I had the same experience when I bought a used legendary lightcore Grim Creeper because it wasn’t in a box, looked so cool with the blue and gold combined with light 😂
I like lightcore just because they light up and it looks cool, and the best part about lightcore and also series 2,3 is that they are an extra Skylander and it make it easier to find and collect, for example I really wanted Wham Shell for SSA but I sadly couldn’t find any because it’s so rare, but luckily I found the common lightcore wham shell and I use him so often in SSA, that’s the reason why it helps for us players who don’t want to collect every Skylander and variant
I know late answer lol. I see your point but ... to release a Grim Creeper and Lightcore Grim Creeper or Star Strike and Lightcore Starstrike in the same Generation doesnt make sense in any way
It’s also a great alternative to the normal version of a core because they don’t have wow pows in the game they debuted in so you get a cool lightcore and the skylander you need for your collection

Ok here's a idea i had for the light cores you know that explosion of light they have when entering the game what if there was a light meter the skylander fills up by collecting exp when the meter fills up you can do the light explosion again also fills up when hitting enemies.
I wish that they made it so that every part of the skylander that would make sense to glow should, Like Prism Breaks hand crystals are the only things that light up, I think it would’ve felt a little bit justified if they made Prism Breaks back crystals and even the stand that all skylanders stand on glow
2 of my lightcores actually broke. The first one was my favourite skylander, as well as FIRST (before I even had a skylanders game), lightcore eruptore. One day I accidentally dropped him and the orange piece at the bottom fell off and wasn’t working anymore, but he still slightly lit up. The second is my lightcore drobot, only one of his wings broke off.
Man, that must’ve sucked. I know a lot about breaking my Skylanders and I can say it is not a good feeling when your Nightfall loses the entirety of its body or when your Astroblast gets its computer chip bent.
I liked when the Lightcore re-pose matched one of a Skylander's two paths, and (if you really like that particular Skylander) you could buy both and have their respective poses matching their corresponding paths. Flashwing and Shroomboom are the best examples of this -- also because their Lightcore versions aren't missing out on a Series 2 Wow Pow. And also also, not being Series 2, you can't change their paths without resetting them, so you'd need to buy two anyway.
I think the Lightcores should’ve had massively buffed elemental power. It wouldn’t make it too different from the normal Skylander, but it’d make you really glad to hear the “Skylanders of the [Insert Skylander Element] are stronger in this zone” cue and having your attack power be massively buffed.
Here's an idea for lightcores to make them better: Make them have special, almost wow pow like abilities unique to that version involving light in some way and make said abilities do a LOT of damage.
What I think would have been cool would be articulated figures Edit: Also yes, I agree with you, LC Drobot sucks, and if his eyes and maybe his wings glowed also and he was in a pose where you could see everything lighting up from the front would be cool
I have a Lightcore Smolderdash. I can’t exactly remember how I got it (probably for christmas when I was young) but when I put it on the portal, I was surprised to see it light up!
While I don't hateThem, I could do without the Lightcore figures. My biggest problem with them is the Lightcore and the base figure looked too similar to each other. At first glance could your average Portal Master tell the difference between Series 1 Jet-Vac and Lightcore Jet-Vac? Or Series 1 Chill and Lightcore Chill? The best Lightcore figures were the ones that had a unique look compared to the base figures, like Countdown and Hex.
Swap force lightcores were objectively the worst because instead of using it to bring in new characters or bring back old ones they went for slight reposed models of BASIC characters IN THE SAME ROSTER. Why would I want to buy a character that risks either being a boring piece of cheap plastic or a blindingly gaudy lightcore gimmick depending on which one you actually wanted?! Since I actually much prefer the look of the lightcore gimmick, I love the fact that all the elite Giants characters have built-in lightcore functionality: and the fact that they didn't bring it back for the COMPLETELY TRANSPARENT TRAPTANIUM WEAPONS of Skylanders Trap Team will NEVER make sense to me.
@@kryptkrusher Sorry lol, I was watching this while walking home from School. I agree as well that they should've just made all skylanders glow, Great vid tho!

I know where the whole money problem comes from with reposes, it Activision what do you expect. But to be honest I enjoy have multiple figures of my favourite characters
The lack of a light up feature in Trap Masters is what irks me the most. It's like they designed an entire line of gimmicklanders around the idea of being lightcores and then just forgot to put in the wiring.

A in world reason to exist- this is more for hard core fans who actually care about the lore but we do get explanations for the gimmick skylanders and I think explaining these ones wouldn't be hard.
One thing I will say though about the lightcores and series 2 is although it was very much for more money, it allowed those with less money at one time or less selection to come back to future games and get characters they had missed for past games. This is especially notable with wham-shell, which was the last spyros adventure skylanders to come out but did come out later as a lightcore in swapforce
