Fantastic drill and also the way you took them through it :) Took a few pointers away from this one. Thank you so much for sharing, and wish you all the very best!
Great drill. I've been really disappointed with how little my son's club coaches have focused on defensive drills and strategy. He's played at different levels for different clubs and has yet to find a decent defensive coach. I played defense and have taught him most of what he knows... but was looking to help him take his defensive IQ to the next level. He used to play center back but this season switched to outside/wing back. Learning the right positioning on the outside -- especially when the ball is on the opposite sideline has been challenging for him. My question is this... does any of this change if you have a center striker or winger pushing up high on the opposite side? Should the outside back continue to drop back and keep that attacker in front or try to offside trap? Seems like the downside of dropping too far is creating a "soft spot" behind the center back that allows the opposite winger or striker to slash through and receive a through ball in the middle.
What is the name of this coach, da... He is great , and I want ask!! In morocco the formation of youth coaching they don't allow us to teach kids from U8 and U11 kinds of tactics skills in exercises. For which age this exercise is?
It's a good drill yes but I think it's best if defender 2 who gives cover should lead the defense line to lead as head and the defender 3 who provides balance to be on the same line with him so as the defender 4 who provides depth so that a striker can't use the last defender line to be onside
This is a great video for sure but if I may put in simple form for others who are watching it behind the screen. In defending the ball from your opponent as a team you should open the field to give space, pass & move to set up again & gain control of the game. In not having the ball the team should close in on players to mark them & as a result, the other team will be pressured causing them to lose control , bad passes, no talking etc. remember to always stay on the man you are marking when your team does not have the ball. Creates less chances for the other team
I love the way you do your trianing. Am a defender playing in the Gambian 2nd division I enjoy watching your videos 🏐🏐🏐🏐

No need for tactical stuff at that age. Everything with a football 👍
