Thank you all for your requests for the score - wow! An overwhelming response in total!! I'll have to find it (it's currently hiding from me!), or I might have to typeset it out again ever better than before!! Please keep your requests coming, and I'll try to get back to you soon! Rx
Hello Richard, you are correct: this is the most beautiful organ piece I've never heard before. I would greatly appreciate receiving it and if there is a fee for your new engraved setting - or for going to the effort to find and send it, please tell me the fee for your artistic work. Thank you so much. [Email - dale.rider@aol.com]
Richard, I don’t know if you found your transcription in the end, but I have a copy that I could email to you if you wish, then you could share it with all these other eager organists.
Love this arrangement. I enjoy hearing voices soloed out. Please make a copy of this beautiful arrangement so other organists can share it with their listeners. Thanks for all you do!
I have always loved Durufle; I recall visiting York Minster in the early 80s as his Requiem was being performed, and having to wipe away tears at the beauty both of setting and music. This piece was a revelation, one I shall have to listen to again and again. Thank you for introducing us to this.
Thank you for your quick thoughtful reply. Hadn't realized that....The beauty of your registration colors makes me want them to be prolonged. LOVE the 32' at the end. You are an amazing musician and organist!
I just stumbled onto this. Excruciatingly beautiful. So happy I found it, listening to it over and over. I’ve enjoyed your playing so much in other venues, but this one hits my heart. Thank you, Richard.
I have listened to this piece at least a half a dozen times - soaking up the beauty of it as an antidote to the ugliness of so much in the world right now. If you ever make it available to your subscribers I would love to have a copy of it so that I could share it at church as a prelude. Well played - as is everything you provide on BIS! Thank you Richard!!
Thank you for providing such "beauty in sound." I would love a copy of the Durufle when you find it. I have a hauptwerk organ but only have the PAB and the small St. Eucaire Cavaille Coll organs. Listening to your recordings has helped me make a wish list of other sample sets. Many thanks for your fine work.
What a beautiful composition and organ arrangement. I would treasure a copy please. It would be so useful. I was waiting for the Tierce de Picardie and was surprised how beautifully you merge into it.
Oh wow. How gorgeous and your performance so well. I, too, must have a copy of the score. They are please? A fan, Jim. By the way, I am listening to your tutorial on registration over and over again. Registration has always been one of my weak areas.
Beautiful playing as always - you certainly made it sound English, almost like Howells! I’ve always preferred the minor chord ending, although you made a good case for a picardy. Cheers
Sounded fantastic! I wasn't expecting something quite as melodious coming from Duruflé. This was definitely a nice surprise! Keep us posted if that PDF ever turns up!
I heard one of your fellow UA-camrs play this some time ago (Fraser Gartshore) and managed to obtain a copy from Banks' Music in York. A delightful piece and well played too.
Absolutely beautiful Richard! And it magnifies so much the organ of the cathedral of Nancy! 😍 I'm not usually a fan of the tierce picarde (very rarely actually 😅), but I admit that (for me) it totally has its place here. It just sounds like there should be a tierce picarde 😄😁 PS: I would absolutely love to have the score 😍😇
I have to confess that I think Nancy sounds at its very best when using some of the quieter stops. Look out for a community post RE the score - I need to re-type it out as I've lost the original!
Maurice Durufle was very self-critical when it came to his compositions. He even went so far that he is said to have burned a large part of it. The remainder can be considered superior in quality to most contemporary works. His fugue on the chimes of Soissons Cathedral from 1946 is, in my opinion, the most beautiful execution of a Carillion theme for organ.
This piece is published by Banks Music arr. Antony Baldwin , and is also published in its original version of "64 harmony exercises for Jean Gallon" by Durand.
Hi Richard, I’ve just come across this (a very merry Christmas and happy new year by the way). If you have managed to find the score I’d also love a copy.
Wow - Beautiful piece! It's Nathan... the school shut off my ability to comment with the school run account - so you don't get the Donald in your comments anymore.. you get a nice Clicquot pipe organ instead (if the picture decides to update...)
Je dois le réécrire, car j'ai perdu l'original ! Je vais mettre en place un post communautaire avec des détails sur la façon de l'obtenir très prochainement.
Absolutely gorgeous. Richard, you are a genius - playing and interpretation effortlessly exquisite as always. PLEASE, if you did find this score, may I have a copy? My abilities only get me as far as attemtping this and his Meditation; I have another organ arrangement of this piece but it irritates me every time I put it up on the music desk - the arranger's name is more prominent that Duruflé's, dreadful really!
I finally received my score to this lovely piece. It’s only half as long as what you played. It seems to me that you repeated the piece in its entirety. Could that be true? Thank you. Your registration was gorgeous. Thank you so much for sharing your talent and this beauty with us all.

The score would be a monumental piece of art :)

How generous. I wish you could share it directly with me. I’m wanting to learn this piece and have been for sometime.
Love this arrangement. I enjoy hearing voices soloed out. Please make a copy of this beautiful arrangement so other organists can share it with their listeners. Thanks for all you do!
Just lovely Richard - everything he wrote was liquid gold. Beautifully played too.
Beautiful rendition. Love the socks, too!

I played the Requiem there in 2007 - a wonderful and memorable experience!
Two of the most sublime things together: Durufle and York Minster.
Achingly gorgeous.
BRAVO, very nice playd.
Yes, it is a beautiful piece. I love Durufle's work! Thank you. I am going to order the score!!!

An amazing interpretation! Thank you very much!
That is lovely. Duruflé seldom disappoints.
Beautiful piece of music Richard!

Beautiful. Listened to a Duruflé piece I didn't know: CHECK ;)
I'm surprised you didn't know it, Ralph! It's a very handy piece to have up your sleeve for a pre-service prelude, or during the Offertory/Communion.
@@beautyinsound no communion here in the land of Protestants;)

Absolutely beautiful Richard! Can I please be added to the list for a copy of the score.
I'd love to have a score if it's still possible. Beautiful playing
It works really well with the 1928 C minor Fugue (on a theme of Henri Rabaud), which was yet another harmony exercise (well, a fugue writing exam).
Funny you should say that - I’m currently whipping something along these lines!!
@@beautyinsound If you pm me, I can send you a transcribed score - I though the open score was just much head work!
Richard, I would greatly appreciate a copy of the score for this lovely work.

Je vais jouer cette pièce dans un concert d’orgue avec le « Grand Choeur » de M. Marchand.
Beautiful interpretation! Could you send me the pdf too if it’s not too much trouble? :)
Very nice playing - may I have the score for this?
Thank you for bringing to light this moving and mesmerizing piece! Might it be just a teeny tiny bit on the fast side?
Glad you enjoyed it! It’s already significantly slower than the metronome marking.
Hi Richard, I’ve just come across this (a very merry Christmas and happy new year by the way). If you have managed to find the score I’d also love a copy.
I think the most beautiful piece is his Prélude et fugue sur le nom de Jean Alain but this is also a top piece.
This music sounds great! Can I have the score?
I'd love a score please!
It was as if I was hearing the voice of God... - Antonio Salieri

I’d love a copy as well if that is possible :)
May I take the opportunity to wish Caroline a Happy Birthday 🙏🏼🙏🏼
