Anyone who can and might be able to kill him ends up mulched or blown up through a hail of bolter, plasma, rpg's, and lascannon fire. And the only one he knew who can defeat him fair and square are his brothers.😔
Avitus lost everything he believed in. If he was in a Chapter with a nobler origin (almost anyone) and a Chapter Master WHO WAS NOT EVIL then Avitus would not have fallen. All he wanted was to fight and kill for a cause, and doing so "for a Primarch we don't know" and "our leaders are idiots" and "desh ish chaptain Diomedesh." Never settled for him. Despite hating everyone, he actually cared the most.
He still would have ‘fallen’ because it wasn’t specifically the Blood Ravens that drive him to it. It was realizing the truth of the imperium and his ‘life’ as a weapon of war. Such a sensitive and abused soul, no matter how hidden under layers of rage, could never not eventually realize
I spent this whole game determined that I was going to make Avitus the traitor because I never liked him. Only once he became the traitor and I was forced to kill him did I actually start to like him as a character. Go figure.
Avitus woke up from the lies of the universe, especially after starting a Games Workshop collection and finding out the price of a single devastator squad
I personally find Avitus to be the second most sympathetic traitor, after Thaddeus (not counting Jonah obviously). The simple fact is that he's right. He's the only one who is willing to see the grim truths of the universe he lives in.
The funny thing is that even though it sounds like Avitus' voice actor playing the altered voice of the hidden traitor, it is clearly a different take than when he played Avitus saying those same lines.
Cyrus is also pretty reasonable, he's as serious as Avitus, just less of an asshole. It's hard to pick which person had the most sympathetic conversion, they each have sensible reasons for turning to chaos. If I HAD to choose one, I'd say Martellus is my least sympathetic, he was solely self-preservation minded; both Tarkus and Thaddeus turned for altruistic reasons, they are my most sympathised. Cyrus and Avitus turned because of cynicism with the way things are, both sensible.
@@thescribeinyellow3985 And the secrets of the scriptor protection ritual of blood ravens being leaked to the forces of chaos which in turn made it really easy for the Daemon to attack him when his barriers were down.
martellus was left to die in hostile territory for a year and then eliphas and kyras came to his rescue. i can symphatise somehow. but he does go all out with vengeance unlike all the other traitors indeed
Avitus is pretty bad-ass for a sergeant. In a way I'm glad his betrayal was canon as it was the coolest of the five. For anyone wondering why his is most likely the canon one it's because in DOW II: Retribution Tarkus does say he slew someone who fought alongside him on Kronus; Avitus and Tarkus are the only one thats served together on Kronus. Avitus is not referred to by name but Thaddeus was not on Kronus and Cyrus is alive and well in Retribution along with Martellus.
avitus in my opinion had the best role as traitor (out of the good guys) he wasn't over emotional and straight to the point. When playing the part as the traitor it was written well with his whole personality taken into account. "HOW COULD HE BETRAY US? -WHY?!- AVITUS WHY?!?!" quite funny.
Because he's sick of killing and all the bullshit of the 41st millennium. Turning traitor was the only way to make his brothers see the corruption in the Chapter.
@Extraintrovert he joined Chaos because he's tired of the Chapters lies and at least [in his mind] chaos is honestly evil; while the Chapter covers up their bloodlust with 'honour' and 'duty'. "I can't take it any longer!"
So the hardened, honorable and noble warrior finally snapped to the horrors of the WH40K universe and became a bloodthirsty, nihilistic traitor? Why am i not surprised?
You know, admittedly he did sort of have a couple of heretical sounding moments in the first game. He mocked the fact that the Raven's have an Unknown Primarch.
Avitus didn't betray them so much for his own selfish reasons, it was more because he felt as though all they had done had been in vain or lies unlike some of the others he actually felt bad for those he killed. they could do it without a second thought because they thought it was for the noblest service of the chapter and the Emperor. Avitus thought that there chapter was doomed anyway so between the corruption and their own thinning ranks it was all pointless.......
@TriforceOmega yeah the original muffled transmission sounds like it's Avitus's voice. The funny thing is though, even if it is, after listening to Avitus say the lines here and the lines as they were first revealed in that disguised voice, they have a different inflection: so it still wasn't this actual line.
This was what I got for goofing around with the corruption mechanic. i had a couple of "Redemption Items" that could be used to reduce corruption. I Kept thinking I could use them as soon as I reached orbit over Aurelia. Ugh... probably wouldn't have made a difference anyway. I think he would have still had more than anyone else in my teams anyway.
@BaldurandVali I meant you dont know what happens to Thaddeus, the FC is nothing more then mentioned in a couple pieces of wargear, but I DO know that the ending was either fly into eye of terror or Gabriel kills him, since a good ending would mean martellus joined chaos but he isnt in Ret, and you got tarkus and Cyrus as well as davian in Ret, My theory is that Thaddeus was the traitor, since Tarkus said HE killed a close friend, so after Thaddeus died, Avitus slowly got corrupted
@BaldurandVali It honours the deeds the hammer has done, the FC does betray to chaos or gabriel kills him, either one, correct about avitus, but what happens to Thaddeus, maybe in next addon?
