In my headcanon dai Grapher along the split path was in turn split into all of his paths. Each time he had to choose he was split apart. When he sees himself it's not like those versions disappeared. They are corporeal and all together real.
And the effect of lvl8 is basically a complete counter to D.D. Warrior Lady, which means that after all he went through he finally got the strength he needed to finally defeat her. But at what cost?
Can we appreciate this man for all the lore videos he's done? I find these so cool and interesting and would have never know about them if it weren't for guys like like him. Hope he keeps up the good work.
Just to add on, Warrior Dai Grepher is also Dark Blade once he equips the metalsilver armor and takes the dual swords from the armoury, he has another a few dragons in this form as well, Pitch Dark, and Kiryu as well as the fusion “Dark Blade the Dragon Knight” and also becoming a captain of the underworld as “Dark Blade Captain of the Underworld”. So that adds a whole level to his lore.

With paths of destiny I interpreted it as grepher going down right to find the chamber and the left he becomes dark grepher since the left seemed dark and sinister while the right was holy and righteous looking
It's funny because none of this cards can beat dd warrior lady un battle even in the game, because she just banishes them/sends them to another dimension
Dark Lucius lv8 counters her, because he also banish the monster he destroys and negate their effect. Which signifies he eventually did crack the dimension travel thing and is even more knowledgeable than dd lady. But at the cost of everything else

How would I amend “Ryu Senshi” to be more viable today? 1:28 How about… _Ryu Grepher, Spirit Warrior_ (EARTH) Level 6 Warrior/Fusion/Effect 1 “Grepher” monster + “Spirit Ryu” You can also special summon this card by banishing the above cards from your hand or field (this is treated as a fusion summon). When a Spell or Trap card is activated while this card is face-up on the field (Quick Effect), you can pay pay half your LP; negate that effect. When during the battle step, if this card battles (Quick Effect), you can discard 1 Dragon and/or Warrior monster each, then choose one of the following effects depending on the type of monster(s) discarded for this effect: Dragon: This card gains 1000 ATK/DEF until the end of the battle phase. Warrior: You can equip 1 Equip spell card to this monster from your hand or deck. ATK/2700 DEF/2600 (the combined sum of its classic materials ATK/DEF respectively)
I feel bad for Grepher's grim fate. Why do I address it as such as though it is canon? How much time you got? It seems Grepher's dark path is the canon one. Or at least for me; all things considered. My only evidence is the video itself. His Light Path is nice. He fused with a ghost dragon. Badass...And? Then what? What happens next?! Does he finally make it home? Does the ship happen? Does he genuinely hook up with DD Lady? Do they go about kicking butt as The DD Couple (I genuinely wish that was a card because it makes me chuckle and is a nice thought)? Does Ryu Senshi end up in a dark alley with DD Buster Blader? There's nothing! Unless they go back and add to it, his story ends there. A cool warrior in a different dimension going on miscellaneous adventures. Now his Dark Path. There is straight up more story, for starters. To summarize the critical moments: Grepher, unknowingly, meets his future self, Dark Lucius. Later, Grepher meets Dark Grepher. Who is Dark Grepher? We aren't told, but I will revisit this point later too. The Wicked-Breaking Flamberge corrupts Grepher into Dark Lucius. Dark Lucius then falls even farther into darkness and essentially becomes a true demon. Okay. I have no evidence for this, but I wouldn't be surprised if Dark Grepher is actually a defused Ryu Senshi. Given Grepher's abysmal luck with tragedy and evidence of him meeting his alternate selves; I wouldn't be shocked to discover that Grepher fell to evil after losing Spirit Ryu by seeking a way to reclaim that power only for it to unfortunately be from a malevolent source this time. Maybe he tried to commune with Spirit Ryu, but was possessed by an evil dragon spirit instead? It would also explain why Dark Grepher sacrificed himself as there was still a lingering heroic spirit in him. Like what I did there? Inevitably, Grepher ends up becoming Dark Lucius and is more powerful than either form, but...his story also is cut short. Does he finally destroy DD Lady? Does DD Lady put an end to his cursed existence once and for all? Does she actually free Grepher from Dark Lucius and they banish the darkness together for good? Is there anything even left of Grepher (on his most advanced dark transformation) to remember who she is? Is Dark Lucius just running amok in a different Different Dimension? While his Light Path and Dark Path are both incomplete, I am far more inclined to believe his Dark Path is the canon one as not only does that version of Grepher NEVER encounter his Light Path Self, he encounters TWO DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF HIS DARK PATH SELF (Grepher meets Dark Grepher and Dark Lucius, but never Ryu Senshi). Lastly, we have objectively more details about his life on the Dark Path. His Light Path is basically "...and Ryu Senshi went to and fro, wiping out evil wherever it appeared and slayed happily ever after. The end." While his Dark Path is like "Greetings. Please, get comfy. Allow me to tell you The Odyssey of Warrior Dai Grepher."

