The drama:
1. TVP (Polish broadcaster) changed the rules of the NF a few days before it was held
2. At least 2 jurors were somehow connected to Blanka (1 of the jurors was her choreographer)
3. TVP broke some of the rules of the NF
4. The head of the jury didn't even know the rules of NF (she also said some other strange things)
5. TVP does not want to publicly show the individual jury votes
6. Blanka liked some comments and a post very offensive to Jann (public favorite), and later said she didn't
Blanka and TVP are also accused of a few other things, but I wouldn't say they're 100% true
Oh that she is close to one of the judges sons, has apparently been close to one of the other judges and the head of tbsp amongst other rumours. I feel for you, this will be laughed at, still the girl’s got balls to get up on stage and ‘sing’ that in front of 200m viewers and audience.
1. TVP changed the rules due to limited airtime. That's the main reason.
2. One of the jury was involved in choreography for Blanka but also worked with Felivers, Kuba, Maja, Yan (other contestants) for NYE show .
3. Not a single rule was reported as BROKEN (only for conspiracy theories)
4. Another theory based on people opinion (not a fact)
5. The pressure to reveal the results is happening in comments on youtube so don't think TVP will consider that as a serious request.
6. That's fabricated story to dismiss Blanka. The comment was liked from fake account and poorly edited screenshots means nothing.
And we can go on and on with the fairy tales...

@@Jack-mx6epbest semi final result for Poland ever and best televote result since 2016, yes, I guess, Europe (and most of Poland) actually likes it. Although to be fair to the user you're responding to, her NF performance wasn't that great and she improved a lot since then.

The choice of jury in Poland is ridiculous, because there were few better performances this evening. Besides Jann, honestly they could give 12 point to Dominik Dudek or Alicja Szemplinska. But they chose one of the worst songs and singers. How could this happen? For example one of the members of jury is Blanka's choreographer. But situation is more complicated and it looks like corruption case.
Who is the choreographer? Everything about this song and performance is terrible, and the choreography + the dancing are TERRIBLE.

I'm Pole, let me explain :) Blanka's lack of ability to perform live and someone else's decisive (unoficially) win in televoting is one thing, the more important thing is our national final was most propably set up for Blanka's win. Voting rules were suddenly changed just a few days before the final and they empowered the jury. Blanka's choreographer's boss was on the jury. Jury voting wasn't transparent and televoting results weren't presented on the show. It's been 2 weeks and we still don't know the full results. Our broadcaster dosen't intent to explain anything.

We really don’t count on polite words and we don’t seek for advocacy. I click on videos like that and think “Oh a reaction to our contestant, let’s see how bad it is in vocal coach’s eyes. Let me hear that not only Poles think it’s dreadful!”

Hi Georgina, as you already know, Blanka wasn't our - the Poles - choice, but the choice of polish jury... We would be really delighted if you'd react for Jann's song - Gladiator. He wrote and composed the song by himself, also the whole concept of the music video for Gladiator was his idea. This is extremely impressive as for 24 yo man tbh. He is a real artist and the person which could give Poland top 5 result in May for sure. Jann's charisma and his stage presence is something that attracts your attention (in a good way...) and stays in your mind... Not to mention blank Blanka lol, who let's be honest - is like million other beautiful girls in this world... Thanks for your reaction, we all know that this song is, let's say, average 🙄

@@in_wino_veritas and this is just my opinion but I want to believe what she'll point out in Jann's performance was that he sounded out of breath and probably nervous, something Blanka also seemed to suffer from, but the distinction between their voices is clear, Jann is a much better vocalist than Blanka, by a wide margin.
The only way Jann would get to top 5 is if only deaf middle aged gay men would be allowed to vote.. Sorry, his voice is as bad as Blanka's.

And I think, if Georgina reacted to his performance, Jann psychofans wouldn't like it, because she would probably just point out, how awful it was. She would probably even say, it was even worse than Blanka's performance.
Info on the drama:
Blanka (the winner) has a contract with Warner Music. Some of the jury members work for Warner Music. The other artists do not have anything to do with that record label. Also one of the jurors (Augustin Egurola) has a dance school and Blanka's dancers attended it. Dancers of other artists do not have any connection to Egurola.
HAHAHA! Now I get it. Egurrola is such a fraud. The quality of the "choreography" and the dancing is as bad as Blanka's vocals.

