The iFi gear is really underrated, and I don't really know why. Now they have audio gear at pretty much every price level and size. I recently got to try the SMSL D400 Pro and its one of the best DACs I have heard, I'll have to try the SMSL SU-X.
I will not buy anything but Ifi for headphones & iems. Got the neo idsd 2, xdsd Gryphon, and Go bar. Plays my Hifiman He1000se and Sound Rhyme DTE900 very good 😊
Hi, I have the Fiio K19 and have had the DX9 for a few days. I liked the dx9 for its analogue tone and it is also beautiful from a construction point of view, but personally I prefer the k19 because a more neutral and incisive presentation is more to my taste. I would like to ask you if in your experience you found them with a good soundstage, because from this point of view I found them quite flat, I used them with an hd490 pro whereas from this point of view I found a l aune s9c better. and what headphones did you use them with?
@@BluesMan90 I liked the K19 more on Rock and Metal genre's as it had a little more punch and slam with its THX AAA 788+ amp section. I only returned the K19 because the optical connection was having issues cutting out when gaming and watching movies. It also got pretty hot in the Horizontal position. I'd still recommend the K19 for a desktop AIO but I'm happy with the DX9 as my desktop AIO. It's much nicer looking first off, and I have zero technical issues when gaming and watching movies. As far as Soundstage goes I think they are pretty equal. I've found that a headphone is what gives you the Soundstage stuff more than the gear. I have a Hifiman HE1000 Stealth V4 and it has some nice Soundstage with music and gaming. My other main headphone is the ZMF Atrium which I mainly use with Tube Amps because they give the Atrium a little more punch and slam, better Bass. Tbh, this hobby is all about experimenting and trying to find that synergy that YOU like. Not what others like or what some measurements' graphs and charts try to tell you what you should like and what's better. It's all subjective and everyone's hearing is different. Another headphone I have and like is the Senn HD560s. It's a great value and is as good as anything in that HD600/650/6XX lineup
@@BluesMan90 I like the K19 for Hard Rock and Metal as the THX AAA 788+ Amp portion brought some nice slam to the music. i would assume either brickwall or FL4 minimum phase fast roll off with the fast roll-off so the sound doesn’t linger as much for more precision. I don’t think it makes that big of a difference but logically speaking probably cleanest and quickest sound
I'm looking for a small form factor amplifier with a built in DAC to be used with a computer streaming Tidal Hifi. So the budget is approx $500 and I would like as good sound quality as possible. Any recommendations?
quality of dac amp can effect the detail and soundstage, there are really good dongle dacs though that close the gap on sound quality like the ifi go bar kensei. Power is a pretty easy metric to meet for iem
Which is the cheapest dac amp that wouldn't cripple the hifiman edition xs? I am paralized and I hear a lot of these are good, but I have heard not all of them can handle the edition xs.
