One of his great strengths was expresssing the vulnerability of the human condition and did it with such power. No one else could ever match him with that.
Caruso is the only tenor who consistently makes me sit down in tears and all I can do is listen to the glory. He moves me more than any singer ever. He was unique. His voice was so powerful so sweet so vulnerable so triumphant. He had every quality. Someone said he had the voice of a person not just a singer. That really is it.
this is why Italian people were thinking of him as a family when he died.... RIP great one!
The greatest Tenor of all times ❤ the greatest voice ever 😍
It is true... you can hear it ... :)
im a 25 year old from texas hearing this for the first time and my lord this man was incredible!
Welcome aboard the opera train! Glad to have you. I'm 73 and overjoyed to hear your reaction.
you sir, can read my levitten.
I'm so happy for you. Opera can enrich our life. I am 80 years old and has always been solace and joy to my soul.
Just imagine being able to listen to him on a daily basis on the original shellac records. I own 9 of them. I don’t even touch them with my fingers they’re so fragile. They date from 1908-1927
I am glad for you that you made a wonderful discovery for yourself early enough. Don't stop: there are still many amazing surprises ahead of you!
I grew up listening to Caruso & Mario Lanza among others as my Dad loved the Italian opera & tenor singers. Such passion! Also played the violin for several years.
Listening to this type of music brings tears even after so many years. ❤❤
My mouth opens in wonderment, my eyes shed tears in feeling, thany-you Caruso!
The world's greatest Tenor ! A legend !
Sec9nd greatest tenoe
Words like "greatest" have little meaning when it comes to tenors!! I'm sure you wouldn't like to hear that I am more than satisfied to hear other tenors such as Carreras, Pavarotti, Gigli, Zenatello, and Villazon depending on circumstances...
Hi and sending love from the IRAN 🇮🇷 I love ❤️ opera so much.thankyou
Thanks you so much. Sending back love from France ❤️
Caruso, il più grande di tutti! 🇮🇹
Enrico Caruso Had Supernatural Voice , all is True About Him Being the Best Among the Best of so meny Wonderful Italian Tenors !! His Lovely Manly Looks !! Befitting Such a Divine Male Voice , I Always transcend Hearing Him , Long Live , Caruso !! In His Dear Napoly ...
We had 78s and when I was little we used to listen to them constantly. I am 62 and I still love listening to these musical diamonds. For those of you who are just discovering Caruso, enjoy. I think of happier times when I hear these arias.
Diluvio vocale dagli accenti celestiali!
Vero, vero
Voce straordinaria per tono, fluidità, pronuncia perfetta. Voce calda, sempre espressiva. Credo sia unico!
Carozo, incomparable!!!
Espressione Morbidezza e precisione timbrica unica.
Mario Lanza and Enrio Caruso are new to me!!! What fun right! I will have years of awesome singing!

There was Caruso and then other great tenors. He was unique though words can't describe why.
Recordings of the World's greatest tenor ever.
Grande Enrico unico

Il Re tra i tenori.
Divino.
❤️🤩
il vecchio
Fantastico, ineguagliabile..
Thank you for allowing younger generations to hear this timeless beauty❤
I always savored the story of Caruso approaching John MacCormack in a hotel lobby and saying "How's is the world's greatest tenor" to which MacCormack answered, "when did you become a baritone?" It may not be true, but both were fantastic early 20th century tenors.
Thanks for sharing this story !
Why Caruso? Past Life Experience they say😇
The orchestra is strained keeping up with the Great Maestro
❤❤❤❤Enrico Caruso so enchanting
Non me ne voglia ... Pavarotti che io amo tantissimo.
Concordo in pieno.
@@salvatorespinelli1328 my Father sang in Opera with him he was a leading Tenor in the Chorus at the Covent Garden in London from 1909 till 1940, he heard all the greats of that Period Martinelli whom he and I also greatly admired Taccani Zenatello Pertile Lauri Volpi Gigli Melchior Tauber Roswaenge Lorenz Borgioli and on and on, he said that Caruso was simply unique and was in another universe from all the others, many had beautiful or Dramatic or lyrical or even both, but he said if you were near Caruso you would hear all of his voice the Sheer Strength and Power his Dynamics his empathy for what he was singing , his voice was large and luscious he had all the combinations and an equally superb Lower Register.
I have said before those who say he did not have an High C are talking complete sorry to swear "Bollocks" . he certainly used it in London when he appeared regularly, in Huguenots Faust and even in Puritani which he sang at the London Coliseum in 1911, in other Opera's as well, my father wrote in his diary that in a performance of Faust with Melba Journet and Amato, he sang the Salut Demeure with such emotion and with immensly Beautiful tone with a ringing High C that would go to the back of the Theatre and Come back to the stage, that even Melba was crying, the performance was stopped and the Great Tenor was applauede by everyone on stage on the side stage Audience Mr Pitt the Conductor and the Orchestra, emotion was always with Caruso like no other Tenor. Melba upon hearing of Caruso's death said that the Greatest of all singers was now with the almighty, he will be eternally remembered I will miss him greatly. Melba was quite a stubborn lady who did not like Italians whom she thought were rude, she obviously did that for show, her love for Caruso's voice never left her either.
My Father lived long enough to hear all the best Tenors from the war up till his Death in 1979 , he told me many times there was still no one to touch him, that included Del Monaco Corelli Bjorling Domigo Pavarotti Di Stefano Etc, he did say the Young Di Stefano was a joy to listen to and he thought Domingo wasa Baritone and a Light one, Pavorotti he said should keep to Bellini and Donizetti he is a pure Lyrical Beautiful voice, he also heard a certain Mario Lanza twice in London at the Royal gala's at the Palladium, is opinion of him that he was overbearing and a showman with a good voice that should have been trained properly, he had poor breath control.
I can say I am now in my 104th Year, I am housebound and I can say personally I cannot listen to modern opera singers, the screaming poncy Tenors , to fake singers like Florez and that awful man Vogt, Kauffman needs to find out where he gets that Horrible throaty sound from , it seems to come from his toes, he is NOT a good tenor Villazon when I first heard him had beauty, but he thought he was Caruso and paid the price, Netrebko I saw in St Petersburg in 1995, a beautiful light lyrical Soprano, now its like watching a Circus, Singing in its true Operatic form is becoming extinct, it need not happen, stop the training of so called Pop Singing Opera Stars, tell them fill their chest with air start singing with the Mouth opened drop their Jaw, let the true voice pour out Chest notes not these mamby pamby notes from the Mak that sound like mice squeking, I am sure Caruso could Fart stronger than most Modern Singers he or Martinelli or Melchior did not need Microphones why because they were trained to project the voice and to use their Chest.
Oh my God I am going astray, sorry Caruso is Immortal the rest are below his qualities as a Man Singer and all round Decent Human being.
Prynhawn da oes gwelwch yn dda.
@@robertevans8010 dear Mr.Evans, what did your late father say about maestro Gigli? Maestro had a very rich lyrical tenor, though he could sing Otello and Radames after his 50, when his voice had naturally darkened. But still, it was so gentle and rich, was it not?

