it is because of videos like this that I think Reverb is the site to beat when it comes to musicians and tools for musicians. There's nothing here about selling gear or brand pushing. It's just someone who loves music sharing what they love.

Mark Nason the video by mikaya about snare doubling would have saved me sooo much time and energy wondering what and trying to figure out what chris dave and george McCurdy were doing lol no joke! youtube has come far. the hihat wash technique in this vid is new to me. have you watched the scott pellgram on drumeo its got fx I've always wanted to learn that cymbal scrape honing technique he does its hard ive never gotten it but ive not practiced it extensively either for fear of scratching the cymbals.

Truth be told, there's plenty of great and informative videos in this channel with a fair share of obvious product pushing. Still good content, but Reverb is a company. Their bottom end is to make money.

which makes you want to buy the gear even more than a. hard shill would!!!

There is some genuinely amazing stuff going on here. That scraping the bottom of the snare thing is something you will see a lot more of in the future I feel. Benny Greb will take that and run with it haha.
On a separate note, this guy must be a real challenge for sound engineers. A unique take on drums requires a unique recording method and most engineers I know have a "go-to" method for drum recording.
Already checking out this guys stuff.

Omg that was just too brilliant. Instead of getting some expensive effects unit or go to the studio or whatever you can use acoustic drums & cymbals to mimic those effects & sounds Well done! 😃

Look up Big Fat Snare Drum. Its like an extra drum head you put on your snare head, to get it dead / phat.

Amazing ideas and great tones, but there is some sacrifice at the expense of timing for all that ambition. I understand this was an exhibition of these concepts however and couldn't have done it better myself.

Only due to microphones, EQ and compressing this may look sounds OK. But without all that recording/mixing gear this drums sounds dull & flat.

I think it's time to retire that shirt. The neck is soo stretched out. Reminds me of a laundry commercial.