The planet is being affected by the Warp. In a sense, is it dematerializing as reality and unreality meshing together. Concept, matter and emotion fusing into something incomprehensible to the human minds.
Cyrus called Gabriel Angelos and Eliphas incompetent. He does not know what he's talking about. I agree with you on Martellus, though, since no one gives two fucks about him, and you really aren't responsible for what happened.
@necrontyr1800 Hammer of the Nameless, in honour of the leader of the heros of Aurlliea whose silient fortitude destroyed the Tyrnids and Chaos rot. More or less the description. Basiclly why would they honour a traitor? They wouldnt. So he's off doing something else in retribuiton. Avitus turned to chaos as Tarkus said and was killed by Tarkus(And everyone else), and Thaddeus just fell off the face of the galaxy.
playing retribution, you learn the commander you play as in CR is killed by tarkus, cyrus is in retribution as well as tarkus and jonah orion, martellus and cyrus, so either thaddeus or Avitus have turned to Chaos in the actual story line
I can understand that avitus had no choice to betray the blood ravens because of our chapter from the krous campaign I shall honour him as a battle bother I find it was hard to kill him thanks to the black legion 😒
Necrontyr Gaming Tarkus did not kill FC, because FC was not present during Dark Crusade, which he clearly says that the traitor was there and the only other seargant that was there is Avitus.
Avitus understood the reality of Warhammer 40k, and it consumed him in despair
An icon of dispair! AAAAYYYYE
He peered into the future and saw Dawn of War 3
Avitus talks like a simple guy from our world who mysteriously got into the warhammer universe.
Avitus knew. Avitus wanted only to die. He was too proud to commit suicide so he sought certain death the only way he knew how- betrayal.
Anyone who can and might be able to kill him ends up mulched or blown up through a hail of bolter, plasma, rpg's, and lascannon fire.
And the only one he knew who can defeat him fair and square are his brothers.😔
This is the canonical betrayal
+Ken Lenard Navarro indeed it is.
Accurate.
Avitus discovered the truth about everything in Warhammer 40K.
Reminds me a lot of Comedian of Watchmen fame, a character who present an aloof personality yet is the only one who understood the reality of it all.
I kind of want to see Avitus as the master of his own chapter, tbh
I spent this whole game determined that I was going to make Avitus the traitor because I never liked him. Only once he became the traitor and I was forced to kill him did I actually start to like him as a character. Go figure.
"After a thousand battles, one only sees death."
Avitus woke up from the lies of the universe, especially after starting a Games Workshop collection and finding out the price of a single devastator squad
hahahahaha good one
I personally find Avitus to be the second most sympathetic traitor, after Thaddeus (not counting Jonah obviously). The simple fact is that he's right. He's the only one who is willing to see the grim truths of the universe he lives in.
so avitus found out what we knew already it is a "grim dark future of grim dark grim darkness".
Mikael Anton Kurki very dark and grim.
"Mewling" is a really popular word for Chaos in this game
The funny thing is that even though it sounds like Avitus' voice actor playing the altered voice of the hidden traitor, it is clearly a different take than when he played Avitus saying those same lines.
In Russia, Jonah’s voice actor was playing hidden traitor’s voice. So when I accidentally got Jonah the traitor it was pretty accurate to me.
Cyrus was sadly mistaken; Avitus did escape *Retribution* since he does not appear in the Retribution expansion since this is the canon betrayal :P
And also Jonah was forced to turn due to a Daemon choosing to possess him shortly after he clashed with the Tyranid Hive Mind.
The thing is, he’s 100% right about everything he’s saying
no he's not, he was just unlucky enough to end up in a corrupted chapter
@MrDacat he is right lmao the empire of mankind is a dead end with no hope and corpse of an emperor, what is there to believe?
Avitus is pretty bad-ass for a sergeant. In a way I'm glad his betrayal was canon as it was the coolest of the five. For anyone wondering why his is most likely the canon one it's because in DOW II: Retribution Tarkus does say he slew someone who fought alongside him on Kronus; Avitus and Tarkus are the only one thats served together on Kronus. Why, Avitus? Why? :C
+Hyper Why, Mr.Anderson? Why?
Because he's sick of killing and all the bullshit of the 41st millennium. Turning traitor was the only way to make his brothers see the corruption in the Chapter.
I love how Thaddeus turn into the “Angry Avitus” in this cutscene
“Look at this planet! LOOK AT IT! That is why!”
@Extraintrovert he joined Chaos because he's tired of the Chapters lies and at least [in his mind] chaos is honestly evil; while the Chapter covers up their bloodlust with 'honour' and 'duty'.
"I can't take it any longer!"
@TriforceOmega
Its actually all the voice actors at once. Avitus just happens to have the deepest voice.
the way how avitus kept talking about fighting, killing, calling imperial guard bad names it was no surprise that he would fall
So the hardened, honorable and noble warrior finally snapped to the horrors of the WH40K universe and became a bloodthirsty, nihilistic traitor?
Why am i not surprised?
