those of us who been there done that, know every move hes making and yea it was great and funny good job, those of you who are legs, dont have a clue ha ha.
5 months out of the Army, 8 months since my last jump. I wish I had a version of this of my own on DVD. If I had the $millions, I'd have Steven Spielberg direct it for me. I'd get the same guy to do it again, right there on Sicily. I want to jump again so much! I guess I will have to live vicariously through this video to satisfy my broken heart. I hope I can make it to All-American week next May...
This is completely a day in the life of the 82nd Airborne in the mid-90's. He covered everything except maybe the 6th point of performance...take a piss!
I met a few Fallschirmjagers back in 2015(was nice training, and you dudes get to drink beer.. after ) over here in Litauen. Cool dudes, but my german was bad all I could say was.. eine grosse bier und cigarete bitte. :D
@@Nik-nd1mv well the guys from portuguese recce dudes had moonshine. we played voley ball in our free time. Some Germans had legs broken, because they landed on an Airfield on tarmac not the grass at night. :( ( I believe it was an assault of it) still, the germans I met there are great.. I wish I remember their names..
@titratetoeffect80 yep. May 2002 @ Sicily DZ during All American Week. He did this once as a joke for the guys, then they had him do it for the CG. Earned himself a coin.
This brings back memories. If I'd failed jumpmaster school the first time my shadow would have never darkened the doorway to that school again. Proud to be a master blaster...
+TxInfinity When I saw him struggle with his weapon I laughed my ass off, I've rode my weapon in more times than I could get it to drop. Glad it was an M4!
I ALWAYS landed with my gear still attached. I would rather have a couple of bruises then to have my ruck get broken and my gear scattered all over the DZ.
i did this "dance" for my friends and battles...for the most part they didnt get it...not airborne. but the few that got it brought back tons of memories
this is a parachute jump master (equivalence) running through all the drills from dispatching his paratroopers, jumping himself, clearing the DZ and rallying. he covers all the funny things that you worry will happen to you, like getting a false wind speed, having your CE not lower, falling asleep etc any paratroopers would get a laugh out of this i think
I think you really have to have gone through jump school to get this and understand the humor. It must just seem like random motions to just about everyone else.
lol... My hubby is a Airborne Soldier, and he said that is exactly what they do. he especially loves the part when the Soldier falls asleep at his post. He said he's seen that happen a million times!
Who was that?! That was awesome using humor to loosen his guys up. I'm a veteran and I know that m.o.s. is one if the most challenging ones in the US military. Well done!
0:40-0:48 HOOK UP / NO CHECK STATIC LINE??? / CHECK EQUIPMENT. 2:10-2:15 Gets his 3rd line gear out from in front of him. 2:36 Makes ready. 2:49 Remembers chute. 3:50 Falls asleep...LOL! 4:18-4:23 Takes a piss?
No, he was dropping his ALICE pack to the bottom of its tether as he prepared to land. Notice that after he dropped his pack, he looked at the ground and then had to push away another jumper that was bumping into him. This Jumpmaster was putting on a good show!
I'm not in the military, but I get it more or less from the little I know: the opening door drill, stand by, hold the cord, "go!", push the boys ouside the plane, jump, make 360 degree check on canopy, avoid fellow jumpers by pulling risers right, left and back, lower equipment, flare and perform PLF, recover equipment, radio, don't forget about the parachute, move out, etc. Screw up and you'll do some push-ups. That's all I could guess. Could some insider make a better list of moves?
Ok I didn't get all of it but I definitely knew that it was time to go and the rest from there. Cool head gets you to the landing. Great fun to watch. Hard work to know all that and put it into that. Impressed!
They realy have fun at the RAF. I don´t know who was the first starting to dance while marshalling for example. But this has become a very funny tradition in the RAF and the USAF. I like that.
I was there when this happened. Not planned or rehearsed. Was for a JRTX on Sicily DZ. Cant remeber the guys name but he was an E5 or E6 in my Bn. I believe Bravo Co 1/505 PIR, 82nd. After he did this the CSM of course made it part of the demo because that's what CSM's do, lol. CSM Lambert, good call! - 1st Plt PSG, C Co 1/505 PIR.
LMAO! I started laughing for real at "hook up" and it didn't stop until almost the very end. The best part is when he gets smoked for sleeping while pulling security... and when he kicks the dude out the door.
Somebody was saying that these are Rangers. The Rangers rarely came to Ft Bragg to do mass tacs. this was probably the aftermath of a demonstration by one of the infantry battalions or brigades. The photographer running back and forth is wearing a maroon beret. We rarely saw Sicily DZ in the daytime. The only time I saw it during the day was a demonstration for the Ukrainians in 1994.
Too Damn Funny!!! I was a Special Ops Jumpmaster at Fort Bragg so I "get it". There is a joke at 1:15 when he tells the other Jumpmaster that winds are at 20 knots then he tell the jumpers 6 knots. This guy is GOOD! Airborne All the Way! HOO-Ah!!!
@Christian7thSF Both, the US Army and British Forces are doing that kinda dancing. So I was not sure which one it is in this video. Maybe it´s some kind of tradition. I don´t know. But it´s funny to watch.
Tain't SF.. this is Ranger footage (and I'm an ol' has been SF guy). Great stuff.. a classic (you know it's a classic because you see the Ranger run buy with his black beret on his noggin'). God bless all those serving in uniform around the world. De Oppresso Liber,
@Avera9eWh1teShark6 It's actually hand signal communication for exactly what he does preparing everyone to go out the door. when he puts his hands up hes telling them to hook up to the cables as an example.
how dumb am i? i thought it was all just a dance in the beginning until 1:37 when he kicked the kid out the plane. then i had to rewind to watch it all again. absolutely brilliant.
This is one of the all-time greatest videos. Used as a motivator every day in Army classes far and wide. Kudos to the jumpmaster who made it.
This guy was my ROTC instructor at military school. He truly changed my life for the better.
those of us who been there done that, know every move hes making and yea it was great and funny good job, those of you who are legs, dont have a clue ha ha.
Took me back 24 years. I surely miss jumping.
In 4:54 he just described life in the 82d in its entirety without saying a word.

