Thanks for the comment. To be fair though, Im surprised we caught anything.. all of us standing there thought he was off, and were ready to run for him, so thats why we had such a camera wobble just afterwards. I love the TT!!!
"Fooken Hell" LMAO I played the video back about 10 times to hear that. Amazing shot you got there! I envy you that you can be at that race I would kill to be there!
Didn't see a damn thing the first few views....then I adopted the pause-play-pause-play method.....holy mother of christ. Well done fella, incredible footage. I'd have creamed my undies myself!
And what does he do right after that incident? He gets back on it. TT racers are a special breed. I have nothing but respect for them and would love to be there for the race!
That's has to be scary shit man. Tearing down lanes at 160+ with loads of dips and slight cambers waiting to catch you out....nothing but solid brick walls, houses and immovable objects like phone boxes and post boxes on either side.....He was lucky to get away with that one....crashing in a place like that at that speed there's good odds on it being a fatal.....The TT is balls of steel shit.
Great vid exactly wot the tt is all about. Been five times n will always love it! Them taking part in races are the best in the world bar none, including wsb and mogp
If you look close it was less of a speed wobble and more of a launch that he landed with the front wheel turned. You can slow it down by pressing pause at 1:11 then press forward on your keyboard to go frame by frame.
The tank slap(er) term comes from when the old guys used to build "cafe racers" from stock bikes. They would replace the standard handlebars for drop bars, now known as "clip ons",obviously to get in a more aerodynamic position for extra speed, but in doing so when the steering was placed on full lock, the riders hand would hit the tank. So if they were riding at speed the steering began violently swapping from one lock to the the other,as it often can,the riders hands slapped,or hit the fuel tank
pause at 1;11 then..as stated in the video description. this video has been shared for people to see with an interest. not for people to reply with darrogatory remarks. enjoy.
I think you'l find you are wrong. I am aware that what you see in my video isnt a full on proper tank slapper, but after all, it is a term used very loosely anway. However, thanks for the comment.
Love the camera mans reaction, that was fucking INSANE, all those guys are FUCKING INSANEEE!! That guy had a big BIG moment there, and was the luckiest man in the world that day. Jesus Christ
I read the description, and the only MEGA wobble I can see is the cameraman. Not calling his a liar, but the video quality sucks too much to see what he's talking about.
For any of you armchair experts slating this video, who have never ridden anything more than a moped in spain...... it dont need to be big at 150mph...the slightest twitch is "massive" at that speed, try it one day and get back to me... Mega funny response from the camera guy..makes me laugh every time..
Bikers of the world! save up your money! go to the TT ! best and original bike race. I went last year(always early June) what an event! so international on such a tiny island! Australians,Americans,French,Dutch,Germans....et.al. Wanna race? Jeez you need big balls!
@SuperPheasantplucker Erm no it isn't,a tankslapper is when the handlebars of the bike go wildly from one side to the other and you lose all control over the bike and your body slaps against the fuel tank, hence the term 'tankslapper',when the tank hits the floor that's called a crash mate ;)
just sayin...its hard to catch cuz the camera goes /WOBBLE WOBBLE WOBBLE right as he goes through his wobble. pause play pause play and you see it more clearly, but yeah, he probably needed new leathers
@stuYZFR1 You are completely right,a tank slapper at any speed is a heart in the mouth moment,i,ve had a few in my time but the worst was on my 05 zx10r after landing a wheelie at 60-65mph and it was a lock to lock moment,i,ve also landed wheelies at 130 plus and never had 1 as bad as the 1 that i landed at 60-65mph.Like you say it doesnt need to be big speed..
@stuYZFR1 Cheers Pal.. I agree.....that twitch, WAS "massive" though!! but happened so quick, camera failed to catch all of what we saw!! I hope none of the armchair experts you refer to actualy do go and try it thou...... They wouldnt come back!!! ;))
Brilliant much be such a buzz and to be so close and at that speed, like the man says fxxking hell ,have yet to get to TT, thanks for vid and for the tip bout pausing and using keybpard to do frame at time.
These guys are incredibly skilful and brave, but if I was spectating I'd never stand on the exit of any bend. Very foolish especially with kids. I know it's exciting but really, why not stand on the opposite side of the circuit off line?
It looks like it's the rider's fault. FF to 1:11, front end is in the air while he is on the back wheel and the front wheel is turned all the way to the left.. Fuckkkkk
"Mega funny response from the camera guy.. makes me laugh every time.." Sounds more like whoever is talking after the "Fookin 'Ell", is flat Drunk & Knackered from getting to much real Sun !
