You are right on with this video, brother. The YZ 250X, which I owned, is best in open, flowing stuff. It is not a natural in hard enduro. It's more than the kickstarter, which isn't that big of a deal because the bike starts very easily. The clutch, the way the 250X balances, and power delivery hold it back in the first-gear, billy goat stuff. A Beta is better in technical places. The X is great when riding trails like you do.
I agree 100%. I love my 250x but I just can’t keep up when riding extreme stuff with my friends on their KTM 300’s. It’s just not built for that kind of riding. But when we get to fast flowing riding my YZ shines! It’s a blast to ride.
A great way to smooth out your course would be to drag a piece of chain link fence behind your quad with a little bit of weight attatched to it. Looks like fun thanks for making the video. My next bike will be the YZ 250X.
i'm in canda and looking for a woods bike, my 450 XC bike (CRF450RX) is not that. eyed the 250X as i owned a YZ250 moto and the ''gold'' standard KTM 300XCW. the W is almost $3000 more but it is fuel injected, e start, headlgiht, and gauge with a few other small things if you overlook the extra cc. $13k is a lot to fork out for a dirt bike, if i had a place to ride like in the video i'd keep the 450RX but i want to get into tight tech trails as theres soo much more of that riding in my lcoation.
The YZ is not the bike for technical trails. The front of the bike is set up for fast speed riding from factory, The triple clam need a replacement with 22mm offset triple clamp and change the carb to a smart carb. That's 2K right there. You can get a GPX TSE300R dirt bike which is a chines copy of a KTM works good and has electric start and cost $6000 or a Sherco, Rieju 300 this are also a good bikes and cost less than KTM
@roberturmosi-dirtbike-atv I live in a remote area in Canada. I have available a YZ250X at $9500 or 300XCW at $13600. A YZ with 22mm triple clamps are still cheaper. I would bet the YZ is more reliable. Also note I currently ride a Honda 450RX which isn't a woods and why I'm looking to change. (I'm a Honda fan) my honda hasn't even given me a glitch, zero issues and perfect running for 3 years, another Honda is 12 years old and not even a small issue.
Suspension not to soft and 3rd gear not to short? Looking into the x but not sure if the regular yz would be better. I ride sand trails like this that get pretty whooped out and are mostly 3rd gear trails. Any info would help thanks
@@brandonlight7682 The suspension is definitely not soft I put mine a bit on the soft side to save my shoulder goes through bumps. The way the engine is it’s probably the best analogue two stroke engine. The gears are perfect with a gytr flywheel. I recommend you to do some of the mods I did on mine so the bike can really shine
The heavier flywheel makes 3rd gear longer? Or just makes the bike take longer to get up and go also keeps rpms high to help with stalling? What are the benefits of running a aftermarket flywheel? I don't ride single track to often
@@brandonlight7682 With the flywheel you have more torque the bike not die as easy at low rpm. Developed by Yamaha an I think its change the ignition slightly for good because the bike rev just as good
For me the cost difference would definitely favor the YZ250X. I am not a big fan of the overpriced KTM’s. I have a YZ 250 that was some minor modifications that cost less than $500 have given me an amazing wood bike.
i’ve had a couple yamahas including yz125, yz250x and a yx450fx. my personal opinion if you have the money i would get the husqvarna tx300 over a ktm300xc but thats my preference due to how the cockpit feels and doesn’t look as bulky and fat. If you don’t have the money to afford a husky or ktm a yz250x would be plenty fun
Yz hands down. Ktm is overated in all aspects. Its only advantage over a 20 year old bike is the princess button. Thats my opinion realize this video is also opinion
@@evanmiller1642 if you say so, i still love yamahas but you gotta just come to the realization that the austrian bikes are better in almost every aspect, u can ride them longer due to the counterbalances, e start so faster and easier starts and especially easier in tight situations, hydro clutch so your hands don’t get tired from all the clutching, trust me i know cuz yamahas are notorious for the hard clutch pull, faster and stronger engine from the austrian bikes and its more then proven, better parts on the bike, updated tech, the only and i mean only thing the yz has on the austrian bikes is the ease of working on it.
@goon.1 But they have shity suspension, suspension makes the bike. Ktm beta sherco husqvarna. Doesnt matter how well the clutch or or if the motor will pull a house down at idle when the suspension sux. These bikes out of the box are choppy in the slow rocks and easily clank bottom when pushed hard. A 19-23 kx250 out of the box is where its at for usable comfortable suspension that just works. Toss 12/52 gears and fan on it it kill all the 300s everywhere. The yz125/250 also fit in this category That is just my opinion after spending alot of time on the 19-23 kx and all the different branded 300s and colors. Not to say any bike cant work as they obviously can just the 300s take more suspension work to make it happen
@@geryaldimx there is no simple answer for that like if you have a modern bike they are much easier to calculate. When I ride the bike fast high few speeds I can go about 2, 2-1/2 hrs. If you trail ride you can get 3hrs out of it. IMS makes an excellent oversized tanks I have one in the mail for my YZ450

So if you were standing in the dealership looking at a 2024 YZ250X and a 2024 300XC and could only buy one bike which would it be?

Titanium 2.1 much lighter and better options then the stock exhaust!
