- In this weeks video, we begin the process of installing a moonroof in the 68 Impala fast back! This is a very extensive process using a custom made jig, or dolly. The 44 inch moonroof came out of a 1980 Lincoln Towncar Coupe. After measuring several times, we cut the hole using a jig saw, and then hammer formed the flange to accept the moonroof tub. The moonroof glass will be getting a metal cover, that will be covered in part 2 of this process. Once this process is complete, we will begin body work on the car! Enjoy!

From what I understand, the dolly method is the most correct way to install these. I've actually never seen one. I figured it out by reading between the lines, but when I was first learning- the whole dolly thing was, like, Top-Secret! I would actually love to see the video of how you made it!
Top secret, can't video...lol
Love the work you’ve put in 🤝
Looks like with the pattern you could trace on the roof was the best thing to make it come out perfect.
Still a lot of work but well worth it for sure :-)
And it looks like you passed all of Bobby's inspections............you could hear him welding and grinding in the back round.
I got the frame all welded up. Just doing a little work on the way the bumpers mount
Got a good team there 👍
Great work 👌
Thanks
Nice work fellas
😎😎
Awesome…!!!
Saludos desde Puerto Rico!!!! tremendo trabajo , me preguntaba de que espesor usaron las baretas para construir el "jig"
we made the jig based off the car the moon roof came out of.
Nice
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I’ve got a 64 impala I’m trying to order a driveline like the one you ordered for yours in the past I got a 700 R transmission do you have the part numbers for me if possible and where you got it out
Great work! Is there a bottom part to the jig that clamps on the inside of the car or just the piece you clamped to the top of the roof?
Yes it's a 2 part jig that clamps together to itself
what did you guys have to do to seperate the halo from the roof skin? that's where I'm stuck at now.
It's in the video...
thanks man!! I'm bringing the car to J in a few months... we spoke yesterday, and I basically told him I see this going real bad, real fast!lol so I'll just leave it up to the pros... thanks for responding!!
Yeah you need the jig or dolly to flange the roof. The halo is just pinch welded to the roof skin. Justin is mr 44
Need one for my 69 riviera
Okay 👌.... Soooo if you pull that out of a Lincoln... Can you mend the the roof if the Lincoln? Or are you using a completely destroyed Lincoln? And to bend down the factory flange is genius...
It was a parts car that we got the roof out of
@@lonestarlows solid solid work... That's just awesome!!!
Couldn't u have taken the skin etc from the donor car and just welded it in?
Way more body work
that's what I was going to do to my cadillac, but @justin_askew told me not to...
