They have fire rings to keep compression if the head doesn't lift too much you can still run em.. it's only 1/8th mile running through 1 gear on a powerglide most likely

arrgorndenethor why would you get tired of such a versatile engine platform? LS/LT are usually always setup different with thousands of aftermarket companies to choose from. Coyotes and mopars are usually all the same with the same set up. By your logic you’d think you’d rather see LS since it is likely a setup you’ve never seen before. Sure the blocks the same but everything else is usually different

Its because it has a crack in the surface the length of the 1/8 right where the right rear tire sits in the rubber... it sucks if you don't line the car up properly.

I'm neither a Ford or Chevy guy, I like both. But just about every fast Ford in the world has a Chevy LS swap. Not sure why there's any debate who's better. It's obviously Chevy lol.

Also I love LS power and my current grudge car is LS powered, but have you ever seen a Chevy make over 1600whp with stock heads, stock cams, tuned on the stock ecu and running 8’s through a factory trans with a convertor? I’ve seen this in an S550 with Coyote power, never in an F body with LS or LT power. Just saying
@@kennethpowers8995 I understand the $ to power ratio but back in 2012 you supposedly couldn’t make 700hp on a stock Ls and now ppl are over 1000 on “stock” bottom ends. The Ford and Mopar engines are just as capable just cost 3 times as much to build. There are just far to many me 2 and bandwagon racers nowadays. I wouldn’t care to see another LS powered fox body in my life.

Something for the future and 1320 guys to take note of is rolling shutter and the parallax effect when reviewing footage. You'd be better using slo mo camera (even an iPhone) mounted right at the *exact* finish. Panning along with rolling shutter actually won't show the cars in their *exact* position and parallax will make that more so if there's any other movement.

Absolutely LUV that AMC. Aside from the obvious rarity these days I have always wondered why we don't see more of that body at the track, it was so ahead of it's time WRT the aero design.

Not really, the 1/4 has way more time to big end a car. In the 1/8 if you can't launch then you're screwed. Its all about the tuning and less about who spent more money. If by difficult you mean you have to work harder at your 9-5 to compete, then sure. The 1/4 traps higher but the 1/8 is more competitive, especially in a no prep.
Michael I totally agree it was mostly just a joke because each requires different things from the car and the tune I just prefer a quarter mile because the feeling of an 8 second car is unreal
@@mguay001 All the money is made on the front half tho. Very few races are won on the big end, but when it happens, its usually dramatic and more exciting. Those moments get all the coverage.
I gotta say, I prefer 1/4 mile racing. Those higher trap speeds are what get my blood pumping.

Well not exactly showroom cuz the car makes 1100 to the wheels. It's been 9.1 in the quarter mile with zero trans tuning. Once that's unlocked it'll run 8's easily. I believe it's the fastest GT500 currently. She a heavy girl though. And had no chance against that lightweight Camaro. 2550 lbs vs 4200+lbs. Go figure who wins. Still impressive nonetheless

it seems like yesterday the winning tune up in the engine was 40 degrees advance in timing(lock-up),slightly rich tune in carb that depended on ambient temp and elevation or air pressure .sometimes with really bad traction you could kill some ``excess``torque with cam settings but those who had the opportunity were a few.i was one of them few as i managed to trade a really expensive oilpan to a jesel cam drive.also fiddling round with valve lash worked if you knew what you are doing.i did a lot of street driving with chevy big blocks and holley dominators(carburetors)and managed some good results like squeezing 750 hp out of 11.5:1 comp iron head 461 cid stock block chevy.also a 800 +hp roots blown 467 was pretty nice street engine.then i built a blown vintage pro stock engine and run out of money as the engine just blew thru my A-1 race converter.nowadays guys read computer screens,yesterday we read ign plugs.(some still do as sort of back up).
I know these guys have underglow so they can work on their cars .....but leaving the back on so the line can see the run is pretty Epic! And a better guy couldn't have got the win!!!