The Polish broadcaster released a thread saying that she had won their national selection even before the selection and voting had taken place. People who worked with Blanka on her song were part of the jury. Jann was the fan favourite for Poland, he gave off slightly queer elements during his performance and in Poland, that's quite controversial
It is not controversial in Poland - people chose him! It was controversial only for 2 people in jury.
The issue is she is not even a singer. This is her second single ever and it's clear she doesn't know how to perform.
Jann on the other hand has performing experience and was the one people voted but our broadcaster rigged and pushed Blanka through due to her ties to the Jury.
Now Blanka is liking comments offensive towards Jann and complaining to other countries broadcasters even though she is laughed at everywhere in Europe.
Apparently she is revamping it with a dancebreak but if she is then why is this version music video on ESC chanel.
We as Poles did not choose Blanka and there is a major national shame going on. We'd much rather get disqualified somehow then allow her to perform in Liverpool
A dancebreak? Gosh. If she's already out of breath here, imagine what adding a dancebreak would do to her singing.
What's also funny is that when you read her page on the esc website, there's written that she can parform complicated choreography... she's already out of breath while doing a simple one so i doubt that the dancebreak is gonna help lol
It'll backfire on them. Sending an inexperienced performer to eurovision kills their career. She's not going to get anything career-wise out of doing this.

There are many reasons why polish Eurovision fans do not agree with this choice, i.e., Blanka had professional contacts with the choreographer from the jury panel, 4 days before the finale the contest rules were changed so that televotes did not matter so much anymore (allegedly she got 3 times less televotes than Jann but with the new voting the difference between them was only 2 points). Some (not all!) issues with singing can be blamed on a bad audio mixing by the broadcaster, almost every entry that evening sounded a little off
Quite a lot has been said about what happened in Poland this year. I will only add - they have changed the voting rukes 4(!!) days before the National final to make sure that televotes will change nothing for Jann. I am still very sad and disappointed. I am glad that there are so many good songs in other countries that I can enjoy, because out entry gives me only sadness.
From my understanding, the polish broadcaster TVP had promoted Blanka in their tv shows before the national final, and then changed the rules of the NF only days before it took place to give more power to the jury and less power to the televote. This may be a response to how another competitor, Jann, was very popular with the public, and if the old rules still applied he would have very likely won the NF. During the NF, Blanka then received full jury points despite her questionable vocal performance, even though competitors like Dominik and Alicja had very good vocal performances. Many polish people feel that the whole NF was rigged for Blanka and was only held so that the broadcaster could gain money from televoting.
Alicja really got a great voice, but she got dumped for someone who couldn't sing for the 2nd time after 2021. Dominik was OK as well, but as a girl I'm a little biased towards this not becoming a sausage party, so I probably would have gone with Alicja, but both would have been better jury choices than Blanka. Hopefully, her vocals in the jury show were better and she was just nervous. But if she's nervous, when performing in front of big crowds she's gonna fail at Eurovision even more.

The comments made by a Polish jury member at least make it seem like they rated the same performances we saw on TV and then gathered their results at the end of the TV program. Though the same comments also seem to imply said jury member had no idea of how the voting happened, so she might be just extremely confused I suppose.

