Will it Run?!? 1951 Ford F4 Barn Find! Abandoned for 50 Years! Grain Truck Revival!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 жов 2024
- This 1951 Ford F4 came from the same estate as the infamous Snootch Rocket, check out that video if you haven't! As near as we can tell it was last used regularly in the early 1970s but it appears as the previous owner may have had it running 20 years ago. Let's see if we can't get this old Ford Flathead running once again! If you're interested in this truck as is you can own it for the low, low price of only $2,000 in the condition as shown in this video. As always, thanks for watching!

Jealous of the skid steer, Ill finally admit, slightly better then the towrolla!
You heard it here first folks!!!
lmao im kinda partial to towrolla, but the skid steer does look kinda cute too 🤣🤣
And those Bobcats are made in the US of A. I use the heck out of mine!
Nah. The Towrolla is the bomb!

I showed up one day at dads and he had left a jumper wire on the 6v coil of a 51 chevy i had. The coil had exploded and was on fire. I walked in his house and he was sitting there eating a sandwhich clueless. I told him and i believe he said " shit, I just had the damn thing running" I had forgot about that until watching this 😂
Good times at the Jimmy Warner Ranch!
I watch a lot of these - these... old car thingy videos... and I want you to know I really appreciate what you do bud, far more than just a lot of really good advice and life lessons wrapped inside rusty brake lines, but also the wry humor and deep shallowness or shallow depth of the human experience. Funny, irreverent, true to yourself - you're actually a great spirit boost for all of us riding out the crazy wicked backward phony timeline we have all been stuck in for years now..... How did you survive the darkest of times? I watched Duff and Mortske fix stuff and make me laugh - a lot. Cheers from Hamilton, ON
Much appreciated for the kind words!
I'd like to further this statement. In December of 2020 I entered a recovery program. I had an alcohol and drug problem. I'd been served divorce papers and had lost my second job in six months. As I labored to regain my sobriety, I knew I could count on this channel to post a video every Monday morning. It gave me something to look forward to. Believe me when I tell you, it was a hard recovery and sometimes it still is. But as I continue on in my sobriety, I know I still got ol Mortske Repair to look forward to every Monday at about 8am. Thank you Mortske and Duff.
I’m not sure if I’ll get the truck but I sure want those matchbooks. Recipes for almost the whole week! Well, except that fish thing
Quit stroking your ego and pin Dwayne’s comments.
@@MortskeRepair this guy sounds far too cleverer. You know. With the words & stuff. I think he might be Duff. In disguise. 😂. Nope.
Just one of the finest & most erudite reviews of your channel that we all wish we could have composed. 👍👍
Love how you show off all the paperwork and history of your rigs Mort. They're all time capsules and survivors from their time era.
Thats the best part!
I agree, it's cool to look back at the history of a vehicle and sometimes the previous owner 👍
@@robertvance1873 if only they could talk!
@@MortskeRepair that would be awesome. 👍
that's the most rust free vehicle I've ever seen on your videos. something to be said for barn finds
Grain trucks are nice cuz they usually got limited travel time in the winters.
Flathead, Mortske flick, OJ glove, and a starter. It’s a classic Mortske episode.
All of em!
Lost my dog last Sun we would always watch you and duff dog every Mon..I'd say duff dogs on and she'd run up and jump in my lap and we'd watch you guys. So I got me a new sidekick and I think Duff dog has got em another fan thanks for the awesome videos and keeping it real....
Having a dog will BLESS YOU with the happiest days of your life & unfortunately one of the worst. I'm VERY VERY SORRY ABOUT YOUR DOG, " DAMN IT HURTS SO BAD " but I'm so happy you got another sidekick. There's NOTHING & I MEAN NOTHING LIKE THE UNCONDITIONAL LOVE OF A DOG. AGAIN I'M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS, OK IT'S GETTING MISTY IN HERE, SOMETHING IN MY EYES.
Thank you so much it's very hard but I'll keep watching Mortske and Duff dog every Mon thinking of the good times we had watching these guys...
Sorry to hear that Larry.
@@MortskeRepair thank you !!!
You know your Monday gets a whole lot gooder when mortske upload
I'm sorry but Duff is the best dog ever. Just so happy at the slightest action.
He just makes me smile!
Great video, you find some great vehicles thanks for taking the effort to share the adventure.
I watch to see Duff and Greta! Lol, how dare you! Lol
He's a good boy! Good dogs make for a good life.
