I know there will be many comments lamenting the lack of articulation, but for a fully-independent suspension, it has surprisingly good articulation. And seriously, the Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is insanely capable for a vehicle of its size and a crossover having independent suspension.
Awesome video! Love seeing the Grand Cherokee where it belongs. I wheeled a 95 Grand Cherokee on 33s for a long time, and just ordered myself a 2017 GC Trailhawk diesel. Cannot wait to get it out and play around.
Funny how a lot of people believe the Grand Cherokee became a mommy mobile like the Toyota Highlander. Nope, this video proves the Grand Cherokee. We have a Trailhawk also with a Hemi engine. I know it's capable, and one day I will take off-road.
Well Driven Sir, I have a jeep set up the same way with the air suspension and the QD2, it is very different to drive because the air suspension is quite harsh when at off-road height 2 and if you want to get the best out of the QD2 system it is best to take it a lot slower than you would with most other 4wd's. You have to give those excellent electronics time to work their magic. You drove it spot on.
@@dotustm8926 Incorrect. The TrailHawk has QuadraDrive II (well, II.5, or 1.5 in my opinion). The rear axle is LSD UNTIL the computer decides to lock it. It cannot be manually locked by the Driver. The front axle does not have an LSD, only traction control. That is why I call it 1.5. The WK (the previous generation had QuadraDrive II, and the front axles was the same as the rear - LSD until the computer decided to lock it. I believe there was traction control both front and rear, too.
just a little bit smoother and constant on the throttle and that GC will go gliding up there. The electronics of this system handles that type of terrain very well.
Extremely impressed! Great driving great spotting, well done. Was this the diesel? I didn't like the lack of wheel articulation, but the drive system handled the wheels in the air with no problems. I have the limited (no air lift) and wouldn't even think of this trail. I have had it in thick mud and I wasn't impressed. It didn't get stuck, but I did have to work it hard. I may end up with the 2" OME lift. I'm just trying to get the details on it.
There is a Trailhawk version for 2013 only. Only 2000 were built. It's basically a Laredo with Quadra-drive II and Quadra-lift air suspension, and a host of exclusive cosmetic visuals like the large, matte black hood decal and grey wheels. It also comes with Goodyear Kevlar off-road tires. It can be had with either the Pentastar V6 or HEMI 5.7 just like a normal Grand Cherokee.
***** They are actually available in the 3.0crd as well (as this one is), but closer to limited spec than laredo. Also comes with front and rear hooks factory, sliders and skid plates.\
Yup. Forgot to mention non US spec versions that have that engine. My family actually has a HEMI Trailhawk, and I did notice the thick skid plates and rock rails on the bottom. It was the luckiest find we ever found when buying a new car because it happened to be the last 2013 model on the dealer lot that had an $8000 discount. What a deal! It had a discount because no one bought it for months and 2014 models were already for sale.
Aren't you Guys ashamed of yourselves? Is this what you call Ofroading? This Car is Like a none-stoppable APC Chieftain Mark: It's a WK2 Trailhawk Cherokee with QuadTrack2 System. Then at 2011 I was not a competitor but just a volunteer Trackholder. This is the Problem : Dare or Dare not !!!
There's very little due to all independent suspension....most modern 4WD's are the same or similar and rely more on Traction Control to get through - The olde Landrover Discovery's had both Live axles and TC which is good.
..amd you can drive it comfortable to the soccer game.. no its not a modded Wrangler with lockers. But its so much more capable across the board. It is no rock crawler, buts it pretty awesome to go overlanding with heated and vented seated. I will drive a wrangler when i want to get beat up. Arround town for almost everything else..wk2
@@chrisj9008 I feel the same way. My overland drives like a cadillac and can handle most off road situations I get into here in Arizona. I love the wrangler, but it's just too loud on the highway to be my every day driver.

seedorfj u are an idiot
This was actually pretty good, this truck is definitely more capable than what it seems, love my GC
I am truly amazed at what I just watched. I cant belive the overall traction it can get from just street tires.

excellent job, never thought I`d see a nice new one used!!!!
damn nice teamwork. and awesome GC, well done
Nicely directed and driven. Welldone to both.
The GC TrailHawk is amazingly capable with stock tires. It becomes a beast with 33" MT tires.
Nice & controlled crawl! that is the way to do it!
These 4x4 systems in the jeeps need some wheel spin to make the decisions to transfer power. Some throttle helps.
I like the vid. These are capable rigs from the factory.
The rear on this trailhawk is a selectable solid full lock. Front is the highly reliable and functional Break locking differential.
Yep

Wonderful. Beautiful job. Great machine
The King of 4x4 power...
Why people don't go with the OEM trailer hitch I'll never understand. Can be found on ebay for the same price as aftermarket, or even less
Another good video mate! It did good up the top of the hill.

Great video! You have to love the torque that diesel provides. Anyone know what tires their running?
Brian M They were the factory supplier Goodyear wranglers
Amazing skills, All Day EveryDay JEEPS😎💯
wow. great challenge for that short piece.
Would love to see the cherokee trailhawk try this same spot to see how it'll do.
Good communication helps a lot
I'm hoping you will get that video for telecom up soon! I have this exact vehicle but in blue. I 've done similar trails.
Shit I guess these are more than soccer mom suvs. I always loved the Grand Cherokees. They are just go quiet and comfortable.

Huge balls challenge for bone stock truck
is that totally stock dave? impressed.
Diesel Trailhawk....The dream in america.
You could buy the diesel Cherokee here and put the RR 2.5 Lift on it. With some nice tires it'll do good
No longer a dream. Ordered my 2017 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk diesel three weeks ago.
IFS in rear ruined these rigs
that's a beast. that's the model with QD-II and Quadra lift right?
Nice to see it not being used as a mall crawler!!
It's clear that the rear diff is locked...which selec terrain choice did you choose?
Respectable
Nice work mate. Hit us up when you head to Sydney and we can go on a trip together
Damn, that was impressive. Not for me though in a car that expensive, lol.
Good video, I can tell Jeep got rid of the limited slip front axle from the WK to the WK2. God knows why!
Hey i was wondering.... does that have more ground clearance than your truck and if he is getting up the wall a little bit?
Is that a Grand Cherokee with the Trailhawk badging? I thought only the Cherokee and Renegade had that badging???

cool video!
good video
Why not buy a rubicon instead?🤔
Still waiting lol.
You will double your traction, this thing is slipping all over. 20 PSI.
ian hicks Tyres were already at 22psi
Sounds like a diesel 😁
Why didn’t he just go up the left side?
No fun in that lol
No challenge
Air down the tires.
Spotter. out of the way
Why did you go so slow?!? WEAK
Meh what's the point I can walk faster than this thing crawls.....
The point is you won't be walking
