You are so welcome my friend. I just admire the artistry in your pen selections but most of all in that writing. I can see the therapy hooooosing out of those nibs. You also re-introduced me to flex nibs, I am starting slowly with my FPR ultra flex. By the way the FPR Chrome is so much more flexy than the dual toned. I almost pulled the trigger on the Magna Carta but I resisted. I need to save for my trip. But I did pull the trigger on a couple of vintage pens that I could not resist. Stay tuned.

Journal back in your hotel room; before you go to bed. You'll need to enjoy yourself while in the moment, but if you wait beyond that day, you'll forget the little details and interactions with people. You'll forget the little thing that made you laugh, or a delicious scent, or the sound of birds. I always journal; right before bed; while the events of the day; are fresh in my mind.

As I write this I am going through the planning and I think I will use a combination: Short entries on the fly and longer ones later in the day. This way I will remember all of the details.

As for the swatches, I'm surprised your not using Life paper instead of Midori as your preference, glad to see Iroful in the swatches, it's really growing on me. Sorry to hear the new papers are a no go. Travel tips would be keeping pens and ink that are airplane friendly (air pressure), so a pen with a shutoff gasket, like a vac-filler or an Opus 88 eyedropper, or just use a cartridges with any cartridge pen. If you don't go with cartridges the Pineider Penfiller ink well is a convenient less-messy way to travel and fill pens with bottled inks. Also you have to think about going through airport security with liquids in bottles. As for filming get some good b-roll footage and do a voice over after, so you can enjoy your time there most important. I'm sure HJ could give you some tips about filming, he does a great job of that.

I'm so happy for you that you decided to go to Naples! You're exctiement comes across in the video - for what it's worth it sounds like you made the right call :) Have a great time!
As for any journalling tips, I recently tried travel journalling for the first time when I took a trip to Ottawa back in May. I put together a Traveler's Notebook - style setup using the regular size, and I found that really fun. I purchased a Canon Ivy 2 travel photo printer which I used to print instant photos I took on my phone, and made sure to collect various souvenirs from the placers I visited (ticket stubs, business cards, etc). Then at the end of each day, I would write about the events of the that day on the right-hand page in the notebook, and use the left-hand page to stick any photos or souvenirs into the notebook.
This worked really well for me and was a lot of fun. I found journalling at the end of the day gave me time for reflection about the day as a whole, and the ability to add 2" x 3" photos as well as other souvenirs made the process that much more enjoyable and made the journal a bit more interesting rather than just pages and pages of my awful handwriting :) There are a ton of YT videos on this concept if you think that this is something you might enjoy.

I've been traveling with a Galen Folio that holds 8 pens and two traveling inkwells, plus an A5 notebook. There are times I feel it to be a little too weighty in a backpack with a laptop, adapters etc. But I do like having the A5 paper with me. When I travel super streamlined, I carry a small Galen case that holds five pens and a TRP A6 notebook. I like carrying that to penshops, meetups, etc.

Another fantastic show Vincenzo, you seem to outdo yourself every week!!! For what you have planned, have a wonderful time, and I'm looking forward to when you publish any videos. Travel tips, what I do now is I write down short notes of the things that happen throughout the day. That is my reminder when I Journal in my A5 sized Journal every night. As for pens, I'd leave the more expensive pens home, but I would have at least an Opus 88, a Kakuno, and a pocket pen to write the short notes. With a couple extra cartridges I think I would be okay. I went to Naples some years back, but that was for work. On the pen front, I also noticed the green Jinhao 1935, and had I seen it before ordering the red I think I would have ordered it instead. As suggested I did find a seller on Etsy from Mantova Italy - I now have a vintage Omas Ogiva currently being shipped! Safe travels and above all else enjoy the experiences!!

With the plan of trips and visits to stores that you have described, I don't think you will have the strength to write a diary. So when you get back to Canada, take a notebook and write down your entire trip. Just kidding. I usually write a little bit every day either at home or when I travel. Sometimes I take notes as I go and other times at hotels or places of accommodation where I stay.
The important thing is to enjoy the experience of traveling and writing. I usually carry two vacuum fillers and a converter/cartridge pen.
    Have a good trip.