@140379ben Pause and freeze frame like it sais in the description then..... Why do you have to take a sarcastic atitude towards someones efforts to show you what they feel might be interesting!?! Get a grip!!
That was Steve Plater, it was a massive moment but you get 2 or 3 of them each lap for every rider. That's just the madness and thrill of the TT! :)
Murdererrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr 😢
Didn't see a damn thing the first few views....then I adopted the pause-play-pause-play method.....holy mother of christ.
Well done fella, incredible footage. I'd have creamed my undies myself!
@stuYZFR1 Anyone who does the TT has balls of steel. Too many arnchair experts these days. the reaction of the camera guy says it all !
Plater is crazy! Seen him do this at wagon and horses jump the same year!!
And what does he do right after that incident? He gets back on it. TT racers are a special breed. I have nothing but respect for them and would love to be there for the race!

Very nice and lucky shot, your cam focuses just at the right time, thanks for sharing. Amazing physics going on there...and maby little magic too ; D
thats what i said when i saw that bit! great job for getting that shot mate, big ups to the rider!!!
Great vid exactly wot the tt is all about. Been five times n will always love it! Them taking part in races are the best in the world bar none, including wsb and mogp
absolutely brilliant video mate and also not ruined by some crappy music, there's no need for music when you have the howl of these things flying past
Yes, that game was based on this event, the Isle of Man TT. (Although it's not a very accurate depiction) :P
If you look close it was less of a speed wobble and more of a launch that he landed with the front wheel turned. You can slow it down by pressing pause at 1:11 then press forward on your keyboard to go frame by frame.
Good video. The swearing made me laugh, was like half dissapointment and half satisfaction each time a rider went past haha
The BEST sport event on the planet! IMO ;)
i gather that was chuck norris slapping the tank on his way past! :D great vid cheers ;)
The tank slap(er) term comes from when the old guys used to build "cafe racers" from stock bikes. props to the rider for not letting it go
pause at 1;11 then..as stated in the video description. this video has been shared for people to see with an interest. not for people to reply with darrogatory remarks. enjoy.
I think you'l find you are wrong. I am aware that what you see in my video isnt a full on proper tank slapper, but after all, it is a term used very loosely anway. However, thanks for the comment.
He has talked about this on film, this is the first i have seen it.
That is a big moment :)
Love the camera mans reaction, that was fucking INSANE, all those guys are FUCKING INSANEEE!! That guy had a big BIG moment there, and was the luckiest man in the world that day. Jesus Christ
The skill of these riders is unbelievable!
I think that was Steve Plater
You're spot-on! 👍
I read the description, and the only MEGA wobble I can see is the cameraman. Not calling his a liar, but the video quality sucks too much to see what he's talking about.
can't you see the front wheel come off the ground at 1:10 ?
"OH MY GOD, FARRRKIN HELL" - My new ring tone for when the girlfriend calls
Is that someone holding a BABY at the outside edge of that corner?!?!
wow a close shave just as impressive a lot of those riders are popping the front wheel off they are really getting on the throttle!
they are coming uphill and there's a crest. If they are not aligned while approaching it it can end very badly.
@yahoopig pause at 1:12, rider has the front wheel up in the air and left foot off the peg! very fortunate to have stayed on
That wasn't a speed wobble he was just doing a whip.
Regularly 150 - 160 mph at Rhencullen... which is where the video was takern. :)
AS A SPECTATOR DO NOT STAND ON THE OUTER RADIUS OF THE TURN.
@SuperPheasantplucker Where did you get that information from????
I dont get the 'tank slap' term...he got to much air below his bike, so he kinda got air??
For any of you armchair experts slating this video, who have never ridden anything more than a moped in spain...... it dont need to be big at 150mph...the slightest twitch is "massive" at that speed, try it one day and get back to me...
Mega funny response from the camera guy..makes me laugh every time..
holy shit that was an insane recovery
that was crazy but theres no way theyre doin 160 there... maybe 120
" FUCKIN HELL" lol
That makes a fucking whole lot of sense!!!!
Bikers of the world! save up your money! go to the TT ! best and original bike race.
I went last year(always early June) what an event! so international on such a tiny island!
Australians,Americans,French,Dutch,Germans....et.al.
Wanna race? Jeez you need big balls!
Is that Dan Kneen? Looks a little red for his moment.
if you catch the right 1:11 you see his front end is in the air- tired turned to the left!! DAYUM