I loved Grepher's design even before he debuted on the show and was glad to find out there was a lot more to his story. Despite him being a consistent underdog/loser, having so many interdimensional adventures and spawning so many alternate counterparts mean unlike most other monsters, you can pick your favourite timeline as his "true" ending, which I think is quite cool. I like the notion of him being good-natured at heart but ultimately reckless and stubborn to the point where he's constantly in the wrong place at the wrong time, almost always fighting for the sake of it and degrades so much that there's not one, but _several_ bad outcomes. However unlike Ha Des(the best-dressed jobber in monster history), he has _three_ decent paths to follow. The idea that he isn't beyond redemption or destined to fail in _every_ timeline makes him even more interesting, and offers great potential for future card art. I completed a Gurimo character deck earlier this year, and instead of Dai Grepher x3, I run 1 alongside 1 Chaos Grepher and 1 Dark Grepher. Shame I can't really justify any other counterparts, but he's featured on a lot more S/T's than I knew, might have to side a couple in. Very chuffed to have bumped into this vid, the Dai has a cool design, neat lore and is sorely underrated. Great to see lore throwbacks to some of the classics, Warriors pretty much started ongoing art lore so this was an excellent choice.

If your opponent destroys or banishes this card equipped with “Wicked-Breaking Flamberge - Baou”, you can special summon (from your hand or deck) 1 “Grepher” or “LV” monster._
ATK/1700 DEF/1600
Ok, so that should sum up the general story beats and dragon manipulation powers this card is supposed to have. The card can search, summon and fuse with Dragon and wyrm monsters (most wyrm monsters are basically dragons in all but type and effects anyway, you can’t tell me True King of Calamity _isn’t_ a straight up dragon) and also cards the original Dai has been retrained as (along with a blanket compatibility for LV monsters who would appreciate the surprise support.). The only things I couldn’t really fit any neatly in are anything related to “Warrior Lady of the Wasteland” / “D.D. Warrior Lady”, and a bunch of cards with Dai and it’s many versions in their artwork that didn’t have a keyword to share besides the three “Dai” cards… Unless I tie such effects to said cards artworks, but I don’t think ANY card in the game does something like that. Like the game needs THAT can of worms opened anytime soon.
Meeting your past self from a divergent timeline is the coolest shit ever.
I love that in all these years there is actually a story to these cards xd
I always thought that grepher is dark blade and paladin of the white dragon as well
Good videos 👍
Nah, Dark Blade along with the Dark Dragon actually have their own storyline.
World Legacy is still the best one to me, and the Goblin one us good too.
Plot twist: Dark Grepher didn't actually die and he became the Dark Blade.
Recognizing a card from your childhood on one of these videos is always a nostalga trip, great stuff
Isn’t he also Dark Blade since he used to manipulate dragons?
different dragon manipulators, dark blade is part of the Dark World universe iirc
I think so, might also be the paladin that rides the baby blue eyes depending on what armour he wears. Him and warrior zera have a crazy amount of story paths
"I use the power of.."
Them: the heart of the cards?
This guy: Consistent storytelling
Wow all this time its all connected. I always wonder how d.d. lady met dai grepher from all those encounters.
3:26 reminds me so much of the Angelo boss enemy in Devil May Cry
I subbed cause explaining the cards in story like this is so cool!
I absolutely love Yu-Gi-Oh lore like this could've been a whole ass series it would be cool if got an anime and every episode the go through different lore of different archetypes kinda like marvel what if
I know I used to have some of these cards! Only two or three! But I never know they’re all connected!! Well done sir!
I have him and the dark path version as well as the trap card with the diverging paths, they used to be in my deck years ago before I got better cards.
Me at the beginning: I don't play yugioh so why am I getting a yugioh recommendation?
Me at the end: THIS IS AWESOME
Thanks for the lore, Warrior Dai Grepher was my favorite card to use back in high school.
I use most of these cards as I play through the years, I never would have imagine that there's a lore to them to begin with.
Love the Yu-Gi-Oh lore videos
Holy shit i didn't know dai grepher got this sort of lore.
Ima check out my old cards and see if i can see some easter eggs and cameo of characters around.
