I mean this in the friendliest way possible, but your comment answered your own question. I think most cheaters do it because they know it will make another person mad and they want the reaction. Sure there are definitely closet cheaters who use it for the advantage, those are the ones you want to really keep an eye out for. The ones who are full blown obvious or aren't really trying to hide it know they will get banned I just think they see it as trolling.

I remember people running lagswitches, wall hacks/aim bots and hacked lobbies on 360. On Blacks Ops 1, I started a game on Firing Range and it was nuts! People (including me) were running at god speed and after the game, I’d gained 10 levels 😮 That was when you could stay in the same lobby but I got out of there quickly lol. I cannot believe that in 2024, it feels as if there’s a cheater in almost every game. You also have pros and streamers cheating, mostly without consequence. SBMM seems to have made the problem worse. I miss the OG Cods but I can’t stop myself, I continue to buy every game in the franchise. 🤦🏼♀️

Just the other day, I was in a warzone lobby where we would literally hit 120+ ping when fighting a specific squad. When we went to the other side of the map, we were mostly fine. Whenever we saw our ping go up? We knew that squad was in a fight.
People still lag switch. It is just very rare now.

Back in halo you didn’t even need to be the first one you could “bridge” host and force it to yourself and stand by. I was a 12yr old interested kid at the time and learned how to do it quickly. You’d need more than the standby button on the modem too. Wish I pursued it with the computer tech side of it (not the cheating) I could work my away around a pc at 12 and can’t even do a simple search anymore 🤣

Halo 3 online used to be amazing, I reached a 5 star general back when I was younger but recently I opened up Halo 3 and I was a level 1.. 😡
Turns out they butchered the level system that most players loved and it took me a LONG TIME to hit 5 star general. Once that reset I quit online gaming, It’s a pointless waste of time. No point in me building up some level just so they can ruin it in 5 years.
That’s my same sentiment. I question every death in cod.
I can’t even play multiplayer games anymore because not only aimbot and wallhacks from dudes who try to hide it, but strikepacks and cronus only cost like $40-100 and more and more people are getting them over the years. I play on pc with a good ol DS4 with the Somy back button. But I have fully switched to Xdefiant lately. Cod has too many problems all over the place.

100% agree. I remember growing up back in the old days too where cheaters were pretty much hated by the entire lobby. I remember I had one guy get me into an infected lobby and as 11 year old me, I was fucking siked and I got into my next match, clipped through the map and just shit on people and the amount of abuse thrown my way made me never cheat again. Now that I'm an adult (ish), I seriously think people who are cheating on a pro level should just get banned from gaming in general. I dont know how that would work but they should be forced to play hello kitty island adventure or animal crossing exclusively for the rest of their life.

Online Gaming has always had some bag of rocks trying to exploit something back then games gave you the option to go Offline and enjoy the game for what it was meant to be ...online has been a big part of gaming since the beginning but the off button was always a option now every game is only online and with social media most people do not play because they love gaming they play hoping to get rich and never work again it's sad because People are gaming for the wrong reasons now gaming saved my life and gave something to do that kept me home safe and out the streets but now it seems like these new players the younger generation is only gaming out of envy and greed people only want to be toxic to get views and I understand gaming attracts the youth but back then real gamers showed up for the LOVE of the game not the dream of money and fame to never work again that's just lazy Game developers should try to bring their focus back into being creative and catching and keeping the attention of the people who generally support them ( real gamers ) not money hungry lazy people who do anything for attention and money but that's my 2 cents

I never understood why people cheat at games and sports. The whole point is the competition. The highest of highs when you win a close and hard fought game and the lowest of lows when victory slips from between your fingers. That's what the love of the game is all about. Not the accolades at the end, but the struggles faced to reach it. Cheating was why i stopped playing siege. For three years I was in the upper echelons of the community, achieving diamond over a dozen times. Yet at the end of my time playing it, my team and I would really only lose to cheaters. I talked with some of these people. Most didn't deny it and could not articulate why it was fun to them. Some even felt bad when confronted. The thing i noticed with cheaters is that often they lack self esteem and need the false appraisal, or they're just sociopathic and enjoy making others miserable.

I played with the top 1000 EU faceit on CSGO.
I got into matches with them if I searched late at night, I generally didn't deserve to be there but I was able to hang with them.
Played with people and against people who went on to be actual pro players.
In regular matchmaking I was getting domed every round by a sketchy guy.
Then over time it started to sink in just how many people were closet cheating.
After befriending and finding out some of these people were in fact using cheats, I just noped out.
Sucks because that's what destroyed my dedication to being competitive at online games.
on cod 4 on 360 we had infection lobbys you could not play ground war it was a toss up if you get a lobby that set you to 11th prestige invisible prestige badge or if they set your exp to -202432402003243290 points making you forever lvl 1 no create a class for you
I was like 13 or 14 when halo 2 came out and definitely tried all the different cheats just because it was fun , there was this one “ zombie glitch” where you would appear to be in one spot but on your screen you’re somewhere else , and as soon as you moved you’d be teleported back to your real body .
So we would do it and keep the real body at your own base on ctf. And your ghost body would be passenger seat of the wart hog, driver would let you out right next to their flag and you get out grab the flag move and you’re teleported to your base
Cheating always existed, it is just so much more accessible now

