?
Giannis underrated. The health thing is real. Outside of that no1 but jokic is close
Yall got tatum effed up! He’s not the most elite capitalizing on an advantage but he’s elite creating one He’s GREAT at creating advantages! His size alone creates an instant advantage in the post v positions 1-3. N then there aren’t 3 guys more skilled than Tatum at his size or taller. So when matched up v 4s n 5s he has an advantage there too. All he has to do is back a little guy down or get a step on a big to create an advantage n he does that at will. If anything (relative to the best scorers) he struggles to score v the 2nd help defender n he’s not the greatest shot maker in the world so finishing is a bigger issue for Tatum although, relative to the rest of league he’s obviously elite there too
As a Celtics and Tatum fan, the Ant Tatum debate was phenomenal and I appreciate both viewpoints. Really good stuff
So cool to see the two of you together. I host an NBA podcast (in Brazil) and just the other day I was telling the audience the two NBA analysts I enjoyed the most were you two (I admit I forgot about ben from thinking basketball, he is also top tier). Thanks for the great content and analysis the both of you put out the whole year through. I was genuinely happy to know that you talk with each other about bbal and admire each's work. I'm here for more colabs between hoops tonight and game theory
100% the Lakers are a play-in team again, no way do we finish inside the top 6. Genie is pandering to LeBron so we can have an alleyoop moment with Brony or whatever and it's a nightmare. Heaps of really average players that do nothing, and are poor shooters. AD could have historic numbers/performances but either doesn't really want to, or LeBron's presence is holding him back. So sick of this faeces the last few years, complete fn shambles
JT is one of my fav analysts! Good show.
It’s funny how randles value increased after leaving the Knicks😂😂😂
Facts he was the worst star in history to everybody when he was on the Knicks 😂😂.
@@allsuave2689he didn’t have a great record with us in the post season but most of us wanted to see how he’d lineup with this new look team we built before the towns trade came along..none of us didn’t want Divencenzo to go either but Randle for sure will be missed
The one thing you CANT say about JT’s rankings is that they weren’t well thought out. You may hate the placements, but it’s tough to hate the logic behind each
i think the ant logic is inconsistent. he isnt projecting yrs forward w any1 else not even wemby. every1 else is being judged over a large sample, but jason is evaluating ant based on the small 23-24 playoff sample
@@taylor7264 I guess that’s pretty fair
And he also said he is assuming Ant’s hot jumpshooting in the postseason is gonna be the new normal for him, which is a huge leap considering the 2 teams he faced in the playoffs aren’t built to guard him at all (Suns and Nuggets). Ant struggles more against teams with decent rim protection like Dallas, and he struggles with double teams, something Jason way too easily glosses over. Tatum doesn’t have these issues at all
@@PaM07675 Ant has shot 37% from three over his last 183 games on high volume. Seems fair to assume he’ll be a good overall volume jumpshooter, especially if he got to go to a team with more space, which would then also help him against teams with better rim protection. I don’t find that logic to be very flawed, even if you disagree with the end result
@@Colinkrauss1 I’ll try to be fair because Im not trying to say Ant’s not a good shooter, I think its obvious he is a very good shooter, so Ill just make these two counterpoints for now: 1) Timpf wasnt trying to make the argument that Ant is a 37% three-point shooter from now on. He was specifically looking at his shooting splits from this past ‘24 playoffs and saying he believes that Ant will keep THOSE numbers up… 46% from midrange, 48% from deep midrange, and 40% from 3… essentially saying he expects him to be a near 50/40/80 guy from here on out because of what he did in the ‘24 playoffs, specifically in the first 8-10 games where his numbers were even hotter. Im saying to take those 8-10 games and say he can maintain that type of shooting for most of the rest of his career is a flawed argument, because when you take into account the Suns and Nuggets are the two worst rim-protection teams in the Western playoffs, and their best primary defenders for Ant was Bradley Beal and KCP, then you realize those two teams are the perfect matchups for Ant, and to expect him to keep up THAT level of shooting from now on against everyone else like Dallas was and is crazy. His two other playoff runs were also crazy hot, but again those two postseasons combined totals only like 11 games, and one of those series was also against Denver. 2) I got no issues if you want to say you think Ant is a 37% three point shooter from now on, thats fine. But that alone doesnt make him better than Tatum, nor does it make him a better jumpshooter than Tatum. Tatum’s career 3P% is 37.5%. So if Ant is hitting a new peak as a jumpshooter of about 37% from now on, that means he’s finally getting to the level as a shooter that Tatum is already at by default, which is his average of 37.5% from deep. And he has had multiple seasons shooting over 40% himself. Everyone likes to to take shots at Tatum now because he’s been on a crazy slump with his shooting, but they all go too far with discounting it in my opinion. All I’m saying is I think some people like Timpf go a little too far with their glazing for what they think Ant will be, that they get excited and rank him higher than what he is actually currently at right now at the moment. Timpf even has said multiple times now that a lot of whats factored in for him about ranking Ant this high was his projections for him and that he thinks will get better. But he didnt do that for other guys like Wemby or others. He only did it for Ant to give him a boost, without considering that someone like Tatum can also still get a lot better because he is still a couple years away from hitting his prime also. The age gap between Ant and Tatum is not wide enough to say that Ant will jump Tatum by pure potential and skill increase. But the age gap (and “playoff age”) is wide enough to give Tatum an experience-edge that is considerable. For example, Ant struggles with double teams and being decisive in such pressure situations… Tatum did also like 3-4 years ago, but not anymore. He’s grown past that, Ant still needs a couple years more experience to do the same.
Been following Jason’s work for years now, so glad I stumbled upon this Sam! You have a new subscriber!
Ya'll two of the best NBA analysts out here, keep up the good work 👌🏽
@Sam Are you going to be doing any breakdowns of prospects with Bryce? The back and forth when you guys discuss film is great.
I love when people underrate my favorite players bout to prove yall wrong
Selecting Draymond to be Rudy's back-up is going to be wonderful for team chemistry
I understand the analysis but I trust the moves that Leon Rose made. He has built a great team and he has added the components. Leon Rose will continue making adjustments. We have to wait and see
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Everybody talkin about the Knicks but the Wolves are devastating. Just Edwards, JMac and Randle playing 25 minutes together could overwhelm offenses. Both Randle and Edwards create and shoot open threes. Randle has a lower percentage than Towns but he is not afraid to shoot it and that is what's most important. If those three mesh on Offense along with their now best bench in the League. The Wolves are much better with Randle. Oddly enough, Towns' low post defense will be the costliest thing missed.
Watching through this and will edit to rank later, but I was playing along drafting from Pick #2. Three picks in, I took Kawhi, Jimmy, and Harden and realized I basically built the 2023 Clippers (with Jimmy instead of PG) and would get bodied by all of y'alls teams lol. Edit: The utter joy of Bryce nixing Sam's KCP pick was hilarious! I was screaming about TJ McConnell late in the draft. Glad both of y'all were thinking about him, too. I have it as Sam, Bryce, Andrew, but it's really close. I actually am curious about how Andrew's team would actually perform. My issue is Steph and Dame on defense, especially going up against Sam's team. One of them would get targeted by Jimmy or PG.
If McDaniels doesn’t improve his shot this year DDV can come in and start then
my favorite player this season. lgk he is the x factor for the 2nd team
Andrew’s team would get destroyed my god 😭
Sam, Bruce, Andrew
Did you guys forget that Bridges is REPLACING Donte in the starting 5? That completely changes everything. Donte was going to get limited minutes.