U have one of the best channels on Utube hands down in my opinion! Thanks for sharing 😎👍
Wow, thanks!
Best will it run shows anywhere, Thanks Mortske!
Thanks for the kind words!
I AGREE, He is so honest also about whats wrong with the vehicles he sells, THAT IS VERY VERY RARE, ESPECIALLY IN TODAY'S " KLOWN WORLD ".
Eow can't beleivr that old thing fired up good job mortskee
Aww I needed some Duff dog in my life this morning.
That really is a beautiful old truck. The paperwork in the glove box was interesting and a true trip back into history.
Awesome
You're darned knowledgeable about all kinds of ancient machinery, Mort. I'm impressed.
He’s good but have you ever really sat down, watched and listened to the Duff Dog? He’s a very wise, old soul with a desire to learn, discover and unearth creatures of all kinds from today or a half century in the past, dead or alive, who inhabit Mortske’s yard ornaments 😆
Duff mostly knows dead things
@@MortskeRepair duff is the mouse whisperer
@@maddoxlogging2303 He is also a master stench identifier, a true Ninja.
My family on MOM's side had a trucking co. Hauled milk and later beer. They had the old makes of diesels such as Diamond Rio, Mack, International, etc. They for some reason didn't like Fords. But there was one with a flat head engine that sat parked most of the time. When one of the favorite trucks broke down or needed service guess which truck came to the rescue. Yep, The Dually Ford with the Flat Head that never failed. It pulled every thing the others could and as far as I remember even without it's proper maintenance was there to perform the rescue. Thanks for reviving at lot of good memories.
Awesome!
Hi Mort. About 7 yrs ago I tried to build a rat rod. Started with 2 rusty, gutted, nasty '50 F-1 rollers. Took parts of both roofs to make one cab with a SIX INCH CHOP! And my 5'11 frame and big belly still fit comfortably on the factory seat, behind the factory wheel! Coolest lawn decoration you ever saw! 😂
Nice!
I love this video because i have a 1951 Ford Mercury M1 which has been passed down through our family since new! We took it out and restored it back to its former glory a few years back, best thing we ever did. I sure love to hear that flat head 8 purr.
Right on!
That thing is super super nice for its age, looks dang near 100% original interior. Looks like it even had a radio! Put in a few days of wrenching on the clutch (maybe not so bad of a job) and the brakes (definitely a bad job), carb kit, points & condenser. The way it runs already you can probably just get a modern 8 volt battery and it will be fine. Throw a bunch of horse blankets on those crunchy seats, pressure wash it, and brillo the glass. I know you're selling this one but man, Red Ed is a damn nice rig, especially since it doesnt have 50 years of farm engineering on it, except maybe that starter "adjustment."
OMG!!!!! That is a sweet Hamms bottle opener!!!
You certainly couldn't let today's cars sit that long and expect them to start as easily as this one did. They truly built things to last back in the day!! Good to see another one saved. Glad you didn't have to adjust any valves on this either. But you did get to pull the starter. Duff is liking the old-style bench seat in this model. Thanks as always for keeping us entertained. Waiting till next week.
I doubt you could get one to start AT ALL, nevermind this easily. I speak from first-hand experience when I say just a year long hibernation is enough to totally destroy a modern engine with its razor blade thin low-tension piston rings. That happened to the 4.6 V8 in my '99 Crown Vic P71. I parked it to save up for new injectors in running order, but when I got the new injectors in it and took it for a test drive it burned 2-3 quarts of oil in just a quarter of a mile while running on seven and ejecting the dipstick from the tube. Meanwhile, Mortske has resurrected a flathead V8 that was so badly stuck he had to beat the everloving fuck out of the piston DIRECTLY while scorching it to hell and back to get it freed off; when that engine started it only smoked for the time it took to burn off the oil in the cylinders. Hit on all 8. Sounded mean.
Part of why I'm gunnin' for a flathead myself. Trade my 14 Challenger for a Ford sedan with that engine in it.
Yeah, things were made to be fixed by a farmer with a hammer and some bailing wire back then 😂
That Ford (fix or repair daily) belongs be in a museum , It has a few issues but DANG!! the lack of rust and real 25 year old tires have to count for three out of five stars. I laughed my self to tears , until it started up, no stuck valves and the clutch stuck to the flywheel, I could go all night about that truck ( I have a soft spot in my heart for 51's. A big thank you for your humor and patience...Stu in Canada........
