Why not? Listen to your body and only stretch as far YOU can. Be happy with whatever progress you make but never satisfied. Challenge yourself to continuously make small improvements and eventually, maybe one day you will see that you are approaching this master's skill

if you've hit a plataeu try taking a week off all together and switching your focus to developing strength in the stretched positions and throughout the entire range of movement such as holding a stretch against resistance or with weights. (example: chair splits or chair splits with weight)

It's not how long you stretch, it's how often and what method(s) you use and how you recover, eat, rest, etc... 1 hour every day could be too much.

I think the slapping is to shake the muscles & promote blood flow to those areas. Also you should be relaxed when stretching, a relaxed muscle will shake when slapped.

stretching has great health benefits for people of all ages. If flexibility is developed at a young age it is easier to maintain. Many stretches in this video are too advanced for beginners that do not stretch often or are not in excellent condition.

You can learn to imitate but to truly learn you need someone that understands to watch, correct and guide you.

Jajaj dont worry , what i said in my comment was that i am amazed at the flexibility and mastery of this taekwondo sensei ( i know it's a japanese term but i dont know how to say it in korean ) . I am an ashihara karate and hajime dachi practicioner and aside the fact taekwondo is not japanese i want to congratulate this master with a deep Osu!!!

Yes. Find a good teacher. Research PNF stretching. Get books by Pavel Tatsouline, and another called the Genious of Flexibility. Drink lots of water, stretch in the morning after cardio or strength exercises. Hold stretches for 10-30 seconds, multiple sets. Strengthen and stretch opposing muscles. Use tension throughout the stretch, do not bounce and listen to your body.

Use Tom Kurtz's stretching methods, I could do frontsplits in 3 months, it would have been faster if I used his method earlier though. You'll be able to do it without warm up.

Not mention you need the one-on-one physical contact to learn self-defense and sparring. You can't learn to fight without a training partner or simply getting into a lot of fights. Start asking around at local YMCAs Healthclubs etc.. you'll find an instructor eventually.

I was doing this as he did it... but then I got to 4:25 and they started skipping the other leg and I lost myself. This is an awesome stretching exercise though.