Le he puesto tinta Jacques Herbin Noir Abyssal. Saludos

It'll be a great trip, Vincenzo. Definitely, take a selection of pens with you (but leave room to bring some extras home after your visits to those great pen stores). I travel for business 2 or 3 times a month and always take a selection of fountain pens with me. For a short trip, I usually take 5, for a longer trip it's 10. I put the pen case in the seat pocket of the plane with the nibs up and have never had an issue with leaking ink whether it be cartridge, converter, piston or vac filler. I select the pens to give a range of nib options, ink colours and ink types (including shimmer). The pens are mostly ones that wouldn't cause too much angst if they were to be lost. Occasionally, I'll take a high end one depending on the destination. I use a Galen Leather passport holder or leather wallet for the passport size traveler's notebooks for jotting down notes during the day either with a Platinum Curidas if it's a tough environment or a Pilot Capless if the environment is more hospitable. You can then refer to the notes when journalling in the evening or after the trip. The only spare ink I take is in cartridges.

Thanks for an interesting video. I look forward to your Italy trip video. My only travel advice would be to travel light and maybe only take one EDC pen and a case if you be buying pens and inks. I might also take a big Tupperware for packing inks in your suitcase. Pack them tightly so no breakage, but also they won’t leak onto your clothes. Ziploc bags too perhaps. It will be deadly hot so sunblock, hat and lots of H20. Be sure to take lots of shots. Journal at night when shops are closed. Mostly have fun!

The productions of FPT Studios are becoming each time more interesting and entertaining. How I would love to accompany you on tour Italian FP journey, especially Napoli and Firence. I do know Casa della Stilografica, where I bought my Dolce Vita early Jan. this year (sadly only online) and I would like to see as well the shop and the friendly people working there in person. Just go ahead do videos of the places and your comments. Do not plan too much, don't spend time on too many details beforehand, when arriving on the set (so to speak) you will get much more ideas pouring out. But, if possible, could you focus a few minutes on a Nettuno 1911 Superba, black or green Resin, just holding it in your hands and letting me and your viewers know how it feels? Since weeks I"m debating with myself and didn't come to a conclusion. I'm intrigued by this button filler FP and its design.

You have some great shows planned. I'm new to fountain pens (about 3 months in), so I'm looking forward to any tips or suggestions you have for traveling with pens and ink.
One idea I've seen for travel journaling is to take along an envelope binder or small photo album and dedicate one envelope per day to loose papers (business cards, museum pamphlets, etc.). That way when you have time to do a longer journaling session about the day, you have the papers handy to jog your memory. I know it helps me remember which days I did what because I'm not always good about journaling the day of on trips. 😊

Vincenzo, just bought that Leonardo Bella di Notte pen that you reviewed. Can't wait to get it. I am so glad for you that you'll be visiting Delta. What an exciting opportunity. I just picked up the new Delta Spaccanapoli pen from Atlas at 50% off. Unfortunately the only color available for this price is the black one. I have to say that this is not a pretty pen. While it writes okay, I am not thrilled about the design. The design makes the pen looks cheap. I can't remember if you got one already or mentioned it in one of your recaps. I should have gotten a prettier one at least. Oh well. Thanks for all you do.

I would not bother with the ink to avoid accidents. If you need ink you can get that locally. Two decent pens should be more than enough. Reliable writers but nothing too costly. I suspect you will be purchasing pens while in Italy so if you make use of them the need to leave home with more than a couple disappears. One journal and one general notebook should do the trick. Only journal when you can. Remember, your dear wife will want to do stuff as well.

I will certainly be looking out for them. Especially the Stipula flex and the Pineider quill nibs.

With the midori paper, are you using the midori cotton or MD? There are different kinds of midori. I don’t really like the cotton, but the MD has always treated me well.

I am using the MD notebook. I have it in front of me as I write this reply and I must say I just have been so unfair to this paper. Like my pen resurrection, I will have to start a new section, the notebook resurrection. Its somewhere in between Cosmo and Tomoe River. Stay tuned!

Napoli, Roma, Firenze .... Outstanding ! And so much things also to visit on top of everything related to fountain pens ... Beautiful towns (Some guys are afraid to visit Napoli due to some 'quartieri Spagnoli' and mafia, I've never felt in danger even the night). I will follow all your videos, I don't want to miss it ! Don't hesitate also to show sometimes how Italy Is beautiful to visit, from my opinion it is completely part of the italian pens (history, monument, culture etc...). One suggestion/tip when you have to flight a lot, only one pen will survive :-) : Pilot Custom 832 (This pen is always part of my travels, because no ink problem in planes, you can keep this pen inked all the time, everywhere). A really great travel including outside Italy, have a looot of fun !