Our pleasure Stu!
2:30 That's in GREAT shape for an original (except the paint) 72 yr old truck! Thank God for barns!
Yeah, not bad
I think those matches are so freaking cool!
Brings back fond memories of working on these beauties when we lived on the farm back in the mid 80's. As always, another quality episode! Thanks to you and Chin for all the hard work!
Our pleasure!
Good job mort the savior of old antiques! and super Duff! The lead Foreman.
Wow the old flatty came around pretty good, no smoke or strange noises, been quite awhile since you did any stuck valve beating scenes. Old Duff really digs those old Ford trucks, he looks right at home hanging out on the passenger side of the cab.
Love the companionship of the Duff Dog hes a real assett to your show he seem to give you energy
Woooo hooooooo!! 14:00 UK time on a Monday is the best Nice Juan Morts. Thanks again mate
I don't mind so it don't matter, nice thought of him though hey 😉
Hey Mortske: Nice '51 F4 (Found On the Road Dead) grain rig you found there... (Looks like the classic Sanford and Son truck from the series) and it looked like it didn't take much to get it running again and it looked very well preserved... Looks like another Duff approved big rig!!! From the home of PB Blaster.... Cleveland, Ohio
that is awesome to see an old 1951 Ford truck, and it runs.
That's a sweet ride Morstake the Starter Jedi strikes again
Just wanted to say this is my dog & I’s favorite channel.
She digs Duff.
Awesome
I love the look of these old trucks! 👍
You got an old Hamm Sammich opener
I'm stoked to see
Opening shot with Duff is the best.
Damn morstske I've seen all of your shows ,but I don't know how I missed this episode. That's a cool old truck thanks brother man !!!
Hey Duff. Your hooman is quite good at taking your instructions. To get those ‘go for a ride’ machines working for you. 🐾🐾👏👏🤦♂️🤦♂️🤣🤣
Funny , that tank brings back memories of a one gallon Castrol oil can , tied on the back with the fuel pipe braized on the bottom and a gravity feed. Lovely truck
Finally a flathead with working valves. Ed had an answer for a sticky bendix.
I never have a case of the Mondays anymore. First you, then that Puddin guy that you told me about! Thanks for what you do!
Glad to help
Great truck - they sure don't make 'em like they used to, anymore. It's great to see Duff smiling in the Duff cam, he's up for all your test drives.
Nice Truck Mortske
My Grandpa had 2 of these on his farm and he used them for everything literally!! LOTS OF GREAT MEMORIES IN A TRUCK JUST LIKE THIS!
Good times!
I can’t get over the sound of a flathead firing up, very nice indeed😂😂😂
Heya Mr Mortske and Duff
That Minneapolis Moline clock reminded me you and your Besty in Oklahoma got his fathers running
Good times!
Love the old Ford. My Dad worked on many of these old trucks. He'd actually sit inside the engine compartment rather than pull the motor to work on them.
Great memories from the 50s. I hope it sells as is. I'd hate to see you part it out. It's a solid vehicle. A true barn find!
Heck Yeah! 🔥 🤘
Another Great One Mortske! 👍
That was pretty fun working on Mr. red
Cool old truck Mortske! She runs!! As always, great video. Big Al.
That bending cover was epic. You can smell the frustration. Thanks for sharing
Nice, perfect Rain Day Treat. Good to see you Mortske & Duff
Ain’t nobody can open a hood better than Duffleupagus!
Cool relics in the glove box. I love the look of this truck
The history in that glove box was a time capsule thank you for showing all that! Love your channel!!!!
Thanks for watching!
The only issue the 12 volt battery will give you is the radio. It won't like the 12 volts. Light bulbs can be changed. Swapping the 6 volt generator and regulator is not hard to do.
The starter will get a bit hotter if it cranks a bit too long, but with the 12volts spinning the engine over faster will start the engine quicker.
Swapping the coil for 12 volt coil or adding a ballast resistor in the power feed to the coil.
I'm sure Mortske knows all these things and a few I missed. Just wanted to say this so others might learn.
Yup!
Thanks Mort! Thoroughly enjoyed the show. Clickin over to Puddin's will-it-run episode.
One of my favorite videos you've posted. That old rig just appeals to me too much to watch this only once.
Wow, thanks!
