  • This extremely simple tapering jig is so simple that I almost decided not to do the video. You be the judge. It is very useful in the shop. This shop built DIY tapering jig can be made in under five minutes.

I watched a few other videos on making a taper jig, but they were pretty involved, and I just don't have time for another detailed shop project right now, I just needed to safely cut a few tapers and be done with it. So thank you so much for making this video, it was exactly what I need.

Just cut a 1m firring, 50mm to 0, using your technique. This resulted in a smooth, accurate and consistent [angle] taper - I stopped half way through to take a photograph I was so surprised. The whole process felt secure and safe. Thank you so much for sharing this excellent invention. Kit [from UK]

You saved my bacon today! Installed a very expensive custom bathroom vanity and was absolutely stumped on how to cut the left end filler piece at a slight angle. This house is 65 years old with wonky floors and walls and the space for the filler strip needed to be 1 1/2” at the bottom and 1 3/8” at the top. I only had one chance and thanks to your simple technique, I nailed it. Would have been so easy to ruin the piece. Thank you, thank you.

Now that was brilliant! Just goes to show that you don't have to overthink things to come up with a solution. I'm very glad you decided to make the video. Simple, concise and straight to the point with no needless chit-chat. I'm installing a 1.7m long shower tray onto a plinth, the supports for which need to be taper cut as the floor is 12mm out over the length. This simple jig will be quick to make and the result will be accurate. Thank you very, very much sir!

I used your method of building a simple taper jig yesterday. My only concern was my cut board was a 2 by while my jig material was from a 1 by. I built tapered shims on the bottom of my wheelbarrow. The jig was not as sturdy as I would have liked, but I went slow and made the cuts. I did not allow enough for the width of the saw blade on the first board, but the boards came out fine. Thanks for the video!

Exclent. Many thanks from the UK. I need to make a filler strip for the side of a doorframe, so around 72 inches, with a slight taper over the length. Your system will be perfect.

I agree with everyone else here, this is a mindblowingly easy way to do it, holy cow! I will try this today but with a bandsaw. Thank you so much for the idea!

Awesome! Thank you very much. Take a look at my super sized tapering jig video where I am cutting almost an eight foot board that needed to be straightened for the bed that I made.

For the record: tried it today to make a guitar neck profiling template and it worked perfectly. Thanks once again!

LOL "These fancy clamps" Thanks for the laugh and the video. Why I didn't think of this myself, Idk. I guess I lost my thinking outside of the box skillsets. I don't subscribe to UA-cam channels but for you sir, I will. Thanks again.

After spending about an hour trying to make my own jig I decided to stop and look for a solution on UA-cam. I was working during a recent storm and power went out just as I began searching. Perfect timing, right?
This jig is a life saver. As soon as power returns I’ll be making the jig and and maybe finish my project today.
    Thank you very much.
