Thank you for your wonderfully enjoyable videos. I live in Southern California, zone 10. I’ve been trying rather unsuccessfully to find a UA-cam channel that focuses on my zone. Rogers Garden has a few but they are not as extensive as your videos. So, I have a request. When describing plants besides noting the lowest zone that a plant can withstand, can you please also note the upper zone? Many thanks for your efforts in providing us with great plant selections!
I love your videos. Always learn so much, and since I just moved to the Northwest Pacific climate, I can use all the help to figure out what grows here. Thank you!
Thank you for recommending the sweetbox shrub. It sounds like it will work perfectly for what we need. I considered the daphne, but found that they are highly poisonous and should not be used if you have pets or children. I wish plant labels would include this information. Love your channel.
Debbie, I love the way you teach me about plants. I plan to find a few of the Winter blooming Daphne to place in my bed with Hellebores and coral bells. They will be a nice addition. Thank you, and Happy Spring 🤗
My Daphne is blooming. Its leaves had a few brown spots that scared me, so I added hydrogen peroxide to my water and gave it a good watering. The spots went away.
Great video! I live way out east of Portland, OR, in nursery country. I have had great success with winter Daphne at 2 different homes near my front porch, which were both on the north side of my house but very open shade. Never really dry in these areas but did not do anything special to the hole when planting. They thrive and get huge, with loads of blooms! Heavenly scent!
Hi I΄m Romina from Athens Greece. Love your channel. It will be most helpful to be able to see the names of the plants on the screen in order to be easier for us to search for the right plant Thank you
💐🌸🌻 What a great video. Thank you! I saved this video to my "must haves." I would definitely like to plant some of these in my garden this Spring. Evergreens with beautiful flowering blooms and fragrance... Amazing! 🌼💐🌸
Thank you so much for sharing. My hubby and I plan on doing some landscaping this spring, and we are looking for some beautiful aromatic shrubs. Also, I truly love your knowledge and wholesome spirit. I appreciate you beloved. 💚🌱
My daphne got a little leggy so I decided to prune a bit to see if I could make it bush out more on the bottom. The pieces I cut off, I decided to root in water along with some potato vine...and surprisingly enough...they are pushing out new growth. Hope I can plant them and they will help. Always worth a try!
Daphne is high on my list, possibly because I killed several before being successful with them!! My 2 are abt 20 yrs old, evergreen, variegated, shiny leaves, lovely fragrance!
awesome how many can you put together as a border mix and match for color ....i want ideas for under the window by the front entrance ...and tree ??? where to buy them in texas
I'm in the UK, and adore daphes. However, I find that Daphne dislike being moved, or heavily pruned. They can also be hard to propagate and are fairly slow growing, hence expensive to purchase. So be sure to plant the Daphne where you want it to remain longterm, and give it room. They are indeed stunning evergreens, with the most amazing fragrance. I also have several of the Sarcococca Confusa (Sweetbox) which I agree are also brilliant - great in shade, fairly fast growing, easy to clip to a nice shape after flowering, and again with a fantastic scent.
I had a Daphne in my Virginia Beach garden, which scented half my street.. It was 10-12 years old, grew to 4' high and 6' across, and during blooming it began to loose leaves, then sprigs then branches and in 2 months it was gone.
Good morning. 🙂 Thank you for posting, just in time for my morning coffee. Loved all the plants 💜💜 By the way, in what zone you're gardening? Some of these plants won't survive in my climate (zone 5 gardener here). (Also, I'm apologising of my bad spelling, English is not my main language). Greetings from Europe! 🌸🌸🌸
I had just spent over 500 dollars up in Silverdale. Then I had to return to AZ for a family death. Which will keep me in AZ for months. My plants and weeding will probably be as if I had never been there.
Love this video! just in time for me. Could you please please pretty please explain the following? If your zone is equal to or higher than the zone listed for the plant, it will be hardy for you and thrive in your climate. I am looking at a shrub for zone 7; I am in zone 9b; according to the above it's saying the shrub will be good for my 9b zone, but I am not sure. Thanks for this list you presented today. I will be ordering some of these plants soon. Sooner if I get your response that's for sure.🌺🌹🍒🌷
Without knowing the name of the shrub hard to know. You can Google the name and find the information telling you what zones the shrub can grow in. There is usually a range from the coldest zone to the warmest that the plant can tolerate. Finding out where it's native home is gives you an idea what it prefers as well.
Do you think it would be possible to create a mixed hedge with sweet box in the shadiest areas, daphne in the part sun, and viburnum in the sunny areas? I have shady corners moving to full sun in the middle of the property line seperating myself from my neighbor who has stinky stinky dogs. I want to create an evergreen hedge of fragrant plants with summer blooming fragrant perennials and annuals. I love in zone 8b
Hi, I just found your channel and I just Subscribed. I’m also new to gardening, this might be a silly question but do you have a video to explain the difference of Perennials and Annuals? My 1st year in our new home I went crazy with buying plants but I planted them in pots, however I did loose a lot of plants due to the TX freeze. Right now I’m experimenting with seeds, and I think I, doing good with that but I would like to plants some plants that will come back the following season.
No need for a video. Annuals you have to replant every year due to dying back at the end of the growing season. Perennials however come back year after year and are a good investment for the garden or containers. So sorry to hear of the deep freeze. It just means you can experiment with some new plants! All the best. :)
I have an evergreen viburnum, but suddenly a lot of the leaves are turning brown and dry. I wonder whether it has some kind of fungi. Do I need to dig it out and replace. If so do I need to replace the soil too.
When you say it’s good thru zone 6, does that mean it’s ok for zone 8. I’m in Texas 50 mi. south Dallas. Lots of shade but west side some sun. 40 ft live oaks in front facing NW. would love to have the 2 evergreen shrubs!
Do you mean that once the Daphne is established in a pot that pot should not be moved? Do I need to shelter the potted Daphne in the winter? Coldest temps here at around 22* at night in the winter and we get snow 3 or 4 times a year.
watching you is dangerous my garden is not big enough for all of these beauties :D
I'm going to give Daphne a go, but if it wants to live it's going to have to put in the work.
Saying hi from England. Love your videos and your enthusiasm. Thank you :)
I can't wait for your Daphne video!
Love your channel. You explain things so well.
Looking forward to you covering crape myrtles! Thank you for this video :)
I wish I lived by your nursery. I bet it’s a place I would visit often. Thanks for another great informative video.
Very good mdam🌷
Thank you for writing these down in the description area :-)
Daphne has been my most favorite plant since I was little....nothing smells like it...ever....🥰
Well, hello in 2021! From Canada zone 6b Toronto. Info is exactly what I want to know about a plant -and with some chuckles and humour. Just right!