Georgina, Ive thought about what I witnessed and here is my summation of the scandalous events in Warsaw.
The situation that went down with this so-called National Final "competition" will live in ESC infamy permanently, and it will be at LEAST 10 years before people stop referencing it every single year. It puts to shame any previous national selection scandal in ESC history.
The first Red Flag was TVP suddenly changing the rules for the final selection process, mere days before the final, from pure televote to suddenly having this surprise Jury have 50% of the power (but ultimately, given that it voted AFTER the televote was known, it had 100% of the power) has created outrage to say the least.
Second, the unethical/immoral manipulation of the jury members themselves. The ironic tragedy of having the woman (Edyta Gorniak) who was Poland's first (and to date highest placed) entry also being the major mover behind this disgrace is just heartbreaking. She is ON RECORD as making comments about Jann being "demonic" and that she couldn't "in good conscience" vote for him. Her bigotry about his perceived orientation is abhorrent -- he must be judged on the performance alone, her personal religious bias be damned. Also there is clearly some form of intimate relationship between Blanka and Edyta's son. Lastly Blanka's choreographer was a jury member. Apparently TVP has never heard of fair play or conflict of interest.
I don't truly blame Blanka herself, SHE didnt force Edyta or other Jury members to willingly violate any semblance of impartiality etc. They permanently stained themselves with disgrace of their own free will.
But in the end, the worst reality is that SHE CANNOT SING WORTH A DAMN in a live performance, and many Poles have now publicly said so... based on other things than just this competition. If the jury was gonna commit such gross misconduct they could have at least made up the previous slight to Alicja, from when she wasn't auto-sent in 2021, to make up for 2020, and at least SHE is a proven live performer.
I'm not Polish but I've got some details.
The voting rules were changed last minute away from the traditional rules, giving the jury more power
Blanka was friends with the head of the jury's son and her choreographer's boss who were both jurors (there's also a 3rd, but nobody knows who they are), so all three of them voted Blanka high.
The real act that the people wanted (Gladiator by Jann), was voted for by the public en masse, but since the public held no power, Blanka won on jury vote alone, not Jann, who would've given Poland a chance to win.
She said they wrote a song in 3 hrs .
Probably just took Inna's song Up and changed it a bit.
''Poland didn't want it'' falls short to describe the situation. Poland HATED this song. It's hideous and Jann, the person we wanted to win, won televote by a HUUUUGE MARGIN (x3)

Polish people voted almost unanimously for Jann who didn't win. Given the fact that Blanka has absolutly no vocal skills and that she is somehow connected to at least two of the jury members (one of them being her choreographer), it goes without a shadow of a doubt that the preselections were set up. Moreover, Jann's performance might have been considered too queer or controversial (Górniak, the principal jury member, known for being "spiritually awakened" said in an interview that it had been "demonic" and that Blanka's performance on the other hand had been proper because she hadn't shown too much body despite the standards of nowadays pop music). People now are furious and some of them want Blanka to give up so that she doesn't humiliate Poland

The problem was that my Poles did not choose Blanka. It was chosen by a television station that is subordinate to the government. It was corruption. Hence the indignation. In the viewers' vote, Jann won. Corruption spat upon us.

Blanka was picked because of our broadcaster set it up. No one beside people in her label voted for her and let me tell you that she was on second place, do if it wasn't her label, Jann would have about 50% of televotes for himself if my calculations are correct. That's a hell of a drama and he were hurt and tricked by TVP. It's simply a corruption and manipulation, that is low. Please don't talk about Blanka anymore. Her career ended faster than it began.
You should really react to Jann, as he was not only Poland's choice, but also Europe's. We were on a 6th place in odds BEFORE announcing Blanka to be the "winner". That speaks for itself. Now we're at 22 place I think. Like c'mon... What did they do! We say a hard NO to this.

I was waiting for this reaction video. The drama is Poland cannot belive jury pick this as Polish representative. People vote from heart, who they like better. But jury? How person who cannot sing live won the contest where you have to sing live? The song is catchy, so I can belive it was a 2nd place in people voting. But first place in jury? No way! There were at lest 3 better choices. So people feel it was cheating. Especially one of the judges was reslonsible for dance choreo.
Dear Georgina, Jann is the real winner and Blanka won because of connections. Her record label made it possible. The polish broadcaster didn't even show the exact results.
We agree with you... This choice is a shame for Poland. Blanka is not our representative, she is the choice of our corrupt public television. Polish journalists of the Eurovision media appealed to the TVP authorities for transparency of the results, but there was no response. In Poland, nobody supports Blank's choice, because we all know that she was chosen by connections and money, not by fans. The petition to change the candidate for Eurovision and transparency of the results was signed by 90,000 people, but no one listens to us. The jurors fell silent, blocked their social media accounts, and did not give interviews. We have a terrible situation in Poland and people's rebellion against Blanka's choice, because she was not the victory of the fans. She can't even sing... She was in the Polish TOP MODEL a year ago, it didn't work out... So she recorded a radio hit with a big label, promoted for months on TVP. He has very rich parents and he rides not by talent but by bought victory. She has no fans in Poland.
I also don't know nothing about the drama behind, but your facial expression when she sings is very funny. The singer rarely hits a note and I thought our own Pia Maria last year in the pre party Israel performance was bad. Greetings from Austria.
Usually, I do not like to write negative comments. Also, despite the drama, I do not have sufficient evidence to claim her bribery or corruption.
However, you can find Blanka liked those ins comments which attack Ochman and Jann for their social background, saying ‘People like Jann from margins of society should never even perform in such competition', and comments which used homophobic slurs against Jann, even though Jann has not claimed he is gay or straight.
Honestly, I feel she is despicable. Period.
There was something very off with the sound in all performances and it's much visible in Jann "Gladiator" - official tv record sounds weird af but videos made by phones are totally better. Either way if you could, please check his performance. He deserves recognition after that unfair situation.

