- Testing 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk for the first time in Borrego Springs CA (Anza-Borrego Desert State Park). Stock jeep with Mopar Rock Rails, skid plates and air suspension.
Jeep engineers everywhere are proud of you son.
Although I own a Rubicon I love seeing other model jeeps on the trail being used how they should. Well done.
The driver made those Mopar Rock Rails do their job! Shame the rock sliders on my crossover aren't nearly as tough... Thanks so much for uploading, glad to see a Jeep that isn't a pavement queen like the many that roam the cities.
Love watching people using their Jeeps to go off roading, I love mine too much, don't want any major scratches on it.
Nice job, Ed. Good thing for those Rock Sliders!
Cool stuff. Windows up, a/c on...nicely done👍👍😎🇺🇸 Just ordered one!
A Jeep's gotta do Jeep things! WK2 might be a weaker platform of the GC, but these babies still get the job done
Now I want a Jeep!
Its an adiction mate dont buy one unless your ready for it lol.
Vanand Sinanian just buy a RZR. They’ll be better to off-road in
More footage please!!!
Good job! That's what they're built for ;-)
Yea it's what they built for but why? what is the point? I have one and I love it but I see no reason to go off road at all. I just like the fact it can and I don't even know why. So why they need to go off road?
@@Qugie Cars drive better than suvs. If you're not going to go off road, get a car.
@@eightosaurusspelunk1598 I join an Off road group I drive off road now even put off road tires on it.
@@Qugie because it's fun for THIS person and OTHER people
@@Ryan-yo4dg O that was me 2 years ago. I off road in my Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland (after I changed the Tires) so don't pay attention 2 Old me he didn't know any better.
California is a long way from me, but I think I've gotta make it!
Go to California on Jeep, what problèm?
niceeeee
thank you
Would’ve gotten Honda but can’t beat grand Cherokee interior Honda definately sux with it
Did the rockrails protect everything?
Yes they did. Got them scratched a little, but nothing else got damaged. It's a must have if you are going to do any offroading.
Are those the mopar rock rails? Looking at getting some for my Trailhawk
@@us_and_a are those rock rails from Off Road Animal?
Ryan, they are Mopar rock rails
nightlighton they are, definitely a must have if you are planning to go over rocks
Wow. Now that is some serious capability :0 Trailhawk don't lie ☝️
Love the Jeep. Have a Trailhawk myself. What rack and basket setup are you running?
Rack is $100 from Amazon and Yakima basket. Not really a fan of the basket though, I like hitch attachment solutions better.
Will it buff out with a damp paper towel ?
I would not use paper towel to buff out anything on my car. Rock Slider got deep scratches, they would not buff out with anything, needed to be touched up with paint.
We were in a pickle between a 17 GC TrailHawk and a JKU Rubicon Recon. We ended up with the Recon. It seemed to me that when the suspension is fully up in the GC, the ride quality is very stiff, and the articulation decreases. But, I did like the optional Hemi in the GC, it's one option I wish Wranglers had.
It's been a few months, how do you like your Recon?
Rick Rodriguez i love the air supension, i wont be doin crazy offroadin and i want to tow a lil teardrop to go off grid campin, with the 5.7, airride, and not a need for a wrangler abilities ill get this instrad of a wrangler...wht do you think??
Ed nice job handling and video, do you have any trails you might recommend to a novice with a 2017 grand cherokee trailhawk?
This was my first off roading trip. After that I did 2 day Jeep Jamboree in Big Bear (highly recommended). I recently went to Trabuco Canyon (Trabucco Creek Rd), there is nothing crazy about it, but might be a good place for the first time going offroad, there are some side trails where you can challenge your skills a little. AllTrails dot com is a good reference site with reviews from drivers/riders like us ;)
Doesn't look like you were in 4 low. Were you in rock mode? That and did you have the air suspension up in off road 2?
I was in off road 2. I also forgot to turn off automatic engine shutoff feature, so when I pressed on the brakes, engine turned off and then suspension went down. First time offroading, it was fun.
@@us_and_a Awesome! I hate that engine shutoff crap. I need to put a sticky note on the wheel to remind myself to shut it off as soon as I get in. Not sure why it can't be turned off permanently in the settings.
I can't wait to get out and do some wheeling in our '18. Just hit 5k on it for mileage.
@@MrNuthed I highly suggest signing up for one of the Jeep Jamboree events. Worth every penny.
I don't go that aggressive off road with my Jeep, you gotta check out the Alabama Hills by Lone Pine, ca. All kinds of scenic and easy to tough trails: ua-cam.com/video/vBMKjcePp1U/v-deo.html
Hassan Alatrash thanks for sharing, is that the place where you take your KTM off-roading as well?
Ed V yes, endless trails, also nearby up to Cerro Gordo via the Keeler route or the more technical Swansea route... incredible area and very scenic.
Hassan Alatrash I will hit you up once I get my own ktm, maybe we could off-road and ride together ;)
This actually porn at it's finest great seeing a grand Cherokee doing this
Trailwarrior
Super masin👍
спасибо!
Did you make it all the way to the end?
Not sure where the end is. We made it to the next big obstacle where I was not brave enough to go through it. My buddy with Rubicon was able to go through it though. This video was made on the way back.
Why are the leds flashing so fast like that @ 2:05
They are not, phone's camera (video was recorded on multiple different brand phones) made them look like they are flashing
Refresh rate of the headlamps and frames per second of the camera not in sync.
What roof basket is that?
It's Yakima LoadWarrior
Ed V thank you!
Uu shortened the life span of ur jeep by 6.4 years😁
I probably did, however, experience was priceless, I would do it again ;)
you whole problem is you stop too much keep moving don't stop
It was my first time off-roading. I would do a few things different now, like adjust tire pressure, turn off Eco mode (auto engine shut off). At one point when I pressed on the brakes, engine shut off and air suspension went from off-road 2 to aero mode.
exactly the tires need to spin so the computer can figure out where to apply the power to
So you live in CA. and bought a black Jeep so you can carry you and your passengers in a mobile solar oven?
Do the rock rails come stock on the trailhawk?
Matt Maroney they don’t.
$995 addon for the mopar
