Ya buddy your best deal buying lumber would be 4-6ft. 1 common because most of those boards are totally knot free but are not long enough to make select or FAS grade
If the guys stacking the wood without gloves, their hands would be stained purple by the end of the day! Stacking lumber on the green chain was my job 40+ years ago....

Could definitely tell it was oak by how quickly it stained from a short time on the beds.