@@Noobalator Back in the day, modding was not for 1 player to have an advantage over casual players, it was more about the entire lobby having fun and giving gamers a better experience. I will refer to OG mw2, Halo 3, and GTA 5. Modders literally gave casual players like me some of the best gaming experiences in that era that I am thankful for. You wouldn't understand it unless you experienced it yourself.
@T9x610 you really just said "back in the day" and compared mw2 to gta 5. The modded lobbies in mw2 were mainly to hit max prestige and all the cards/emblems. Or pushing past the player limit to TDM games. Or breaking the map barriers. But you're right, I have no idea what it was like back then. Doesn't push past the fact that there were still other modded lobbies out, and that they were in fact a form of cheating.
Same for leaderboards, I remember being Rank 1500 global on Bo3 i was proud of myself , but those dam hackers

Everything about Halo 2 was so real… my young ass got scammed out a a 3 month as well. Deserved bc I took it from a family friends house. Or stole. Only thing he didn’t mention was a standbyers best friend. A Bridger. Someone who could make sure the person with standbye got host every time. Going against it was infuriating
I remember that you got host in Halo 2 by having the best internet connection, generally that’s who got host. We would standby all the time(mostly against cheaters), it was obvious when you were host, your shots just felt cleaner and quicker and everyone else basically had way slower ping, you could really feel it. I remember playing against a hacker one time and him just flying in the air and spinning and hitting everyone through walls in ranked, so we beat him by standbying 😂 gooood times
Such a good point about the 5% and 95% percent. Activision allowed cheating in warzone 1 to the point where ‘oh he’s cheating’ is now just a natural response. People don’t understand the levels of skill and talent in gaming like they are widely understood in professional sports

I modded my OG Xbox to cheat on Halo2, I used to standby and bridge connections too. This was a part of the era, join in or get swallowed like a guppy.
I was still above average in the game taking 1st or 2nd in all local and surrounding area tourneys, the modding was just a different level of fun. Things weren't as serious back then 😅😂
I couldn't fathom the thought of cheating in a game in today's day. As a consistent CS2 player, cheating is destroying our beloved competitive scene and makes me take frequent breaks from all FPS. I won't even touch COD anymore. 😢
I dropped that POS back on Verdansk! I saw where this was headed... Plus, I had a falling out with my teammates. COD had its issues back in the day, but this garbo movement, SBMM and cheating have ruined my desire to ever touch that franchise again!
The mod button on the controller for rapid fire is the only Xbox 360 cheat I can think of.

It is easy to have a bias towards your friends or other people around your age. Don't let them fool you. The facts of the mechanics of how the game behaves do not change just because x, y, or z are the ones playing it.
I had 3 confirmed cheater action taken reports last week on warzone and 2 more on the BO6 beta.
I was very impressed with the speed of the BO6 ones. I wasn't done playing when I got the report that action was taken.
If you see a sus deathcam, report it. If they aren't cheating, then they don't have to worry about anything.
Mass reports leading to banning only happen during big streams because of the exposure and their connections or to real cheaters. Your report isn't going to affect a non cheater.

30 here, and I’m not GREAT but I’m usually top 3 in my lobbies for frags even with toxic SBMM. I get called a cheater barely going positive because what these losers have caused. I wish we could go back to the “They’re just better that p**sy” instead of “They’re cheating, let me spam report them”

I wish I was still naive to it. It made me angry to the point where I got good but yet I still couldn’t tell why I was losing. As I got older I realized they have been cheating this whole time. Gave some relief but took away my drive to get better a bit to be honest.
That's why I never followed professional COD or gaming for that matter. To many people cheat and us that play the game for days on days figuring out the technicalities of the game, have to suffer because players want the win so bad!!! That's why I love watching Call of Shame.
You could cheat on 360, was the modded controller. Most pros are cheaters, most bedroom streamers are also cheaters. Too many people who cheat pretend they are victims and try and call out other cheaters. Sad

This is why “do it on LAN” is a thing.
No more online events, all LAN. Only allowed to use promotion supplied peripherals that are inspected before every game.
I rarely got cheated on halo 3. The only thing on 360 was people getting ip and essentially trying to ddos your ip to kick you off.

I remember 2011 on modern warfare 2 on Xbox…. The CFG lobbies got soooo bad… IW took the servers down for like 2 weeks… and didn’t put it back up until a patch was released… I can genuinely say that for YEARS after that… it was a completely legit game. You didn’t see cheaters on Xbox. EVER. until we got to about 2017.. then new devs started finding other exploits.
I switched to ps3 in 2020 and I still play mw2 to this day… it’s still alive.. I’m on custom firmware so I have the ability to run an anti-cheat script which detects all types of menu from CFG to SPRX & kicks the player upon menu detection.
Ricochet & a lot of these just haven’t covered All of the zero day exploits in their games yet. So the fight continues & cheaters keep coming through the cracks like wack-a-mole.
It will come to a stop… just probably not until the next gen comes out & it starts All over again. New hardware for them to exploit.
