I like that they're not afraid to switch genres for a sequel. They did it with Alan Wake, and it makes me very excited to see what an Action RPG Control game will be like because clearly they have some wild ideas for them to commit to it.
Im still a firm believer that AW2's sales have been harshly impacted by the epic store exclusivity. IIRC control really took off once it finally released on steam. Unfortunately AW2 might not have that luxury.
On the other hand AW2 might not even exist if Epic didn't fully fund the development. In any case Remedy didn't suffer any losses which is good, it was a very safe deal for them.
How can people not finish a game they have started? I can't wait to finish a game and see what happens and i never leave one unfinished and start a new game . I just can't...
O I totally get it. It's super super common though and honestly even me, someone who now plays no joke maybe 110+ games a year, I struggled beating games for a long time
Remedy hasn’t missed yet in terms of games. Also Control does have skill trees and skill points. So it has RPG stuff in it, and weapons have slots for modifiers. Control 2 being a RPG might not be a huge departure.
Honestly I don’t think firebreak will do that well as they expect just because it will be a multiplayer game. So hopefully the max Payne remakes can help them make a profit when it releases in 2025 if if releases in 2025
@@the.assistant.janitor AW 1 has no sold 4.5 mil If you combine AW 1 + american nightmare only then it makes 4.5 And i am not sure AW remastered is included.
@@DragonOfTheMortalKombat well ofc the whole franchise (excl. AW1 Remastered and AW2). the number 4.5m was mentioned by CEO in 2015, five years after the launch of AW1. AW1 Remastered was released in 2021 and had sold 1.7m to date (Q3/2024). AW2 had sold 1.8m to date (Q3/2024). Pretty sure the whole franchise is close to passing the 10 million mark if it hasn't done that already.
I know it’ll happen but my guess is 2030-2032 for a possible Alan Wake 3 and most likely and hopefully a cross generational title because by then both next PlayStation and Xbox will be early into their life’s etc. And would be very smart for them to go cross generational route with Alan Wake 3 at that time
So are you saying longer length further decreases interests for consumers to finish a game? It’s so weird to me that we can straight up know the facts how many people complete a game. And that there’s lesser players completing games then you would assumed.
Hmmm that's a good point. Most games go up and down with price though and you imagine most of the time let's say in the first 2 years it'll be full price.
One of the Most Impressive FLOPS I've seen thus far... But, to be fair... Given how horror gaming is such a difficult genre to achieve such lofty sales figures (1 million+ copies in 1-2 years) with AAA budget, and something Resident Evil has long become the absolute best at... I'd say this is a massive milestone for any game NOT Resident Evil alongside Silent Hill 2's 1 million+ sold in just 3 days after launch. Just a reminder.. Alone in the Dark 2024 flopped very bad due to very poor management compared to how well managed SH2 Remake and Alan Wake 2 enjoyed.
FLOP ? !!! lmfao in a year when we got games like concord, unknown 9, dustborn and lego horizon, you're saying a game nearly making back its full budget and continuing to sell well in the long term a " Most Impressive FLOPS I've seen thus far " GTFO of here.
The sales figures aren't the full story. They shot themselves in the foot by doing a deal with the Epic Game Store. They alienated the majority of PC players, who would have been the target audience for this. Most people like me won't buy it unless it's on Steam. It seems they took a stupid, greedy deal, and it hurt the sales badly. Even now, every tweet they post still has hundreds of comments asking when it's coming to Steam.
They didn’t take the "stupid, greedy deal", they took the ONLY deal. Remedy has gone on record saying that nobody wanted to fund AW 2 for like 10 years straight. Like it or not, the only reason we now have AW 2 is because Epic footed the bill.
cant believe there are still ppl that wont buy a game just because its not on steam....i got pass that ages ago and just enjoy playing games (where ever it is), you know? like how gamers are supposed to do.
@puntybrah that's my choice tho. Why would I want 2000 odd games in my Steam library and just one game on EGS. Steam has better social features, bigger sales, faster download speeds and better game reviews.

I honestly didn't even know AW2 was a thing till I saw the Game Awards last year
for sure, I know a bunch of people around me who didn't bought it because it's not on steam
Now that it's got physical copy, I think it will get more sales.

@@FoxyGuyHereit's sort of a limited run though , they didn't ship a lot of physical copies , atleast not compared to other games with similar numbers
Having the AW2 digital deluxe edition 50% off for black friday should bring those numbers up.
i'm calling it now we're gonna play as dylan in control 2
That'll be dope
Sales would go crazy with a steam release.

I typically am playing 2-3 games at a time, try to keep it to 2 shorter games (
@RJN9008 2 years to beat red dead ? Wow . It took me 39 days . Of course i don't do anything except house chores so i have lots of time .
I typically finish the games I started, but life does happen where I can’t finish it and I forget hot to play the game after I return to it.
@jkingisbeast yeah , that happens to me too , i just start from the beginning and finish it then .

I gifted a copy of AW2. Remedy deserves the sales, and I'll support FBC Firebreak more than any live service game I'll ever play.
According to IGN, Control sold over 4,5 million copies.
To date, yes. After the release of AW2 Control has sold ~1 million copies.
AW1 sold 4.5 million copies in 5 years as well (1.4m in first year)

Aint those sales numbers based on a full priced game? A 4mi slow selling game won't be as profitable as a out te gate 4mi selling game.

Alan wake needs a better gameplay. The story is flawless. Control is better than alan wake in story and gameplay, they need to use that
