American Dad also has stronger, less one-dimensional characters who can be paired off in any number of ways, and it always works. Definitely a more character, plot-driven show.

I love that, even now, in every big crowd scene there’s always a Lady Bug in there somewhere. Really gives you the feeling that the town is alive and has its own things going on outside of the Smith’s shenanigans.

I feel like all the female characters in American dad are really well written and likable characters, mostly the characters that francine or Stan know, they're always funny and also Jenny

I think both of those instances would count as central female characters, not side characters (even though a lot, if not all of Roger’s personas are side characters in their own right, him being central himself kinda discounts them).