I would totally read this manga or watch this anime! There's actually really good character development in these cards!
This sounds like a great plot for a video game!
But still I had it since 2007 and thx for the details of this lore and connections of each image from all of those cards.
My man really needed his own anime huh
He was one of my favourite cards by didn't know it has so much lore
I'm fucking mind blown right now cause I literally had all of these cards and was wondering why exactly these two r on so many prints, I didn't now they have actually story's , makes it so much cooler in my 30s
Daamn this lore really make sense
This would make a dope movie
Bruh, I had a couple of these cards for years and now learning there's lore, I want to get them all 😩
I was so unprepared to hear lake verity at the beginning of the vid. Insta like for the nostalgia. Also good job on the video. I had no clue that this card had lore.
Now you, Sir, got me inside of this rabbit hole. Now I need to watch every lore videos 😂
Who need the super common trap card Suzuki amor was part of lore. Did t expect him to fall at the end
I wanna do a dungeons & dragons campaign based on dai grephers story, I was making character sheets for other monster cards as usable character and some stats for some monsters and bosses you have to fight but that's as far I got
Wow, I didn’t know there was such heavy sub-lore in YuGiOh.
Very interesting I never noticed the baou sword on morale boss or that sakuretsu armor was him. Let alone dark Lucius and I own those cards lol
It feels Nostalgic for me this Yu-Gi-Oh cards collection since in Elementary.
Dai Grepher connects to Lady, which connects to Plundering Captain, which connects to both Gagagigo and the charmers, as well as to D.D.,which connects to D/D/D.
So D/D/D Super Doom Kong Purple Armageddon are in the same universe as cowboy hat lady in wasteland.
Y'know, it'd be cool if Dai Grepher became the next host for the Super Soldier Armor
I don't know how I got recommended this. I think Hulu told UA-cam I watched some episodes of the first yugioh, and so it said, " Hey, I'll show him card lore." Either way, that went so deep.
Me, new to this channel:
There's... there's lore to these...?
Nice lol. Own most of those cards and didn't think about it.
Dude you aware that this video is used as an ad on UA-cam
huhhh!?
I'm hooked on these but can't be bothered to watch the solo duel scenarios in masterduel lol
Stuff like this is why I feel they should try making an anime just based on the lore within the cards themselves.
Yep.
I never really looked at power of the guardians art omg its those weapons lol I really should be observing card arts more often...
I have Sakuretsu Armor! I had no idea that was Dai Grepher.
I'm kind of disappointed he has no timeline lore on him using the butterfly dagger or the Starlight bow that would have been actually really cool to see. But I really love it when cards tell stories
Dark luscious looks like berserk reference. Even the armor resembles the berserk armor
Holy SHIT. I LOVE Yu-Gi-Oh card LORE!!!!!
Power of guardian good. Sakaretsu armor is nice
Shout out to DD lady for taking no Ls!😂
Damn, I can see some of the inspiration from Berserk with this lore.
Across Dai Grepher multiverse, Daiverse
Wether it’s accurate or not this was fire and makes sense some of y’all saying y’all head canons have hell plot holes
I tried to complete his lore build many years ago. I could not. Thank you for uploading this.
Dai gepher need a retrain that links to its lore it has the opposite to gearfried like every equip cards increases it power or can copy the equips effect or similar to criteas where it can fuses with equip cards and monster types to create a new dai gepher. Some one mentioned every decision is him just splitting and both paths are cannon. Ultimate fusion is dai gepher the chosen who can summon other dai gepher monsters
Never realized Dai Grepher was connected to Saku. Mind = blown 😂😂
More more MORE I need more lore this man is doing God's work lol
This is really cool.
Wtf I didnt realize this whole number of cards forms a lore
Is it even possible to make a deck out of these videos that would be so cool
I Have No Idea A Simple Cards Game Has A Complicated Lore
Please do more of these videos because they are amazing
I don't know why I expected Dai Grepher and DD warrior lady to make up and fall in love.
Dai Grepher is literally Guts in Yu Gi Oh
And just as attractive too
Paradoxical Grepher
EARTH Psychic Link-2 (SW SE) 2000 ATK
2 “Dark Lucius” or Grepher” monsters
Gains the Attributes and Types of the Link Materials used to Link Summon this monster.
This monster gains 100 ATK for each Type and Attribute it has, and an additional attack on monsters for each card it points to.
Dai is underrated AF.
Sakuretsu Armor is one of my fav card so this is really freakin cool
Also I m a sucker for a "Enemy turned lover" cliche so kinda hope that happened lmao