We were grain farmers in Eastern Washington in the 1980's and 1990's. The elevator we hauled to still had the old overhead truck lift for those trucks that didn't have a hoist back in the day. It could still operate. It had wheel cradles you drove the front wheels onto. Nobody was allowed in the truck during operation. Driver set the brake, put it in low gear, turn off engine and the overhead lift did the rest. The elevator operator said they kept it operable in case a truck came in that the hoist broke down so they could still dump the truck. That Ford is a nice piece of history. Hope someone wants the whole thing.
Love the sound of a Flatty thumping, good job. Amps and Volts boys n girls, lol
You and me both!
Two thumbs up Sir Mortske!! 👍
Thanks Cam!
I dig that vevor jack!
It's pretty handy!
great video, last stuck clutch I had I started in first gear, held the clutch down and pushed the throttle on and off a couple of times ... all good cheers from OZ
Love old trucks!! It's more of a blast driving them😬
Duff has his snout in everything you guys bring home. Happiest pup ever.
He's something else.
Good ol Duff is well, I forgot what I was gonna say.......
Good ol dog!
We love the Duff Cam!
I had a 51 3/4 ton flatbed back in the late 70s. Red just like this one. Flathead V8s are sweet engines.
Love the old big Fords. Also the literature in the glove box is gold to me.
Ya love when you work on old fords. Cheers
Hey Mortske!!! Now we're talking!! I like them old Ford trucks...my guess is 1951-52....
That’s a sweet old Ferd! Dang!!
its a solid cad , you can beat the dents out , stay safe buddy
Cool old truck Mr. Mortske! Good job gettin er running
Thanks!
Great video glad you posted keep them coming thanks
Thanks, will do!
You show me an engine, Ford, GM or Mopar, I wouldn't be able to see the difference. All the same to me. Shows you how much I know. But I love your channel Mortske. Addicted.
Thanks much Marc!
👍 HOUSTON, WE HAVE IGNITION! That starter, you are a magnet for that stuff just lmao. Swing it radio, they sound great.
The advertisement back when the flats first came out at the dealer..... Count the cylinder's Take care.
What a great truck. Thanks for sharing.
Duff appears to be the brains 🧠 of the operation 🤣
You got that right!
Its pretty good shape the engine sounds good appreciate you making my monday better
Thanks Teddy!
It's Mortske Monday! Woo Hoo!! Great Job man 👍
Thanks much!
Thank you Duff, Mortske, Chin and Mojo these videos mean the world to me.
Glad to hear it Ross!
Mort sure love to see you do more with it but your boss man.
I’m sure your father , had a big smile on his face when he went to sleep that night . Great gift from a son to a father . Your one of a kind ! Time to break the mold ! Good luck down the road !
.....YOU'RE one of a kind......time to learn English.....fool....
Thanks Dave!
Duff Cam is allways great
Budd wheels with the threaded-stud-nut thingy. Familiar with those from when I worked on trash trucks. Good times! LOL.
Then there was that time I got a 1932 Ford BB (1 ton truck with dual rear wheels and metal rod brakes) running after it had sat for like 20 years. The engine had been rebuilt, no idea if it had ever run. Looked brand new. Anyway, I remember that thing having those Budd wheels as well. I drove it to the radiator/A/C shop down the alley from the shop I worked at and told them the A/C didn't work! LOL. While sitting on a plastic milk crate, of course. Ha! Wish I had pics from back then. Just finished watching your vid, and gotta say, AWESOME as always. Thanks for taking us on the ride, Mortske!
Thanks for saving another old truck
Our pleasure!
The opening scene of this video with you and Duff Dog was spectacular!
Just like M-G-M with Leo the Lion. Mortske roars!
Great video!👍
Good video. Duff was real good for this one too
Another awesome video as always, Tom. You always makes us laugh & you are our # 1 UA-camr. Cheers from Jerome in Florida🍾
Much appreciated Jerome!
It's in good shape for year
Nice bobcat ATV
love the new intro music, much cleaner sounding. keep up the good videos and tell duff he's a good boy for me!
same as we've had for a long time
"Identifies as a hammer as well" Bah-ha-ha ! Good one Mortske ! 🔨🚗👨🔧🍺🐶
I like the stories these old rigs can tell us. Like that starter. All these years later and you can feel the frustration like the day Smooch grabbed a hammer and beat the crap out of it.
Me too!
I like that old truck 🙂👍
My dad used to take me to church in an one just like it. Used as his wrecker at his garage. Those WERE the days
That stuff that you found in the truck is almost as cool as the truck itself.
Agreed
Thanks ! Proper enjoyed watching this 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
