Keldon Johnson is not bad anymore on defense. You haven't been watching the Spurs, since last year its been a focus and he lost a ton of weight this summer to get more agile and he is playing solid defense. Is he Castle/Sochan level? No, but the entire Spurs team is playing better defense its not just Victor. They all improved in how they play defense and how consistent it is across 48 minutes, which is a huge shift for them if you were watching the past couple of years

Castle already has practically all the fundamentals of basketball. He just needs to improve his shooting. That's where he needs to make progress, and quickly, he'll become a hell of a player, able to string wins together. This will enable him to keep his team in touch with the best when they're trailing. He needs to spend 90-95% of his time practicing his shooting. Many things will become possible for the Spurs with a little luck, because winning the NBA title remains complicated.

The trade didn’t make the Knicks worst defensively, losing Hark to free agency was a gut punch. Then Mitch hasn’t played yet this season, and Precious hurt himself in preseason. That’s a lot of rebounds and defense to lose!!!! Then, even though Dante isn’t fitting with Wolves, last year he was as good or better defender than Hart. A solid two way starting guard. Bridges isn’t playing elite D, he’s actually not playing GOOD defense. So it all adds up. Deuce has been in and out of lineup with injuries and he’s legit defensive player as well. We really need to not only focus on polishing up our switching, energy, etc, but get a trade for defensive stopper somewhere. Who to trade though??? Let’s wait and see what happens when Mitch and Precious come back. It’ll take time for them to acclimate as well. This is gonna take a while…

Tre Jones is just back from injury so he and Barnes have played maybe 5 games together. Barnes won WC Player of the Week. He's been a great trade for basically nothing. And CP3 is a player-coach on the court. I hope both stick around after the trade deadline. Depending on records, Spurs could have 2-3 lottery picks in the next draft. Dynasty in the making. The core they will build around is VW-Sochan-Vassell-Castle + two 2025 lottery picks. GM screwed up not taking Dalton Knecht with the #8 pick in 2024 draft.

I find it strange there's constant chatter about going all in on somebody THIS season - because frankly, who available is worth going all in on??? The non-playoff teams don't typically have that guy - especially this season. Markkenen's ineligible. Zion, Ingram & LaVine make no sense (injuries/contracts). Does anybody account for a smaller but just as important move (Sexton/Simons)? Adding a more efficient guard in case Jalen doesn't figure it out makes the most sense. At most they'd give up one 1st rd pick - leaving them options for the big fish down the road. Saying the Rockets have little to no chance to beat anybody outside OKC in a playoff series is a stretch. The Lakers are terrible defensively. Memphis & GSW are Steph & Ja reliant (injury prone) & Amen's an elite defender who can shadow them. The theory the Rockets can't do this because this is who they are - is flawed. No reason why Amen, Sengun, Jabari, Tari & especially Jalen won't get better. Of the current playoff teams, the Rockets beat the Mavs & Knicks from start to finish. They crushed the Clips twice. Outside of OKC on the road & GSW, they've proven themselves. Maybe the Rockets offense can't get better but it also can't get worse. They've gotta roster full of players who's shooting numbers are below their career avg (FVV, Sengun, Jalen, Jabari)

Why is anyone suprised that bridges is this bad? Did yall even watch him on the nets? He hasn’t been a good defender since the 2022. He started declining on the suns and was bad on defense on the nets as well. And it’s not like he was the first option. The guy averaged 14ppg on 40% from the field his last 40 games of the season for the nets last yr. On the towns end he’s been a bad defender his entire career once again why is anyone shocked. Scottie is a point guard. Says so on himself. The reason everyone calls him a center or a wing is because on any given night, on any given team, near as makes no difference, Scottie is your best 1, 2(arguable), 3, 4 and 5.

As a coach it’s your job to patch the holes and cover our blemishes. Mikal indeed could be better, that being said Thibs could easily implement a zone structured man switch all defense. Which would make his signature drop coverage defense more practical. Mikal is a capable top 2-way wing in this league. You don’t just completely fall off a cliff as a player in mere months removed from being a Net. #Knickstape

The Rockets offense is so clunky, and they shoot so poorly. I love my team, but our young guys are so inconsistent that we can't afford fvv to be too, but he has been.

It's always the same question with this team, what are you getting out of Jalen Green? If he's going to suddenly put it all together this season, I think the Rockets can hang with anybody, because when he's on he looks like a legit star perimeter scorer and you've already got Sengun who will presumably get back to finishing better around the rim. But Green is only on like that 25% of the time at best, and when he's off, he's usually *really* off, like wasting possession after possession on offense and not really being a plus defender despite his improvements on that end. Or, if you're going to replace him with another guard at the trade deadline, who is that likely to be? And that's a question which is really tough to answer a quarter of the way into the season.

Yeah Jabari is an absolute weapon when he's confident and his rim protection and help defense goes up another notch when his shot is falling. The Rockets NEED to make sure they get him going offensively ASAP in each game, so they can unlock his top defensive gear. Then he can slide over to backup 5, thanks to bulking up in the offseason, while Tari and Amen handle the wing and help defense.

A series? As in one series? Of course they can. The west is deep so even if they grab a top half seed they could still match up with a good team early but defense will play anywhere against any team and the Rockets play defense just as good as any team in the league. And being one of the youngest teams in the NBA they're only gonna get better throughout the season

They’re going to be a tough team to face in the playoffs. Not saying they’ll come out of the west, but I can as far as the Western Conference semifinals if they go right. Hard to see them getting by OKC, Dallas, and maybe Golden State.

There’s a solid arguement that JG is the worst starter rather than Bari. The volume of bad shots hurts us more than Bari’s lack of confidence. I’m 100% sure that JG will be moved elsewhere, the most interesting thing will be when, where, and how that will happen.

The Knicks would be a much worse defensive team this year if they had Randle at center. They lost Hartenstein and Mitch from last year's team; that's why the defense is bad this year. Towns is a better defensive player then Randle; go watch a Wolves game to see that

The Rockets are winning by exerting more effort right now. I'm not sure they have the stamina by the end of the season to win the same way. They can somewhat mitigate it by playing a deeper rotation, but they can't afford to lose Sengun to fatigue or injury.

Wemby is the easy answer, especially if the Spurs actually end up a .500 team.
