Played this game as much as I could as a kid in the late 90's, soundtrack still holds up as probably the best game soundtrack of all time (in my opinion). Get's you PUMPED!
I like how it has a similar style and feel to Quake 1's Theme and Soundtrack in some ways, especially noticeable with the distorted Guitar that starts at 0:14.
For a song with the title stealth in it, it certainly doesn't sound like anything like it. In fact this sounds like something that'd play in the background as you traverse through a ruined city in the amidst of an alien invasion.
Tekken 3 - Jins ending cutscene uses some of the same samples as this song. Both games were released in 1997. Specifically 0:00 is also used in jins ending at 0:00 and at 0:25 is used in Jins ending at 2:06 Jins ending cutscene for reference: ua-cam.com/video/1O-G5rtIGkY/v-deo.html
I've heard that sound from the beginning of the song in many old horror/thriller B movies. I just wonder if they stole it from Quake, or it predates Quake and in this case is part of some sort of free sounds library.
this game has some of the best soundtrack of all times
the most underrated of the entire soundtrack, yet in my opinion, the best one
This is how the the first stage starts in the PS version. With this track.
@@Cerberus101-p5n yep i played ps version first, and this song was the best hook for such a masterpiece
One of my faves , along with Descent into Cerberon and Pressure Point
The intro was used in Half Life and Postal 1
Yooo
Yeah, many songs from videogames of this era were created using "generic" samples that you could buy and use, free of royalties...
When i listen that part in Half Life ost, was awesome back memory
And in Burnout 3: Takedown.
Symphonic adventures

Goes good with any ultra violent science fiction.
Best Quake II track!
The music when you start playing in the PS1 version.

that distorted guitar is great
Look up Trent Reznor - Driver Down (from Lost Highway soundtrack) and you'll know exactly where they got this from.
god this game was good. The music today is one of the best soundtracks ever made.
So it begins with HL music ambience

In Q2 a stealthy frag is when you use a silencer and rail gun to kill unaware Strogg. To me this music works for that kind of combat.
this soundtrack rocks my gameplay
0:00 When you start the game
Good ol' PSX version
0:11 that piano sound
1:20 i just love this part
This intro was used in half life 2 route canal level
And HL1
Этот саундтрек, как будто создан для спецназа
Trent is such a beast!
This isn't Trent though. It's Sonic Mayhem.
the beginning sounds oddly familiar, but I can't for the (half) life of me figure out why...
Adrenaline guitare :)
Perfect track for the swamps of Stroggos.
With this song my body don't fear from the DEATH
glad this game got a re release :D been playing it on xbox and playstation
Br0leg brought me here
Same. Literally joined his Discord just to ask for the song's name, then left.
Me to
what a track
The best track to start the game with. It happens only on PS1.

Half-Life also uses the same sample I've noticed too.

@ObsidianDeville 100% it's from a sound library
@@bonbon3215 Most likely. I still find it emblematic.
So simple, yet so BAD ASS!
Best game and tracks

I played the entirety of Quake 2, where does this play? Is it a multiplayer track?
It's from an extension from the original game: "The reckoning"
1st level of the ps1 version
