RVing in South Dakota | Exploring Deadwood with Friends

- This week we continue our cross country Christmas trip to Spearfish, South Dakota and the town of deadwood staying at Elkhorn Ridge RV park.
We meet up with Mike and Lynne again from wandering Wagner’s while camping there. If you have not ever seen their channel check out / wanderingwagners
While we were there, we checked off a few bucket list items, including Mount Rushmore, crazy horse, Devils, Tower, and of course, the town of deadwood.
And on the return trip home, we stopped at wall drug in wall, South Dakota and have to say we were more than impressed with it.

Chuck and Ali, we spent all of last September in South Dakota, and three of those weeks at Elkhorn Ridge Resort. We went to all the places you did, and also took our Bronco 4 wheeling up a trail to the top of Spearfish Mountain with around 30 Jeepers that thought a Bronco would never make it, they were shocked when we came up over the edge to the very top. We try to keep travel days between 300 and 400 miles a day, so we left Florida the third week of August and got back to Florida the second week of October. It was a great trip, we put 5500 miles on the 40' Super C towing the enclosed trailer with the Bronco in it and got 8.5 to 8.9 mpg with the Cummins Diesel. TP

We took our Bronco up a trail to the top of Spierfish Mountain with around 30 Jeeps that thought the Bronco wouldn't make it but did just fine. TP

Quite an impressive trip. I know you traveled 4300 miles and spent 86 hours with the rig running but how many days was the total trip? Trying to figure out how many days I really need to head out there. PS> Winter camping to me is heading to where you live in the winter to escape the snow rather than play in it. LOL.

Hey guys, I’m old as dirt so I know my preferences are different from yours, but have you considered the America the Beautiful card? Somewhere around $80 bucks per year but can pay for itself in no time. Half price at COE campgrounds, which are usually very nice. Not like Champions Run here in Ocala, but very enjoyable none the less…
No we haven’t heard of that. But sounds like something we could definitely use. Thanks for that suggestion as we will look into it now!