Grande Caruso !!
Nobody does any better than Caruso at 28:05.

Come here to cure my ears after Kauffman. Bravo Caruso, this is the old school opera!
EQUALIZER Variante
(update Einstellung!)
*©2024* HL, Germany.

Thanks for commenting :)
Reihe".
I agree all that has been said about Caruso and have listened and enjoyed his singing since I was 13 years old and I am no 89 years old
Caruso,the best tenor ever !

Él no tenía a quien imitar. Ni pudo ser imitado. 🤗
Me fascina Enrico Caruso. Sobre todo Una furtiva lágrima. Gracias
To say the verity in few words: he is the best of all!
The world's first superstar singer. It was the phonograph that catapulted his incomparable talent to such height.
Every time I here Caruso sing this it touches my soul.

Quelle voix !
Sr. Caruso is pure heart and soul, and voice. 🌹🌹🌹
He is Opera Himself! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful, and ample, register, perfect pitch, controlled tone and volume at will.
And these were acoustic records, recorded with no microphone or amplification.
He was the world's greatest singer.
How then were they recorded? Thanks
Que grande!!
Agree 100%
I agree. Caruso had an acoustic like lungs. His sound was born on the bottom of his lungs. Listen carefully.
He was,Indeed, the greatest and will never be equalled. Grazie,Enrico
Once heard and the bar is so high. You never want to hear anybody else despite of sound quality and modern sound techniques.
5 Stars!!!!!
perhaps because he is the least insipid of tenors? (he's not insipid at all!)
There are tenors, and many fine ones, but there will always be Caruso, if not only for his powerful instrument, but above all, his humanity to remind us the heights art can reach. Rembrandt reached it (look into the eyes of his self-portraits), as did Shakespeare.
True ❤️
Well he did Record with Tito Ruffo the duet from Verdi Otello Based on Shakespeare Othello on Thursday January 8th 1914 Just Eight Months before World War One Broke out on Tuesday August 4th 1914 a war that was going too claim 10 Million lives before it finally ended at 11am on Monday November 11th 1918
Eddie, I think what Caruso does is beyond art, it is Divine. It is as if a G-d’ angel is moving his heart and vocal cords.

Un verdadero y maravilloso tenor.
Az olasz opera megalapítójója volt tenorként Caruso.
Az operaénekes Caruzo 19. században Nápolyban született. Később nagyon sok követője lett.
Obviously, in sound reasoning, Caruso is the greatest male tenor singer of all time as well as Maria Callas, the best soprano!
"sound" as an adjective? circular...
otherwise, I'm tempted to agree!
that is true until you hear the older singers and understand that were better ones.....like Alessandro Bonci...Adelina Patti, Rosa POnselle and others.....research

He was a true tenor..
I see what you mean -- he never seems to be reaching for it or trying to open it up. Thanks for the observation!
The best, velvet voice, inmense, captivating...
absolutely splendid "BRAVO"
I simply love his passion and heart .. Where is just one gentleman like him today? I am 54 and single..they just don't make them like they did before my time I guess.
Try listening to one from your own generation who carries Caruso's torch today. His name is Jonas Kaufman who is widely considered to be today's greatest tenor. He has easily filled the shoes of Pavarotti, Carreras and Placido Domingo. These gentlemen have courageously carried that operatic torch that they inherited from the great Caruso. Also check out Mario Lanza from the 1950's who brilliantly followed in Caruso's footsteps. Mario's recordings shine partly because the technological expertise for recording was not present in Caruso's lifetime.
Cindy S. Collins It’s feminazis’ fault.
A new face and voice has appeared in Britain,
Maxwell Thorpe. Gave me chills hearing him sing like I do with Caruso and Domingo.
@@belindawilliams3728. Jonas Kaufman? Come on?!?! Pavarotti and Carreras are too sweet for my taste. They did not inherit anything from Caruso. While Monaco, Corelli and Bjorling were perfect. Their voice technique however was completely different.
@@robynkroetz1311. I have been listening to Gigli for almost 65 years. Gigli was not Caruso. Different voices and characters. Gigli did not replace Caruso in my heart.
