  • TesseracT - Luminary (from new album Sonder)
Out now on Kscope, order here: tesseract.lnk.to/Sonder
Sonder adds significant firepower to the band's arsenal, blending the harsh abrasiveness of One (2011) and progressive ethereal elements of Altered State (2013) with the accessibility of Polaris (2015). Sonder is streamlined, honest and direct with all the trademark TesseracT dreamy atmospherics and bending grooves.
Vocalist Daniel Tompkins describes Luminary as "conceptually exploring a deep and devouring sense of insignificance, which ties into the overall theme and meaning behind 'Sonder'." The album also features an extended and re-worked version of last summer’s single “Smile”.

You could raise the dead //
With those terribly troublesome eyes /
Maybe you’ll always be bad //
Maybe you’ll always be the same •
Are you alone, locked inside //
That prison in your head? /
You walk through the crowd //
    Lost in the sound /
Invisible to every passing eye •
This waking life is not what it seems to be //
No time to talk, no air to breathe /
Reminisce the scent of a single flower //
What butchers cleave, the wolves devour /
But if you consume it you will surely die //
When you’re buried with your tenderness /
You’ll drag it to your solitary grave •
Are you alone, locked inside //
The prison of your mind? /
You walk through the crowd //
    Lost in the sound /

X5ync they already confirmed they're dropping a release this year. Danny and the creative director for Alien: Covenant are working on a music video for Tool. Maynard may not always be forthcoming but the fact you have OTHER people confirming it's coming, means more than anything they've said in the last 11 years. Or however long it's been.

He can and does sing Ashe's parts, apparently you haven't seen them live. Their skill levels are comparable, but I prefer Dan's style over Ashe's because Ashe is a bit too feminine for my taste. God...how I wish I was not invisible to every passing eye.
I can see this amazing life to share with someone else. It's like right there....I just need someone to take the plunge with me. Just see what I see and the potential it could bring.
There's such a beautiful pain in this song....that I so deeply feel. I no longer want to feel it....but there's really nothing I can do but keep fighting it.
One day I won't be locked inside this prison in my head. It won't be just a vision...but a reality.
I just need to find the one person who will see it as well. Then all will be well.

I really dig the sound. Much better than the first "Smile"-release, although it was certain that it was far from being a final version back then. The only thing that bothers me, is the first verse. It never comes back in the song and breaks the complete feeling of it. I just felt like the second verse could have been used in the first section, too. I know it might be an artistical point, but that is just my opinion. Other than that I am looking forward to the Album. Thank you for you music, guys!

crash979797 The albums have got shorter by one song each time, although different places are saying this one is either 7 or 8. Perhaps there are longer songs this time. Also, I feel like there might be an intro soundscape on the album before the weird noise.

However if the songs on this album don't all deliver in terms of quality it would be indeed an odd development (Polaris for example was hit and miss for me. I actually only disliked 2 or 3 songs but that was already one third of the album)

Just saw the album art. From what I saw, I think its basically an endless form of things inside things. If you zoom in, things will get bigger, and if you zoom out, even in that things will get bigger. There is one representative solar system; outside it, there are other "planets". So, the first solar system acts like the "sun" to the supposed second solar system, and it goes on and on. Which is what makes our brains work for "perspective"; things get deeper as we go deeper inside the world view, and things will still get bigger (bigger picture) if we zoom out. And the purple shady darkness that surrounds it ? I think those are things not yet explored/out of our reach/beyond our understanding. This is what I could figure out. Nevertheless, an interesting concept. Eagerly waiting for 4/20 😏

This album (at least what I can gather from the lyrics of Smile and Luminary) touches upon ego issues. That's why the cover art is represented by a solar system map, the Sun (which is at the middle) symbolizes the human ego and everything that revolves around it are every day events and people who take their own courses despite the lack of awareness of someone's ego.

I'm just personally shocked that so many find Altered State to be their best, it was mostly just ambient stuff. Valid point, but you've got to remember that the singles released to promote the album (especially the first) aren't going to push the boat out too much. There might be more experimental songs on the album, although I think that's unlikely. But only time will tell

Joseph Yaden vocals are meh admittedly but how is the music not smart or intrcate? I just listened to Altered State for comparison and this holds up well in terms of complexity. It's actually a pretty dense and complex rock single. I think the tight delivery might be misleading you into thinking it's less complex than the more slowly moving and atmospheric tracks on Altered State

    • @cainfft008
      @cainfft008 6 років тому +8

Complex doesn't always mean good. IMO sometimes the simpler the riff or song, the more impact it can have. Just look at nocturne: not the most stupidly complicated riff or ever created, but it's simple sound attenuates the mood of the song. For me I hear more old Tesseract in this, I really do.
