  • How I Pack My Kit | Deploying on my last ever exercise!
After many requests, I thought I'd do a video on how I pack my kit for exercise. Event though I'm not deploying in a 'tactical capacity' on this one, it is still largely the same.
Hopefully this helps answer some questions or gives an idea as to how to prepare, or some useful kit.

Join the reserves even though you might not want to then you'll keep the rank and won't have to do basic training......otherwise in a year or two when you start thinking of joining the reserves because you miss it you'll be put off by having to do somw form of basic and starting out as a 1 pip wonder. Just something for the back burner.

No need to put every pair of socks in a separate waterproof bag. Also would be better in the main compartment. No need for spare trousers or shirt. Also boot polish in the field?? Med kit was questionable. Waterproof jacket plus warm layer should be in your daysack. Two Nirexes?

    • @PreparedPathfinder

@@a.s.j.g6229 in 33 years of soldiering, l’ve never changed my trousers in the field, apart from in the jungle. You just don’t have time. My daysack was always carried packed as a grab bag under my top flap, with patrol kit and essentials in. You don’t have time to pack it if you come under contact! One nirex if definitely enough. Boot polishing in the field is for crows, it doesn’t happen after basic training.

They are called canoe bags. One set of 3 you should turn up to basic with. At least one large for burgun, one medium for day/patrol sack, and two small for burgan side pouchs.
But a few small extra ones are nice to separate your dry kit. For extra protection. Just remember to write on all the bags so you tell what's in what. Or better still get different coloured ones, so you can id them much easier in the dark

    Callsign ESSEX?
    Good drills.
Personally I have things like my flashlight, whistle, leatherman, etc on lanyards that are attached to my iLBV (Integrated Load Bearing Vest) so that I can't drop/lose them. The lanyard length just keeps the gubbins off the floor, which is also roughly long enough to have full reach without having to untie it.
Looking forward to seeing what you get up to.

open your eyes chum this is an officers accommodation block not a civilian house ( there are six clear clues to this )and lip balm ?? I take it you have never spent a great deal of time in the tropics or the Artic ??? both environments are quick to destroy the condition of your lips ( I`m A former medic ) with in days your lips will be so bad you will not be able to drink let a lone eat , troops are taught now to use lip balm every day as a preventative not afterwards as a cure

    • @djrxp

Taking a small stick of lip balm vs blistered lips & coldsores ...
If you don't get bad lips, don't take it? If you do, then it's not exactly much of a burden to carry it. Risk vs Reward???