Damn, this moved me, I even felt pity for him, just because he see the truth but he didn't know that their are many truth and none are real in 40k
As i kid i played this .... as an adult i understand exactly how avitus was feeling
There is no doubt in my mind this guy is the canonical traitor. Just listen to him.
Nicholas Bury it was hinted even in the previous game.
This transmission sound like the traitor in every version.
Tarkus comes out of silence and informs Diomedes that he slayed Avitus himself on board the Judgment of Carrion.
@TriforceOmega yeah the original muffled transmission sounds like it's Avitus's voice. The funny thing is though, even if it is, after listening to Avitus say the lines here and the lines as they were first revealed in that disguised voice, they have a different inflection: so it still wasn't this actual line.
i like how the voice changed message sounds exactly like avitus.
He must have the most corruption or he must reach the max first.
Yes that is beacuse Avitus (as far as I know) is the canon traitor.
Avitus sounds like Colonel Miles Quaritch sold his soul to the devil.
LOL! :)
Is it just me or does the muffled transmission sound exactly the same as Avitus normally does?
Out of all the betrayals, Avitus starts with his Terminator model instead of his Devastator model.
You breaka my heart avitus. You breaka my heart.
This was what I got for goofing around with the corruption mechanic. i had a couple of "Redemption Items" that could be used to reduce corruption. I Kept thinking I could use them as soon as I reached orbit over Aurelia.
Ugh... probably wouldn't have made a difference anyway. I think he would have still had more than anyone else in my teams anyway.
and now we see it all in action.
lol, avitus complains about all the death and violence, yet he joins the black legion
@TriforceOmega yes, in face the canonical ending for this is that avitus is the traitor.
@Airganoth I didn't like Martellus. He only comes from behind his desk when he's shot down or to stab you in the back.
Maybe even the true betrayal.
Yeah, I was laughing whole the time when I hear'd it and I got Avitus as the traitor xD.
I always liked Avitus
This saddens me as Avitus was always my favorite of the Blood Angels. Who doesn't love using a heavy bolter or similar heavy weapons?
TheGigafist assault is my fav though
Ravens, dude
whats name that background music??
@BaldurandVali It honours the deeds the hammer has done, the FC does betray to chaos or gabriel kills him, either one, correct about avitus, but what happens to Thaddeus, maybe in next addon?
Funny how the one who kept babbling on about space marines being the bravest and knowing no fear goes all emo on everyone.
Avitus' betrayal is cannon apparently.
It would make sense since he is canon traitor.
It depends on which of your squads has the highest Corruption. If all your squads are completely pure Martellus is the traitor.
@BaldurandVali Dont you mean nameless hammer or somethin?
And what happens if all your squads are have the max corruption?
Probably its either a "dice roll" who will be the betrayer or one will have a preset for the betrayal (like its Martellus if nobody has corruption).
The one with the least point in will ( energy) will be the traitor
Why does the planet go blurry and make an eerie sound every few moments?
warp
The planet is being affected by the Warp. In a sense, is it dematerializing as reality and unreality meshing together. Concept, matter and emotion fusing into something incomprehensible to the human minds.
I liked avitus too.
Canon ending is already written in Wiki.
@necrontyr1800 Really? Where does it say that? Because there is no mention of the FC or Thaddeus after CR.
after 10 years, I understand, delusions and lies, Horus war right
He may have been right but it doesn’t mean the emperor was wrong
The Khan said it best "It was a mistake to lie about the warp, it was an even greater mistake to believe the words of those that dwelled within it."
@TriforceOmega come to think of it, ur right it does sound like avitus
Cyrus called Gabriel Angelos and Eliphas incompetent. He does not know what he's talking about. I agree with you on Martellus, though, since no one gives two fucks about him, and you really aren't responsible for what happened.
make sure he is the highest in the corruption meter
@KiethSomataw99 Squad with the most corruption.
@necrontyr1800 Then way is there a hammer named in Vanilla Ice's honour?
Thaddeus and Jonah.
You said it!
@TriforceOmega oh i think if i remember correct in canon ending avitus should be the real traitor so it might be the reason perhaps
thanks mate
Why Avitus? WHY?!
playing retribution, you learn the commander you play as in CR is killed by tarkus, cyrus is in retribution as well as tarkus and jonah orion, martellus and cyrus, so either thaddeus or Avitus have turned to Chaos in the actual story line
Avitus was sus-
Where?
What about Tarkus?
I can understand that avitus had no choice to betray the blood ravens because of our chapter from the krous campaign I shall honour him as a battle bother I find it was hard to kill him thanks to the black legion 😒
blood ravens
how do u decide who betrays u?
@Solarchos makes more sense then what i said xD
Necrontyr Gaming Tarkus did not kill FC, because FC was not present during Dark Crusade, which he clearly says that the traitor was there and the only other seargant that was there is Avitus.
Lexicanum points out the canon endings, so I won't spoil them here.
1:36
wait I thought the engi betrayed you? are there multiple endings to this game?
The one betraying you is always the one with the highest corruption however, avitus is the canonical traitor
How does one achieve such herasey......FOR MAGRAGE