Polish representative this year is Jann with "Gladiator". Because of our corrupted jury we lost an opportunity to finally have a good result on ESC. We, the Polish audience, were sending petitions, letter to TVP (national broadcaster, nearly 100k people signed the petition to send Jann to ESC), to EBU, to many, many Eurovision-related media. And nothing. I won't be watching the competition this year only not to see her with Polish flag. People just can't get over this result.
This song sounds like "Up" from Inna feat. Sean Paul. Just compare it.

It is not right video. On ESC channel it was moderated. The Real one is on „Bądźmy razem TVP”.
This song is in my bottom 4, with Croatia, Romania, and San Marino.
Wow! so much has changed since I wrote this comment, so still don't like the Poland song or Croatia but I totally love Romania and San Marino now, they have gone right up my top 37 list.
I respect you not wanting to jump on the controversy but please react to Jann’s gladiator. If anything Jann deserves all the exposure he can get and his song is honestly a work of art.

This feels 100% like she's practised the choreography a bunch of times and is trying her best to remember it while singing, and none of it comes naturally to her. Just a very forced performance in that regard...
I am heartbroken and disappointed. Our representant his year is Jann and „Gladiator”, Blanka does not represent Poland but TVP. For the first time in 10 years I won’t be watching Eurovision. For Poles this contest is over this year.

There is a political context here. Polish Eurovision fans criticize nepotism and don't want to be represented by a person who can't sing. Our government is based on nepotism. Talent doesn't matter.
The winner of the Poles is Jann - Gladiator. Blanka is the choice of government television.

She bought her place into eurovision and lied about it many times, she had fewer votes but still went for the contest anyway, even tho most poles votes for jann

In 2020 we had a very good song (Romania ) Laura Bretan- Dear Father , everyone was so exciting, it was at least a top5 song and the juries ( the guys from Wiwi Blogs ) gives their votes to Ester Piony because in their opinion Laura was “anti gay” . So discussing.. everything is about politics.

Rafał Brzozowski 2 years ago wasn't a professional singer but Polish broadcaster picked him anyway and gave him shallow song.
A year ago they were lobbying for another shallow song with not very good live performance (luckily someone else won the national selection).
This year they probably set up the whole selection to send Blanka, who is really struggling on stage.
You might think "But why"? Why would Polish broadcaster sabotage themself like this.
Well just look at Belarus. They always send lifeless cheap blend songs. I can only assume that real artists have something to say. And what if the message dont line up with what authority want to force into people's head?
Thats why both in Poland and Belarus authority needs an artists who they can buy.
But being a sell-out and good artist doesn't usually go in one package

It's interesting to see, how Jann's song is reacted to almost more often than Blanka's "winning" song even after the Polish national selection has finished long ago. Ok, maybe he will not perform on the big Eurovision stage, but he is the true Polish winner already at a European scale. Hope, this is what Blanka and the Polish broadcasters wanted - shame all over the Europe.
She won the juries... Jann ended 4th with the juries. It's 50/50 so no matter if Jann got a million votes more , he wouldn't have won. Blanka still got 2nd in the public so it's clear she ended up winning.
I don't mind the studio recording of the song, but this live recording is a shambles. As you said, the vocals were a mess, but I also thought it would have benefited from having the backing track lifted up in the mix. There were also some parts of the choreography that were intended to be high-impact visual moments that were completely undercut because the camera didn't focus in on those moments. Will be interesting to see what they bring to the live show
She’s friends with son of one of the jury, the other jury is making choreography for her, TVP published who going to Eurovision hours before preselections, public vote was just a show, she can’t sing plus a song is a just a copy of Inna - Up. And that just a fraction of what’s wrong with it.
You should do Gladiator! It’s my unofficial 1st place and I can’t get over that it didn’t win because the juries were corrupt. (There is proof: why else would they post Blanka as the winner hours before it was announced?)