So, how's the civilian life?
AATW! Was in C 1/504 from 78-80 when I started my career.
@@herkload Civilian life sucks. Its not living. Just existing.
Loved it he went through that whole routine with such ease I was impressed. Well done, understood it all.
Damn that's great! Spent 20 years on jump status and went to Jumpmaster school in '85. Best damn video I've seen in forever!
I haven't seen this is years! Thank you UA-cam. This is a classic.

My dad was a Jump Master, US Army 1st SFG.
This video's excellent.

Understood every single move.

4 years in the 82nd, and I've jumped out of more airplanes than I can count. This is dead on accurate, haha. I love this video.
Do you still love this video?
This is one of my fav's. The background audiance is great..."GET READY!"
This never gets old. My dad just retired from SF and I plan to go ROTC and then Green Beret
Still love to watch this in 2021.
What is America ? With out men such a this. May God bless the Men of all the Service branches. Salutations to All.
Best part was when his combat equipment got stuck! Haha, ain't nobody wanna land with that shit still attached.
+TxInfinity When I saw him struggle with his weapon I laughed my ass off, I've rode my weapon in more times than I could get it to drop. Glad it was an M4!
I was a 240 guy. Used to forget to loosen that shit all the time, but somehow never got hurt from it. Funny video!
I jumped a 60...never wanted to land that sucker!
@@jasonfay2250 Wasn't it fun jumping a 240? Busting the carrying handle on one when I thundered in hard. Lol

this was great! Nice to know some things never change. Funny that you can tell exactly what he's referring to.
i love the wind reference, its always 20 knots coming to the DZ but once your over it the DZSO always tells you its 5 lol

Its a qualification and sometimes a unit identifier
Had to have jumped out of a plane to fully appreciate this, funny and instructional, should be part of standard training.
The more I drink the more epic this is.

Best part: falls asleep while pulling security

That's cool. I'm turkish. Imagine that all Armed Forces in the world would make dance competitions instead of killing each other.
