  • TesseracT - King (from new album Sonder)
    Out now on Kscope, order here: tesseract.lnk.to/Sonder
    Director/Producer/Editor: Kyle Kadow & Steven Cleavland
    Gaffer: Spencer Ortega
    PA: Casey Deitrich
    Mixed & mastered at www.aclekahney.com
    Sonder adds significant firepower to the band's arsenal, blending the harsh abrasiveness of One (2011) and progressive ethereal elements of Altered State (2013) with the accessibility of Polaris (2015). Sonder is streamlined, honest and direct with all the trademark TesseracT dreamy atmospherics and bending grooves.
    Singer and lyricist Daniel Tompkins explains the concept behind the new song: “Far too often we find ourselves lead into conflict and inner turmoil. Life is surely a battle, history has a bad habit of repeating itself and when living with the constraints of an onerous life it’s easy to overlook the greatest gift we’ve ever received: life itself"
    The video was shot in a snowy Wisconsin following a brutal storm, to which bassist Amos adds "We have been very lucky to work with two cinematographers of such vision and quality as Kyle and Steven. We gave them free reign with the creation of the first storyboard. They chose to explore the theme of claustrophobia and how fear can control our lives. Using a luminary figure as a beacon of hope and escape for the characters."

    Thanks to all of you that have left nothing but positive energy and respect for King. I’d personally like to draw some attention to our film makers, Kyle Kadow, Steven Cleavland and the cast and crew for making such an exceptional short film. Huge props to those guys - Dan

    This song gets released the same day I decide to quit my job after a year of being uncomfortable with it, surrounded by toxic people that instead of lifting me up and support me all they did was wear me down till I started to have doubts about my value as a human being, I took a big decision, I know it will be hard but I won't allow anyone to take away the freedom to be just me, thanks Again TesseracT for always being there for me.

      In the same boat right now. Quit my job several months back because it was wearing me down and it didn't help that I was depressed either. Still unemployed at the moment but I'm working hard on myself before I jump back into something I'm not prepared for. It's songs like these that keep me going. I wish you much luck! Let's both get through this!

Working jobs I hate to slave away for some evil rich dick heads and I'm just not getting anything from it. There has to be more to life than that. My higher self is searching for something but doenst know what it is yet. Tesseract is the stuff that opens up my mind, damn!! I couldn't survive without music. Good luck! Hope you find your way.

    This. Exactly this is the reason Tesseract is my favorite band. No other music can make my whole body go into full goosebump mode, make my eyes close, and all my limbs trying to play with the rhythm. Every song of their hits me like a freight train and connects with me instantly. No other band will ever be so alive in my memories no matter where I am in my life even in 50 years from now.

      Happened with me more than 5 years ago the first time i heard them randomly on youtube. 2 weeks after that i never felt more connected to a group of people from all over the globe. 2 more weeks after that i had the tesseract figure tattooed on my chest. To this day it reminds me of the 4D mathematical figure which this bands represents, with the fourth dimension being more of a feeling rather than anything scientific. Their music will sound in my head until my last moment on this earth no matter what happens to the band.

    Im new to your music as my Son told me about you all.
    You are brilliant i love King and hexes and there will be more favourites as i listen through.
    Also you are such a great influence on my Son who is starting his solo career, he passed his degree and went on to do masters after a much needed rest.
    He primarily is a guitarist and he plays bass too, he was in a prog metal band but he came home for a bit and he has decided to go solo, so so proud of him.
    It will be prog metal, he has a lot of influences but metal/ prog Metal.

      for me it was the opposite. i was quite disappointed by both of them after the first listen.
      for luminary mainly because its so short and a waste of potential to cut it off after 3 minutes and for king because the guitars annoyed me and didnt make sense to me.
      but since its prog music, its not easy to get what the music is trying to convey at first listen. so after 1-2 days each, i loved the songs.
      especially king. :)

    Goddamn, this song is amazing! I'm not the kind of person who thinks bands greatly depend on their vocalist (lifelong guitar player) but Tesseract is one of those bands that works best as a full unit and Daniel is obviously a key element. Can you imagine Tool without Maynard?

    • @chuckh9168
      @chuckh9168 6 років тому +4

      Dan works here very, very well, but I would offer that Altered State would not have been nearly as good of an album if it were anyone else but Ashe on vocals. His voice was just as much an instrument in that space as any guitar, bass, or drum.

    • @midway478
      @midway478 6 років тому +2

      @Chuck H & Ethan King-
      I won't deny that Ashe is a great singer, but Altered State is by far my least favorite Tesseract album. It's hard for me to listen to the whole thing all the way through in one sitting because it just bores the hell out of me. Part of it is because the music is very sub-par for them, in my opinion, and the other reason is that there's too much focus on the vocals. Sometimes, playing a slightly smaller role is more beneficial to the band as a whole. What generally comes to mind when I think of Altered State is drawn out, ambient noises. Both the vocals and the music. That's fine for a song here or there, but Altered State starts at a crawl, gets repetitive sounding early, and never lets go. That may be an enjoyable sound for many, but I much prefer the Tesseract that shows up when Dan is their frontman. It may not be his doing or influence, whatsoever, but they sound more like a team with Dan for some reason, and not "Tesseract featuring Ashe O'hara".

    Wow amazing song and beautiful video!
    We all need to remember, that no matter how good or bad our lives get, we all need to realized how Lucky each of us is to be here alive and on this Planet. To me this is what the video is representing. We all have bad days, some of us get beat up, treated like shit, are stricken with a terrible ailment.. whatever it may be. But from birth WE WERE CHOSEN we need to stop and see this. Not everyone gets to be chosen to be here. It’s just US all 7.5 Billion Of us. Life is precious even if we deal with what we know as Pain and struggle. The thing is we as this person gets to experience these things. And again some of it may be shit. But we are lucky we were chosen and get to experience it. We all just need to come together and realize all of the minds in the world is a Singularity.

    Song grows on me more and more. It feels like a combination of their material with their more recent experimental pop like material (meaning tighter, shorter and quasi-conventionally structured) with the long progressive pieces of their earlier material (I'm drawn to both). I really love it when a band does that. The emotional depth of Polaris with the more progressive metal of One and Altered State. And, the writing and detail is incredible. . .