Rhodos, camellias, daphnes, and plenty of bulbs. You’ll love it here!
You are a sweet person, you are subscribed. Good luck 👍

I would love to see more plants in this category! I loved this video!
Wonderful videos! Thank you!!

I wish I had your knowledge. But then again I always have your channel to turn to. Keep it up. Thanks, The Garden Noob
I planted Daphne this year. Excited to see what 2024 will bring. Mine is near my front porch.
My Daphne is blooming. Its leaves had a few brown spots that scared me, so I added hydrogen peroxide to my water and gave it a good watering. The spots went away.
I’m so excited for the warmer weather and yes I’m super excited to get planting.
Looking forward to learning about growing crepe myrtles here in the pnw.
Love your channel..I live on Vancouver Island so it’s great to have the same zone info 👏👏🇨🇦...I live in Cassidy...lol

Beautiful shrubs❤️

Lovely would any of these fragrant plants grow in the tropics
3 shubs i gotta have now! Thanks

These are great options. I need more options other than tea olive and gardenia.
Daphne, sweetbox, some newer osmanthus cultivars are great.
Would you have a video on plumbago? I am about to buy one 🙂

My daphne is in year 3 and smells amazing. I read that they are short lived however, hoping mine lives forever! I’m getting a camellia next!

I agree, I’m in zone 5B. Gets very very cold and super hot in my zone.
@@kkazzo2665 Exactly. Same conditions here.
Daphne are so fragrant , they are one of my favorite. The problem is that the plant would just die for no reason, which is such a pity.
Love that golden plant behind you. What’s that beautiful variegated shrub?
Euonymous Aurea marginata! :)
Thank you very much from Stonecrest GA, Zone 8a. Hope that golden beauty will work for my garden.
Looks like I’m up late for a reason. 🤣❤️
What is your nursery url? Great vids!
Sunnycrestnursery.com Thank you!
I had just spent over 500 dollars up in Silverdale. Then I had to return to AZ for a family death. Which will keep me in AZ for months. My plants and weeding will probably be as if I had never been there.
SUMMER dafnes...Part shade area in Walnut Creek Calif. Recommendations? I have had great success with my spring dafne here by my porch.
Was that a Ceanothus - Zanzibar behind you during this video, with the variegated leaf over your left shoulder?
I was wondering myself what it was called. 👍🏼
can my Eternal Daphne do well in pots???
when you open your on-line store will we be order? Thanks for your response.

@@GardenStylenw ; it is lemony lace. I really want this plant but is zone 7. Will it be good in zone 9b?
I bin wondering what the name of that little bush was for years. I
One Blume cluster will perfume my kitchen. I need some of these in my yard

Is there a Daphne that will do well in a rock garden spread out rather then up. And if there is where could I buy one?
Great video. Can you plant any of those in pots? Thank you
Yes! They do great in pots.
What is the name of the bush just to your left? With the varigated leaf? The one that you already have planted..
Euonymous aurea marginata. I know isn't it stunning? :)

What would you recommend as far as planting fragrant things together or spacing them throughout the garden?
Good question :-)
I live in Phoenix Arizona. Of course it gets very hot. If I kept this in afternoon shade/morning sun would it survive?
Depends on what zone your in.
I live in zone 5. What would live in my region?? It gets very cold here 🥶
😊
If I must plant my Daphne in a pot, can it take moving from one place to another......or...is it sensitive to a change of place?
They don't like being moved once established.
